  Il Capriccio del Maestro is one of my olfactory contradictions. While its resemblance to Angel’s Share is undeniable, it’s not the same and doesn’t smell alike. Overall, I like the scent: it’s a fortified, spicy, sweet fragrance with tobacco and woods. It opens with a very perceptible liquor that lasts all the way through, featuring potent yet sweet spices, but with an almost powdery tone thanks to the vanilla. That leading liquor note, nearly sharp at first, darkens with a toasted touch. Cinnamon, honey, and a resinous nuance calm the fragrance down, keeping it from being too loud, because it never takes a path that’s overly sweet. As for strength, it stays within its range, a bit warm and cozy. Angel’s Share feels way too heavy to me; this one has a finer edge. It’s more enveloping but without weighing too much. I like it, but it doesn’t fit my plans for various reasons. It’s unisex with above-average performance, and I’d struggle to choose it for certain days. It’s very niche for my daily wear: cold nights and special occasions, and since I don’t have many of those, I feel more comfortable with other compositions in that context. Yes, but not for me.
