Descripción
Café Chantant by Nobile 1942 is a floral musky woody fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2013, this composition is signed by perfumer Mathieu Nardin. The top notes of tart cherry, laurel, and marshmallow offer a sweet and fruity first impression; the heart reveals the elegance of heliotrope and iris; while the base settles on a warm and enveloping foundation of vanilla, benzoin, musk, and patchouli.

Café Chantant is a fascinating fragrance. It opens with a potent cherry liqueur mixed with that tart cherry gum I used to eat as a kid. The cherry note is very distinct—different from Tom Ford’s Lost Cherry (more gourmand), Montale’s Intense Cherry (more floral), or Blood Concept’s B (more woody); it has a bit of everything. Then the cherry fades, giving way to a powdery sweetness where iris and heliotrope take center stage. It’s a sweet floral built on vanilla and benzoin, with a subtle patchouli touch and a soft musk that boosts performance. The longevity and projection are light, which is rare for a sweet, musky scent, but that gives it versatility, making it unisex and perfect for daytime or the office. Although it’s a niche fragrance, the price isn’t outrageous, so it’s a great option for sweet lovers. As a fun anecdote, the dry-down smells like the air fresheners used to be in Blanco stores (which no longer exist), and they used to drive me crazy. I loved it from the first spray to the very end. I thought the name ‘Café’ would be literal, but upon smelling it, I didn’t detect coffee beans at all—just an atmosphere. After checking the ingredients, it made perfect sense: it starts boozy and slightly medicinal, reminding me of Lolita Lempicka thanks to the cherry, vanilla, and anise. As it dries down, it transforms completely into something delicious, sweet, and powdery due to the iris and heliotrope; I even detect a hint of chocolate that isn’t listed. Despite having no coffee, it didn’t disappoint and is now on my favorites list. I agree with those who compare it to Guerlain’s Cuir Beluga; it’s not the same, but it’s incredibly similar.
I was fascinated from start to finish. I thought the name ‘Café’ implied that note, but I didn’t smell it; I think it refers to a place instead. After reading the ingredients, my perception made sense: at first, it’s boozy and medicinal, reminding me of Lolita Lempicka due to the cherry, vanilla, and anise. Once it dries down, it’s a whole other world: delicious, sweet, and powdery thanks to the iris and heliotrope, and I even notice a touch of chocolate that isn’t listed. Even though it doesn’t contain coffee, it didn’t disappoint and is now on my wishlist. I agree with those who compare it to Guerlain’s Cuir Beluga; it’s not the same, but it’s incredibly similar.
