I tried it and gave it as a gift, but the person who received it hated it. It smells like uncomfortable patchouli or wood mixed with something sweet and smoky; I’m not sure if this is the Black Suede, but it’s a scent that can make you dizzy and won’t get you compliments. I sensed a strong wood note, maybe something musky.
Testing the line: it reminds me of TOUCH, AXE Musk, and AVON MUSK. What stands out most is the musk. So far, the one I like best from Black Suede is ESSENTIAL, which smells like AXE MIRAGE (both discontinued). INTENSE seems objectively the best, though I haven’t tried all of them. I just bought TOUCH.
Another disappointment with the Black Suede flankers by Avon! The fragrance is pleasant and acceptable, with a spicy opening of ginger, pepper, and nutmeg that lasts almost until the end. It has a vanilla base that accompanies without overpowering. The problem is that in Argentina, the longevity is terrible—it fades within an hour. The projection is also poor, typical of Avon, although the original had good longevity. I’m annoyed by the quality difference between the original and the flankers. I’d prefer they discontinue it or sell it as an aftershave. At that price, there are others that beat it by a landslide. The dilemma for Avon: quality or price? Consumers decide.
A sweet fragrance, could be unisex. If it had more projection, it would be in the Stronger With You… club. You can smell the vanilla and nutmeg a lot from the start. Ideal for casual daytime use, especially on cool days or in winter.
A rich fragrance without much pretension, slightly sweet for daytime. It’s great for autumn and spring. Thanks to its low cost, I reapply it without worry.
