Invictus Legend by Rabanne

Very rich and beautiful, I picked it up on sale in 50ml with that Champions logo. I had the original Invictus EDT since its launch and it lasted me a whole year. The scent is very similar but less fresh, and instead of taking away from it, that gives it more versatility than the original, which I only used in heat and in the evening. I liked this Legend; it didn’t surprise me coming from the original, but in winter here with the heat and mild climate, I find many occasions to use it, even at night. Good projection, better than the EDT, and the longevity is beast mode: the EDT lasted me 4 hours on skin, and this one already gets me 8. Nothing to criticize except the price; even though I got it on sale, the original is excessive. Recommended? I don’t know… I love the Invictus aroma, almost my signature for years, but it’s super overused and the scent is extremely well-known, so it doesn’t surprise or generate compliments because everyone has an inspiration of this logo. Try it, and if you truly love the scent, it’s worth the expense; otherwise, not.

INVICTUS LEGEND PR: The original DNA is there, but it transforms into an aquatic and marine version with a salty touch that makes it super fresh and blue. Even though it seems discontinued, there’s a great inspiration today called Victorioso Myth by Maison Alhambra; keep your distance, but they’re very similar, so you can’t go wrong with the price. In the world of contemporary blues, it competes directly with Dylan Blue from Versace, Y by YSL, Nautica Voyage, 212 Men by Carolina Herrera, Bvlgari Aqva, Acqua Di Gio by Armani, and others on the market. Undoubtedly, it’s a great fragrance: jovial, energizing, clean, and marine. It’s fantastic for mornings, afternoons, and hot nights; not super elegant, but it smells amazing. In my opinion, it’s one of the two best Invictus scents, alongside Platinum. Excellent choice for heat with proven acceptance. Scent: 10. Projection: good, noticeable for 2 hours. Longevity: 6 hours on skin, 8 on clothes. Recommended.

Very rich, masculine, fresh, and marine, but it has a salty note that doesn’t quite work for me; from afar it’s fine, but up close, right on the skin, it shifts to something spicy that I don’t like, though others might enjoy it. That’s the only thing that didn’t convince me. The longevity, projection, and sillage are good. Personally, I recommend not buying it blind because there might be notes you don’t like. This doesn’t just apply to this perfume but to all of them: NEVER BUY BLIND. Even with positive reviews, some notes might not suit you; we all have different tastes. If you buy based on a good review, you might dislike certain notes once you try it. That’s why you should test it first with decants to see all the stages: opening, dry down, and heart, plus longevity, projection, and sillage. So, test it fully for a few days and don’t let yourself be guided only by first impressions. Never buy blind.

I bought this fragrance in 2019 when I wasn’t an expert yet and was just getting my driver’s license. It seemed like the perfect flanker because my brother used the Intense and I didn’t want to smell like him. It projected a lot, lasted forever, and I always got compliments; everything was blue (hehe). I finished the bottle and about 4 or 5 months ago I remembered the good times and bought it again. At first, I thought everything was the same, but it wasn’t. It’s been reformulated: the salty, citrusy, graceful opening lasts at most an hour. Then there’s a soapy, sticky sensation that no one notices, and by 4 hours I have to press my nose against my skin to smell it. I sprayed it at 8 PM, and now at 12:11 PM, it doesn’t smell beyond my skin anymore. I’m so angry to have 100ml of a perfume that smells great but lasts ridiculously short. What a pity 🙁

Fresh, herbal, and sweet aroma without being cloying. The opening is tropical mango with an acidic twist like passion fruit, a pinch of salt, and a woody base. Projects strongly for the first two hours, then lingers on the skin for another six hours like an Eau de Parfum, but with constant bursts of that charming scent. It’s a flanker that generates compliments. Great for warm days, evenings, nights, summer, spring, and even for office Fridays or weekends. Yes, in the dry-down phase it reminds me of 1 Million Lucky with a salty and amber touch.

Invictus Legend is one of the freshest options in the lineup. It has that classic sticky sweetness with a marine touch from the original, but adds a sharper salty note than the Aqua. Its signature is the underlying tropical aroma. Projection and longevity are moderate, as expected for the price. Warning: close to the skin, it smells weird and unpleasant, so don’t over-spray and avoid being too close to people. In short, the sweet, salty, and tropical balance makes it ideal for summer.

This is probably one of the first to pack so much wood and ambroxan. Here comes the fatigue factor. In the heat, it overwhelms me; those metallic, dusty tones, mixed with synthetic wood and sea notes, amplify and mute the grapefruit. I tolerate it better in the cold. Plus, it has a sticky sweetness I don’t like. I’d only wear it in cold weather or outdoors—it’s not what I’m looking for. The performance is exactly what you’d expect.

In my opinion, I’m head over heels. It smells amazing, it’s strong, and I’ve gotten tons of compliments; the trail is fantastic. As for longevity, it’s by far the longest-lasting: I sprayed it three times at 9 PM, went home at 6 AM, slept, and when I woke up at 1 PM, my pillow still smelled like it. Highly recommended. Note: in summer, if you over-spray and aren’t in a ventilated area, it can be suffocating.

Invictus Legend reminds me of that typical deodorant or sea gel smell. I’d wear it in the morning for running or the gym, but not for dates, important events, or work. The longevity and intensity are good, and although I like the middle notes, the opening doesn’t convince me. It has more presence than the original, but given the price and utility, I don’t plan to buy it.

It’s fruity. I thought it would be a bomb projecting for five or six hours, but it actually lasts about three. I still recommend it for summer or autumn. Right now I’m at the beach and it works well because it’s fruity and the performance jumps up by about five hours. In cold weather, it becomes weak, like most summer fragrances.

Sweet, very sweet. On my skin, it smells like vanilla and a bit of talc; I don’t detect the salt, citrus, or laurel. I don’t consider it a net summer scent; I use it more in spring. I think it suits people under 40 better, especially the younger crowd. It has excellent longevity and projection.

Rich aroma from start to finish. Suitable all year round, standing out at the beach thanks to its tropical touch and during spring and summer nights. It holds up well in autumn and winter. I have a 2021 bottle that lasts over nine hours, so I give it an 8.5/10 for performance.

The sweetest scent for any occasion, smells absolutely delicious, and its longevity and projection are something I haven’t seen in other perfumes. I recommend it 100% as a signature; anyone who says otherwise should check where they’re buying their perfumes, lol. 10/10.

I have it but don’t use it much. It’s very long-lasting, but the scent is invasive. One spritz on my shirt is strong and lasts all winter. It works better for summer if you want to smell like grapefruit, but it feels a bit old-man-ish for anyone over 30.

Few jovial perfumes for summer night parties are both good and long-lasting. This is clearly one of them. If you’re going to buy an Invictus, make it this one. In Argentina, it’s still sold in some places, only the 50ml version. Recommended. 6/10.
