Descripción

Cuir d'Orient by Sous le Manteau is a leather fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2016, this composition is signed by nose Nathalie Feisthauer. Its olfactory structure unfolds with a top note of bergamot, giving way to a heart of suede, iris root, and heliotrope. The base reveals a warm and complex blend of vanilla, benzoin, opoponax, musk, ambrette musk, and patchouli.

  • Emorandeira

An iris and leather scent with a touch of talc, amber, vanilla, and musk. To me, it feels like a sweeter, lighter version of Dior Homme Parfum. It’s very easy to wear, with a simple structure and nothing aggressive, giving it great versatility. Perfect for any time of day. Scent: 9.5, Longevity: 7, Sillage: 6, Versatility: 10, Originality: 7, Overall: 9.

  • Another successful blind buy. It’s a deceptive perfume: it starts soft and slightly citrusy, but its drydown is amazing. The suede is delicate and adds body, accompanied by iris root, heliotrope, vanilla, musk, and benzoin. It transforms into something warm, powdery, with a vanilla makeup scent. I own Guerlain’s Cuir Beluga, and they’re practically identical, but this one is half the price.

  • It reminds me a lot of one of the best perfumes in history, Cuir Beluga. Here, the leather caresses the skin—it’s suede acting like velvet. The iris adds only a buttery quality, nothing like Dior. I’ve gradually discovered all the fragrances from this house, and this is undoubtedly the best; the rest of the collection is very good, I just need to try the No. 6. Another example of houses without hype that hide true gems. P.S. The comparison with Orchidée Vanille is unclear to me; lately, people are saying all sorts of weird things here.

  • I have a small sample, and while it’s not my definitive scent, the leather note is exceptionally soft and pleasant. A sweet, powdery aroma dominates, giving it a very characteristic ‘vintage’ touch.
