Today it arrived in my hands, this wonder is exquisite, delicate, fine, of excellent quality, a dream come true. Sweet and soft but persistent; I only put a little on my wrist and every time I move it, the scent comes out like a gentle breeze. Ideal all the time and at any hour. Adorable in Guerlain.
Incredible, it’s been all night and L’Instant Magic is still on my wrist. I repeat, ADORABLE THIS GUERLAIN.
It’s aromatic without being heavy, elegant, and long-lasting, preferably for winter and night. Excellent scent. I hope they don’t discontinue this line.
Smells great, elegant, and lasts all night long—perfect for winter. A total hit; I hope they don’t discontinue it.
VELVET CAress The world of fragrances for my mother sums up to: Chanel, Guerlain, and Lancome, and this was another Guerlain my mother gifted me that I didn’t know how to appreciate at the time because it reminded me of Flower by Kenzo, a perfume that never caught my attention… so it stayed in ostracism for a few years, keeping company at the bottom of the wardrobe with others like Insolence, a floral too heavy for my younger self… until relatively recently. Now I’m finally ready to enjoy them. I perceive it as a refined, luminous, smoke-free version of Lou Lou, more powdery and creamy, and nothing overdone or 80s, although it has a dark, slightly boozy sweet component in the style of Gloria. Luckily, I don’t perceive the anise, which I hate for being sticky, cheap, and intoxicating, but it has a refined and soft sweetness coming from the vanilla, as well as a vegetal and powdery sweetness from the iris and violet. The almond doesn’t have the lollipop aroma but contributes the creaminess and woody texture of dried almond. It has floral notes similar to Insolence, but while that one has resins that boost the flowers and give great longevity, plus red fruits that make it sweeter, L’instant Magique has a slightly less crystalline, more muted and vanillaized sweetness, and the creaminess of the almond gives it a different finish that neutralizes the violet more. But I also perceive that kind of melon-like sweetness present in perfumes like J’adore, very subtle and balanced, making it aquatic, which could also come from flowers like jasmine or mimosa. If that scent had a color, it would be orange… and it transports me directly to a Halloween context, pumpkins, late summer, a night by the pool or a blue lake where the moon reflects… only that this perfume, although magical, is much more versatile and romantic than that. For me, it’s a cult scent, very different but delicious, nothing cloying, but refined like fine velvet, like a light cream spreading in a caress. It never gets old; it’s a masterful and addictive composition around the warm almond, but they managed to introduce powerful flowers perfect so it doesn’t end up as marzipan. In my opinion, although slightly sweet, it’s not exclusively feminine. It’s sensual, substantial, restorative, calming, magical, mysterious, silky, luminous, intimate, has personality… and lasts forever. USAGE: It’s very versatile, suitable for all climates because although it’s warm with a woody texture or very slightly powdery, above all it has a natural herbal sweetness that I link to the aquatic. It must have been conceived for the shoulder seasons, although it suits me more in autumn/winter than in spring. It’s very suitable for night due to longevity and the trail it leaves, but since it’s not intoxicating or intrusive, it’s perfect for the day. It’s ideal for a formal context but also not a wall-of-scent frivolous one that would be out of place in informal occasions; on the contrary… that’s why it’s versatile.
Even though it’s not identical to its sibling, it’s far from bad—it’s a masterpiece. It was instant love when a friend gifted it to me; it literally took my breath away. It’s a whirlwind of almond, vanilla, and iris that lifts you up, paired with rose, freesia, and violet swirling around you. Then comes a sun of white musk and sandalwood that grounds you back to earth. Magical.
Despite not resembling its sibling and despite that potentially seeming like a bad thing: it isn’t. An exceptional creature created with expert hands in configuring olfactory deities. It was a lightning bolt in my life: a friendly hand gifted me that magical moment where you took the highway from lung to heart, and I didn’t even know how to breathe. I only wanted to inhale your air because with every exhalation, I felt I was losing you. A tornado of almond, vanilla, and iris that envelops you and lifts you off the ground: a magical journey always in the company of rose, freesia, and violet, which slowly spinning around you lose their scent to gift it to the wind, your food… and now a sun smelling of white musk and sandalwood slips through the eye of this dry hurricane and deposits you back on the earth, which you will now feel and live under the influence of a magical tornado’s sillage.
It reminds me of Heure Bleue due to the anise-floral character that dominates on the skin. In L’Heure, the dry down becomes more oriental with benzoin, vanilla, etc… whereas this feels more linear. As for the almond, iris, vanilla, and the rest… well, I’m not sure… they add nuances, but I don’t perceive them very clearly. It seems like a very mixed and conceptual perfume. For anyone who thinks the combination of almond (which we already assume must be sweet even though the fruit isn’t), vanilla, anise, etc., could be cloying… well, on my skin, it absolutely isn’t. The performance is very good; it lasts quite a while.
L’Instant Magique is a very natural, elegant powdery perfume. Its opening is somewhat floral and citrusy with a faint rose that quickly gives way to one of the most powdery irises, with fresh almonds becoming noticeable much later—not creamy and dense, but light. It’s a sweet perfume but not cloying; you can taste the sweetness of each component without going overboard, all wrapped in iris in the purest Guerlain style. Its concept is a slightly almonded powder room talc with a non-strident vanilla. It has impeccable longevity and sillage. I find it more attractive than the latest creations from this high-end house, even though they are expensive. It has a very seductive vintage touch.
An updated portrait of Guerlain’s La Guerlinade, featuring that signature floral footprint of house-specific ingredients that define the brand. Everything Guerlain: violet, almond, bergamot, vanilla, rose… synthesized and refreshed. A precious, anise-flavored formula with a subtle, powdery presence. Clean and floral. It’s the exact opposite of the insolence of Guerlain’s classic, baroque violets. Here, that coquettish, delicate world of cosmetic care is represented with subtlety. Instant Magique is a well-nourished, neutral floral talc enriched with flowers, anise, etc., resulting in an incredibly rich yet clean complexity. In my opinion, the magic happens thanks to the anise and its contrast with the rest of the flowers. It plays with many things at once without losing its identity as a powdery portrait of classic beauty.
It’s the modern take on Guerlain’s ‘La Guerlinade,’ featuring its signature floral notes: violet, almond, bergamot, vanilla, and rose. A clean, floral formula with a hint of anise, very soft and powdery. Unlike classic, baroque violets, this offers a delicate, coquettish world, like a rich floral talc. The magic lies in the contrast between the anise and the flowers, achieving a clean complexity without losing that classic beauty.
