  • It seems to have the same notes as the previous Popeye flanker… we’ll have to smell it to see if it’s the same. Anyway, Le Male Popeye smells a lot like Le Beau Male, but slightly more intense and sweeter.

  • Uuu, barely did I get the Popeye one and this one is out!!! It stands out a lot, but I’ll wait for the Goku one!!1

  • With some fear that it would be cloying vanilla and lavender like the original, I was surprised: a soft, caramelized, aldehydic scent with clear sage and angelica, that licorice herb I love. There’s mint and neroli, and base notes of soft woods, sandalwood, and a touch of tonka bean or vanilla, I’m not sure which, plus ambroxan. Fortunately, it’s measured. Nothing out of this world, pleasant, I think I remember Legend by Montblanc. The aromatic fern classification is perfect. Interesting.

  • Last blind buy, a gift from my dad, and I didn’t even know Popeye. First off, it doesn’t resemble the original Le Male at all; I’d tried summer versions with more mint or lavender and less vanilla, but nothing like this. I really like the scent, but at first, I smelled something familiar. After a full day, I realized it smells very similar to two of my fragrances: Nikos Sculpture and Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme. Mint, neroli or orange blossom, sage, and tonka dominate. It’s a good fragrance; I pictured it more in the Invictus style, but it’s much sweeter. If you own either of those two, this is a redundant purchase.

  • A bit scared it would be a cloying vanilla and lavender like the original, I was pleasantly surprised: a soft, caramelized, aldehydic scent with clear sage and clary sage, that licorice-like herb I love… Mint and neroli are present, base notes of soft woods and sandalwood, a touch of tonka bean or vanilla, not sure which, and a measured ambroxan. Nothing out of this world, but pleasant. I remember it resembling Montblanc Legend. The fern aromatic classification is perfect. Interesting.

  • Last blind buy, Father’s Day gift, and I didn’t even know Popeye. First, it doesn’t resemble the original Le Male at all; I’d tried summer versions with more mint or lavender and less vanilla, so I expected something similar, but nothing like it. I like the scent, but on the first sniff something sounded familiar. After a full day of testing, I noticed it smells very similar to two fragrances I own: Nikos Sculpture and Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme. Mint, neroli, sage, and tonka dominate. It’s good, I imagined it more like Invictus but it’s much sweeter. If you have either of those, it’s a redundant purchase.

Le Male Superman is the first Le Male flanker I’ve tried and I loved it. I wanted to try another, but this was the one applied to me, so I decided to appreciate it on its own. It’s a softer, fresher Le Male, but keeps the original DNA: that mint and vanilla combo with other notes was delicious, reminding me of some aftershave cream. In the dry down it has a very pleasant soapy sensation. It offers great versatility, I consider it multi-season and for any occasion. The only thing is it doesn’t last as long as the original, though it lasted me about 10 hours. If you like the original Le Male, I highly recommend it.

Le Male Superman is the first Le Male flanker I’ve tried, and I absolutely loved it. I wanted to try something else, but they applied it on me, so I decided to enjoy it solo. It’s a softer, fresher Le Male, but it keeps the original DNA: that mix of mint and vanilla with other notes was delicious, reminding me of a post-shave cream or lotion; when it dries down, it has a very pleasant soapy sensation. It’s super versatile, multi-season, and suitable for any occasion. Yes, it doesn’t last as long as the original, but it held up for about 10 hours. If you like the original Le Male, I highly recommend this.

  • After hearing so much about this fragrance and having high expectations, I got a disappointment and a headache. For me it’s a sweet, stupid, annoying scent. Nothing seductive or pleasant, just sweet like caramel or bubblegum. I wanted to like it, but after trying it I only got a headache.

  • I couldn’t smell the original Popeye to compare, but I tested this version with several samples, including one from Sephora I wore today with about 6 sprays. It smells very similar to the original Le Male, but with less vanilla and more mint, mixed with a herb I can’t identify well that’s poorly balanced here. The opening is rich, reminiscent of Le Male but less cloying, like a cinnamon bubblegum with a hint of vanilla. Then the vanilla fades and the mint dominates, until in the dry down you smell the aldehydes and that sharp herb I hate (maybe sage), giving a very synthetic vibe I didn’t like. On my skin, in the dry down, it smells like a musty room you want to cover up with lavender air freshener; it’s a shame my skin rejects it, since it’s not expensive and the bottle is pretty, but I’d only buy it for collection, and Jean Paul Gaultier doesn’t really excite me to collect them.

  • After hearing so much about this fragrance and building up huge expectations, I was let down and got a headache along the way. I’m saying what I really think. To me, it’s a sweet, dumb, and annoying scent. Nothing seductive or pleasant, just sweet, like caramel or bubblegum. I wanted to like it, but upon trying it, I only got a headache.

One word: disappointment. Although people praise this Le Male Summer version alongside Popeye, my experience was a failure. The opening is very spicy, aggressive mint, not sexy, then it becomes generic, similar to Invictus or Eros. Don’t get me wrong, at 18 I hate these fragrances because they smell like slob and are everywhere. Performance is weak, typical of flankers. If you’re looking for compliments or to win women, forget this; there are better options. It’s a shame JPG follows trends when Le Male set the trend decades ago. They need to bring something groundbreaking like the big brands haven’t done in years.

  • Javier Hernan

Tasteless. Neither Le Male nor Le Male Summer; it would be a hybrid of both. After 30 minutes it gets boring. 125ml to use when I’m in a bad mood or indecisive between fragrances. Since it doesn’t say anything, it smells like something similar to Le Male, which isn’t offensive, but it’s sticky with the original DNA and I feel it more and more like a teenager every day. NO second bottle. Cheers.

‘Rare’ was the first thing I thought of the LM original years ago, but while the original stood out for not smelling like anything, this one stands out for smelling like everything. It’s sweet, woody, fresh, acidic, a masterpiece; so well-thought-out that it takes time to separate one note from another. Jimblue nailed it. On my skin, the mint and clary sage are the easiest to distinguish. It’s for young people up to their early forties, but not just anyone. Works best outdoors; in small spaces it can get cloying. Spring/summer but not too hot, and evening/night is better than midday. Longevity and sillage are moderate/soft. ♫ Rare, like a sparkler…♫ Edit 2026: I had a few drops left; now it’s available but costs three times the price of the classic LM. It’s worth it, but it’s out of my budget. Back to the scent: after years of storage, the first thing you smell is an undeclared lavender. With just a few sprays, the trail and longevity are tremendous; I barely got into the Uber and half an hour later the driver exclaimed, ‘What a great perfume!’ And 5 hours later it still seems freshly applied. The mix of vanilla and tonka creates a chocolate vibe, an eau fraîche that turns into eau chaude but works perfectly on a cool summer night.

First thing that comes to mind is ‘weird’, but while the original LM stood out for being unlike anything else, this one feels generic: sweet, woody, fresh, and acidic. It’s a masterpiece so well-crafted it takes time to separate the notes. Mint and sclarea are the clearest to me. It’s for guys up to forty, but not everyone. Works best outdoors; indoors it can get cloying. Ideal for mild spring/summer and evenings rather than midday. Moderate longevity and sillage. Rare, like a lit match. Edit 2026: I had a few drops left, now it’s available but three times the price of the classic; worth it but out of my budget. After aging for a few years, the first thing you smell is an undeclared lavender; with a few drops, the trail and longevity are brutal. Took an Uber and half an hour later the driver yelled: ‘What a great scent!’. After 5 hours it still smells fresh. The vanilla and tonka blend gives off a chocolate vibe, an eau fraîche that turns into eau chaude and works perfectly on a cool summer night.

Smells very similar to Versace Eros, but this JPG has very poor projection, almost non-existent. Undoubtedly, Versace Eros is better in every aspect: scent, projection, longevity, and even price. I recommend Versace Eros more. Scent 7/10, projection 5/10.

  • I have many fragrances; most I like, several I love, and a few I don’t like but I keep them to give them another chance, maybe at some point they’ll end up pleasing me (like what happened with Declaration, which generated strong rejection in me and now I like it). Now, among those I like or love, there are some that I also find ‘addictive’, like this Le Male Superman; I don’t know why, but I apply it and can’t stop smelling my wrist or the collar of my shirt. It happens with its predecessor, the original Le Male too. I still hold what I said in my previous review about the resemblance to AHSEE or Nikos Sculpture, but now I notice that this Superman is much fresher due to the mint and aldehydes, which I believe are the notes that make it addictive for me. Greetings.

This is a wonderful surprise. It’s fresh and sweet on the same line as Invictus Aqua, but instead of Invictus’s trademark, Popeye incorporates mint. I think if you like one, you’ll like the other. Of course, this still contains the basic Le Male DNA, but generally, it feels a bit lighter and has been updated with the addition of ambroxan. It’s a friendly scent and doesn’t take itself too seriously, emitting a kind of cheerful and playful atmosphere. What I like most is the effect of the mint accord; it feels very airy and diffuse, so it really projects and floats out in sweet and aromatic bursts while continuing to project in the light. Superman Eau Fraiche is probably the most suitable for temperate climates, since the mint fades in very cold weather and the sweetness can become dominant when it’s very hot. As for me, I like to wear it on mild winter days and I think it’s great during spring. It can probably be compared more to Versace Eros in terms of its scent, although this has less tonka and as a result is lighter overall, with the mint elevated to a more airy and diffuse plane. So I suppose it has the feeling of Invictus Aqua and the scent of Eros. Anyway, it works well. The performance is very good and it should last all day. You’ll probably like this ‘Fraiche’ cologne if you enjoy Invictus, Eros, One Million cologne, Ultra Male, or Allure H. Sport Eau extreme. If you don’t like those fragrances, then Le Male SUPERMAN Eau Fraiche probably isn’t for you.

  • Boyfrag26

What a great surprise! It’s fresh and sweet, like Invictus Aqua, but Popeye swaps his signature note for mint. If you like one, you’ll love the other. While it carries the DNA of Le Male, it feels lighter and more modernized with ambroxan. It’s a friendly, playful, and cheerful scent. The best part is that mint accord: very airy and diffuse, projecting far with sweet, aromatic sprays. Superman Eau Fraiche is ideal for mild climates; the mint fades in the cold while the sweetness dominates in the heat. I use it in mild winters and spring. It smells more like Versace Eros, but with less tonka, lighter, and with very airy mint. It feels like Invictus Aqua and smells like Eros. It performs like luxury and lasts all day. If you like Invictus, Eros, One Million Cologne, Ultra Male, or Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme, you’ll love this ‘Fraiche’ cologne. If not, it probably isn’t for you.

  • As for this perfume, I had enormous expectations, great disappointment! I bought it blind and I didn’t like it at all… I can’t find a single hint of the classic JPG… I simply can’t handle the mint they’ve added… If you want to buy it, ask for a decant or just go to stores and try a tester.

  • It’s a perfume that doesn’t have much fame or people don’t buy it much because when my bottle arrived, it had a bit of dust. The truth is, it smells similar to Eros, though less cloying than the latter, where vanilla and that caramelized apple aroma predominated. Superman smells fresh, feeling the mint and aldehydes strongly, with a light vanilla base; it smells clean, a clean sweet that I love. Regarding the sticky aspect, I don’t feel it much, it feels somewhat fruity perhaps due to the florals. I don’t recommend buying blindly because it might or might not suit you; also, in my country, it has a moderate price leaning slightly expensive. In my opinion, its longevity is quite long and it can easily fill a room with scent; I’m not entirely sure if that’s something that only happens to me.

  • Profesor Moriarty

A perfume that doesn’t have much fame, but its drydown is incredible for skin with a basic pH. It has a powdery sweet scent that reveals the mint, vanilla, and green apple. I didn’t expect much, but I liked it much more than the original Le Male.

  • LosPerfumesDeJavi

This smells incredible in summer. One of my favorites when it came out, I love it. It’s a very pleasant scent. It’s quite sweet but not cloying; it’s mentholated and vanilla-like but in just the right measure, not excessive, and you can also detect sandalwood. It smells very, very well, and you don’t even need to apply much to smell it for hours because the longevity (at least on my skin) is really good for an eau fraiche. It’s another limited summer edition of Le Male by Jean Paul Gaultier with a beautiful bottle, of course, now discontinued.

  • pancho_donoso

It has that minty touch that makes it fresh, though I find it heavy for warm climates and I wouldn’t wear it in the cold. I’m keeping it on the shelf, but I’ll give it another shot when the heat starts.

  • One of the first of many flankers Puig released after joining JPG. They launched in 2016 with Popeye, returned in 2017 with this name, and again in 2018 as André; ultimately, they’re the same thing with minimal variations, all carrying ‘Eau Fraiche’. It smells good, on the right side, but it’s not as rounded as the classics we all have in mind. Versace Eros gave a twist to the concept of the previous decade, and this seems to pull a fast one, mixing potent mint at the start with a very trendy sweet base. The opening, full of mint, is the best phase. Then clean floral notes enter, bringing the Le Male DNA without the musk or that dirty part that makes the original so ambivalent. The problem is that, if you analyze it well, it doesn’t have many moments to wear it. By the name, you expect something perfect for summer, but its floral weight and tonka bean make it too heavy for heat. It also doesn’t work well in the cold because it’s so bright. Spring days sound better, but since it’s not a very original scent, I don’t place it on par with the house’s more distinct proposals.
