Descripción

Romance by Ralph Lauren is a fruity floral fragrance for women. Launched in 1998, this composition was created by perfumer Harry Fremont. The top notes unfold with a vibrant opening of rose, chamomile, ginger, lemon, and yellow freesia. The heart reveals a floral harmony featuring lily of the valley, lotus flower, white violet, and carnation. Finally, the base notes settle into a warm and persistent foundation of white musk, oakmoss, exotic woods, and patchouli.

It was very pleasant to me; it smells clean and agreeable; I don’t know how to describe it better. It left me with a pleasant experience, although I haven’t felt like buying it again. Very nice scent.

I’m trying to recall my olfactory memory to describe what Romance used to be. I wore it in its first version, when fragrances were fresh, clean, aquatic, and with floral touches. On my skin, it was literally a bomb of lemon, ginger, chamomile, lotus, and lily; I don’t remember the other notes. It was very feminine, intense, and had great longevity, but it felt overwhelming to me, as if all the notes were attacking my sense of smell. I love strong perfumes, however, I couldn’t tolerate it and gave it away. I’m not saying it was bad, just that we weren’t compatible. I don’t know if it was reformulated, but for those who like floral, herbal, citrus, and intense perfumes, this is a safe choice.

  • Pleasant aroma, though I prefer Midnight Romance, which I absolutely love. It’s a pity that both last very little on me. On my skin, I notice a certain similarity to Victoria’s Secret Bombshell. Cheers.

  • I recommend it 100%. I received it as a gift during a trip to a coastal city and it seems perfect: a pleasant aquatic sensation, very fresh fruity citrus aroma, nothing heavy or overwhelming. In my case, it lasts all day, leaving a softer trail at the end. Ideal for day and night. I love it; I always buy the tester since it’s cheaper and has good quality and longevity.

  • It’s a great perfume with good longevity. At first, it’s fresh and spicy, but over time, a woody side emerges that doesn’t convince me. I used it once and never bought it again.

It’s a refreshing scent with a delightful kick, perfect for cool summer nights. It has a subtle yet constant aroma with a hint of rose, citrus, and woody notes. It’s a gem—versatile and very welcome after a shower for its clean, polished sensuality; I love it, it’s rich. You just need to reapply frequently because it’s soft and the trail isn’t powerful.

  • I received this by mistake; I actually wanted Midnight. It never blended with my skin or left any trail. It reminds me of something from Avon; it smells clean, but if you’re looking for an incredible olfactory experience, this isn’t it. It’s a pass without glory. There are better options for less money.

I tried it in-store and loved it, so I bought it right away. However, it dried out within hours and now smells more masculine; my mom even thought it was a men’s fragrance. I’m sensitive to ginger, but I still like it—it’s fresh, though not suitable for extreme heat.

  • Beautiful, what a wonderful aroma. Very soft, fresh, and delicious. Although its sillage doesn’t last long, I’d say it’s a selfish scent that stays with you without wanting to share. Perfect for a sunny day with a breeze; I can’t imagine it in excessive heat because its delicate essences would melt, nor in cold because it would freeze without standing out.

  • This has been my fragrance all my life. We all have a scent that characterizes us and marks our presence; even if we use many perfumes, there’s always one that defines us at our best. So, Romance is my favorite. I’ve been wearing it for 10 years since I discovered it. It’s pleasant, delicate, and charming. It’s strange that a fragrance with spicy notes like ginger and fresh ones isn’t considered a summer scent by most. It has no aquatic notes, isn’t meant to be an energizing breeze, nor to get intimate. The so-called ‘masculine’ smell is just the combination of chamomile and woody notes. It doesn’t become masculine just because it has a vigorous note, especially when roses dominate. Romance is self-love, the strength a woman feels. It’s a tribute to her charm, power, and confidence. Anyone who doesn’t vibrate with these notes should skip it. I guarantee you, anyone who smells it will never forget it. The longevity and sillage are perfect; I can wear it all day, and as I walk through the city, people turn to see where it’s coming from. Nothing is more pleasant than seeing yourself being you, radiating Romance.

  • I loved its citrus freshness, and despite being fresh, it lasts a long time. It’s one of those perfumes that makes me want to buy it again.

  • One of the best I’ve ever tried. I LOVE it and want to own it in industrial quantities. Haha. Unfortunately, here in Argentina it’s very expensive; they really take advantage of the prices. Hopefully, I can buy it someday.

  • It’s my favorite perfume. It defines me: flirtatious, romantic, soft, sweet, and floral. It has amazing sillage and longevity. It makes me feel good. It’s hard to find something so delicate again. I love it.

  • Clean and elegant in its simplicity. Discreet and fresh, perfect for everyday wear. It has that 90s personality—unisex and timeless. Not suitable for going out at night if you want to stand out, nor if you’re looking for gourmand or ultra-feminine scents. But if you want something discreet with character, this will be your favorite. It stands up to both cold and heat.

Flirtatious and versatile: starts strong then mellows out. Works for everything. Smells clean, floral, with a hint of ginger and flowers. Feminine aroma with 4 hours of longevity on skin and moderate sillage.

  • Fresh and clean, almost goes unnoticed. Ideal for work or a long walk. It’s a standard perfume.

  • Andrea Rocio

I love it, perfect for spring. It’s floral with citrus notes. The only downside is it fades very quickly.

  • My favorite perfume that smells clean. It has a very well-executed aquatic note: clean but not like detergent or cleaning product scents; it evokes something ‘transparent’ that tastes great on the skin. I find it super special, feminine, and different. It lasts quite a while and has good projection. I’m not referring to specific notes because I find it’s more of a set that evokes something pure.

  • My first bottle was a gift on the hot Christmas in Santiago in 2002; since then I’ve had several bottles. Although it’s not the only perfume I own, it’s the one I’ve been faithful to all these years. It’s elegant, citrusy, fresh, with hints of sweetness. It lasts a long time on me, and that’s an achievement because few perfumes last on me. Regarding age, I don’t follow those rules: when I had my first bottle I was 25, now at 44 and mature, it grows with me. I love it.

Although it’s been on the market for many years, I recently tried it in-store and took it home. It smells clean, sweet, and very delicate floral. On me, it has a projection that isn’t invasive for others; those nearby or who catch a whiff of it love it, I feel it constantly and I really like it. As for longevity, with high presence it lasts about 6 hours and close to the skin up to 12. It’s a delicate, casual perfume for daily use, in the morning or summer due to its fresh sensation. I wouldn’t say it’s elegant, but it is feminine, delicate, and I’d wear it every day.

  • Candycandy40

Very powdery, smells clean and romantic. I’d recommend it for a bride getting married in the spring. A true romance, just as its name suggests.

  • Infinite thanks to Harry Fremont for this fragrance designed to steal hearts. Rose, ginger, lemon, and a soft woody base to hold all that subtle charm. It’s a perfume that improves any mood and makes you feel radiant. It captivates as it passes, with a feminine and elegant trail that’s noticeable without being intrusive. It tells the world you’re there, that you came to enchant.

I’ve been on this site for a long time, and this is my first review. Since I was little, I’ve adored perfumes, and in my search for my perfect scent, I’ve found two that are definitely for me: Romance is my favorite for hot weather; it smells clean, delicate, and feminine, like just out of the shower; I love it. It’s a scent that has become ubiquitous, but despite the years I’ve worn it, it’s eternal love. My other favorite for cold weather is, without a doubt, after much searching, my personal signature Hypnose by Lancome: timeless, distinct, you receive compliments, sensual, sweet yet fresh at the same time, a scent unlike any other.

  • A week ago I went to a department store and at the counter I saw a bottle without a cap. Out of pure curiosity, I touched it and it was wet with drops of perfume. Since I was in a rush, I left it and went to find what I was buying; on the way, I smelled my hands and what an amazing aroma! Floral and powdery, like a bouquet of soft flowers where you can detect chamomile, rose, freesia, and violet. Although subtle, it was persistent. At the end of my shopping trip, I looked up the name and it was Romance, so beautiful, feminine, and romantic. Obviously, I took it; it will be my perfume for next spring.

  • I love it; I’ve been wearing it since 1999 and I never get tired of it. It remains ‘my’ perfume (just like my mom used to say), despite the passage of time. I’m curious and always try new fragrances, but Romance arrived and stayed forever; one of my two or three unshakeable favorites. It has just the right sillage and longevity—not overwhelming, but noticeable, with that fresh and delicious aroma and perfect balance. Others try to mimic it more or less, but the quality of Romance is unmistakable.

Refined and fresh scent, perfect for summer. It didn’t blow me away, but it’s that kind of well-constructed fragrance: present yet subtle. The ginger, lily, and a woody base with musk do a flawless job. I think it shines when you enjoy scents in a more personal way. It’s a classic due to its years on the market, but honestly, it smells timeless.

  • If it had more sillage and longevity, I wouldn’t change it for anything. It’s a pity because it leaves me with that feeling of not being able to smell it on myself… The fragrance is beautiful, feminine, and fresh, with that clean and elegant scent.

  • Frambuesas

Romance smells like a perfume. A common, everyday floral aroma with a hint of spice. Nice, pretty, and pleasant.

  • My mom got this as a gift years ago, and there’s still a little bit left, and it still smells amazing! Definitely, everyone’s pH plays a role. I absolutely love that my mom smells like this; it’s very noticeable, but it doesn’t seem intrusive at all. On the contrary, it’s a very pleasant fruity-floral scent, leaning citrusy. I really like it.

  • Clauditarojo

It’s the only perfume I’ve bought more than once. I’ve searched high and low, and this is the one that smells the cleanest, soapiest, and most elegant to me. It’s a shame it doesn’t last long on my skin, but I’m loyal and will keep using it until I find another. I refuse to use Light Blue; it’s too overused. I’m currently testing Versense.

  • It has a lot in common with Reserve by PE, sharing many notes, though Reserve is more complex and earthy, like a rainy day. Romance is simpler, less pretentious, and more talcky; the lemon in the opening makes it slightly fresher, but they’re in the same family. I haven’t had a chance to test the longevity yet and have no comments on the sillage. Honestly, for the price, I’d stick with Reserve, although Romance feels a tiny bit more elegant.

  • One of the cleanest musks I’ve ever tried; crisp, feminine, and timeless. Opens with a bright, fresh citrus note that’s lovely, featuring chamomile with a relaxing effect and a hint of sweetness. Then the florals emerge, settling into a soft musk and talc dry down. Even though it has patchouli, it’s subtle and doesn’t overpower; it adds elegance and classic charm. On my skin, it lasts all day with great staying power. It reminds me of a bouquet of fresh white flowers in a bedroom with freshly laundered sheets. I wear it daily at work because it’s noticeable but not annoying to anyone around me.
