This fragrance stole my heart at first sniff. I tested it for a couple of days and couldn’t get it out of my mind; despite forbidding myself from buying more perfumes, I had to get it—a decant wouldn’t have been enough. Its opening is slightly citrusy, disappearing almost instantly to give way to flowers and sugary almonds. Among the most notable flowers are violets and a bit of freesia that balance the growing sweetness of the sugar. It’s very sweet, creamy, and powdery; its iris and sugar notes make it very tender and feminine. It doesn’t smell like talc; it’s a more luxurious and intimate aroma. It has good longevity and a moderate sillage; it’s not a perfume that announces ‘I’m here!’, it’s more for personal and intimate enjoyment. I can use it daily at the office, seeing it as a daytime, everyday scent, not suitable for special events since its projection can be overshadowed by louder ‘party’ perfumes. It’s a fragrance for feeling pretty in a light dress and natural makeup. Longevity: +8 hrs. Sillage: Moderate.
Today I’ll talk about a perfume I waited impatiently for a whole year. Now that I have it in front of me, admiring the bottle and enjoying the scent, I can’t help but ask: Was it worth it? My answer is exactly in the middle: 50% yes and 50% no. Let me explain my feelings, starting with what disappointed me. With every launch, I expect something different, something that makes my pupils dilate, that seeks its own personality instead of following the steps of the ‘popular girl’ formula that turns into boredom. Iris Dragées is, for me, a perfume made with a proven, overused formula that aimed to please without risks. I understand it’s business, but merchants forget that fragrances wrap emotions, and when a scent stops moving you, that’s the end of the story. It’s a perfume with lovely iris and orris petals that give the sensation of luxurious makeup, with striped almonds, vanilla, and plenty of sweetness for a scent revolving around the nostalgia of old makeup. Was there a need to add sweet chords? For me, definitely not; that touch makes it a bit ordinary, just another version of the same thing seen in a new light. Now, the 50% in favor: the perfume has quality, it’s perceptible, impossible to deny. It’s a lovely fragrance that doesn’t overwhelm, subtle yet always with you, quite feminine and soft as silk. Iris Dragées is a genius in discretion and elegance; its balance is admirable. It has great longevity on skin, easily 8 hours, but with a moderate sillage, it invites coquetry and highlights the bearing of a woman who doesn’t need flashy clothes to look impactful and confident. Conclusion: if you love perfumes with iris notes and a reminiscence of luxurious vintage makeup, this is a must-have.

This perfume is the jewel of my collection. It’s powdery, floral-sweet, very elegant and feminine, perfect for events in any season or time of day. It’s a scent very different from the regular Lancôme line—majestic and full of presence, yet not loud or cloying. Its projection is over a meter away in the first hours, which is unexpected for a floral. The downside is its longevity on my skin, hovering around 5 hours, and I think that’s its only flaw… I’m forced to reapply.
I hesitated a lot before buying it. I’d already tested a decant against the Zara MSK-004 clone and preferred the Zara one, but I couldn’t resist the deal to get this brand-new one at half price. Here’s the comparison: the Zara version is sweeter, with a candied almond touch and a friendly musk, smelling a bit like baby powder and tasting more like a treat. Iris Dragees, on the other hand, leans into a clean, soapy, floral iris that feels much more refined. Think of MSK-004 as a scent for a young girl, while Iris Dragees suits a more mature woman. I love both and don’t think owning them is redundant. As for our star, it opens with pepper and a note I can’t quite identify but feels very ‘alcoholized,’ with no citrus. After three minutes, the pepper vanishes, transforming into an almond iris carefully sweetened with subtle floral touches that set it apart from Prada’s Infusion d’Amande. The dry down is similar but more vanilla-musk oriented. On my skin, it doesn’t project much and lasts only 4-5 hours depending on the weather. It’s a very versatile daytime fragrance for any season or occasion. I’m thrilled I got it.
A bit tricky to find these days, but not impossible: does anyone know where to get it, even secondhand?
With this fragrance, I feel embraced by an elegant, tranquil sweetness. It hits that perfect sweet spot and has incredible longevity.
