Presence by Montblanc is a spicy oriental fragrance for men. Launched in 2001, this composition was created by perfumer Corinne Cachen. The olfactory pyramid unfolds with top notes of cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, and bergamot; a floral and spicy heart featuring apple, sage, and heliotrope; and a warm, woody base blending tonka bean, sandalwood, white musk, teakwood, and amber.

If you like cinnamon, this is for you. Elegant and rich. Lasts over six hours without issues. Winter and autumn only, nothing for summer.
Almost certainly reformulated with reduced potency; it lacks the magical presence it once had in the moon-shaped bottle. Opens spicy and fresh, almost floral, then reveals a playful apple note. Projects well without being intrusive and lasts quite a while. I disagree with Yuri: it’s too mild for winter; I wear it in spring and autumn. Perfect for the office. It’s a pity it’s not as good as before—I miss that punch, though it remains a valid perfume.
Excellent combination by Ms. Corinne: the ginger and cinnamon give it a special touch. It’s fresh, nothing boring, almost addictive. Great longevity and a huge sillage. I recommend it 100%: you’ll show freshness and cleanliness all day.

While cleaning my room and reorganizing my fragrances, I stumbled upon a sample I knew I had but hadn’t realized wasn’t the Presence Cool (which I almost never use; I’ve gone through two bottles). A forum friend, Peluzin, who recommended Homme Exceptionnel to me, told me to try the Presence. When I read the envelope carefully and saw it was this Presence and not the Cool, I was motivated to try it (though between the saying and doing, 48 hours passed). The first thing upon smelling it on my hand: 1) It’s muuuuch different from Presence Cool. 2) It’s muuuuch similar to Karl Lagerfeld’s Jako. I clarify that I’m not saying it’s a copy, but that was my first impression of its style and approach to scents. Like Jako, this Presence is vintage, potent, and full of personality. The initial blast is that spice crossover: ginger, cinnamon, and cardamom; the citrus is barely noticeable. Then something floral (masculine) emerges, close to lavender (though it doesn’t have lavender, I imagine it’s a blend of other notes). At the dry down, it’s an avoiled scent with tonka bean and apple sweetness (though I’m used to DKNY Be Delicious, which my sister uses). It’s a ‘warm’ fragrance, for cold or temperate climates (I don’t recommend it for tropical climates). It’s not jovial; it’s very formal, for jacket and long-sleeved shirt (important meetings). It can be used for a romantic lunch, but not for a date. No one who smells it will perceive it as outdated or unrefined. My final verdict (subjective opinion): I liked it a lot, but personally, I prefer Presence Cool.
Montblanc Presence: elegant, sweet, spicy, and slightly fruity. The first few minutes are very sweet, almost overwhelming, due to the cinnamon, ginger, and the strong sweetness of amber. After 30 minutes, the sweetness gives way to a more fruity and floral stage, much more pleasant, becoming warm like a tender hug. At the dry down, soft wood and warm tonka notes emerge, but it maintains freshness and florality. It has great presence, living up to its name. Better for mid-seasons like spring or autumn; in summer it can be overwhelming and in winter perhaps too light. Optional for dates, very pleasant in its mid-stage at the end. Longevity on my skin is over 12 hours. Best for those in their mid-twenties or older.
Smells good and has average longevity. It’s a scent between powdery and sweet. It smells good, but I think Mont Blanc’s Individual and Starwalker seem more imposing. Anyway, it’s a good option.
In my opinion, very elegant and sophisticated, formal but not boring. It’s a sweet and powdery scent with good longevity on the skin. Very versatile, for summer or winter, day or night. Great fragrance! On the plus side, its price: it’s not expensive for what it offers.
Subjective review: It happens to me with Prada Amber Pour Homme too; it bores me immensely. When I open my cabinet to choose, I never pick it; if I do, it’s out of obligation to avoid putting it in the ‘out of rotation’ pile. It gives me a feeling of good quality, like the other Mont Blancs I own, and the price is very good. The scent gives me a moderate aversion, but it’s very subjective. Performance is very good. No one has ever praised it. I find it similar to Kenzo Tokyo and somewhat like Lancôme’s Hypnose, fragrances I also don’t like.
To me, it smells like shaving cream; I don’t like it.
I’m not a huge fan of Mont Blanc, but this fragrance is delicate, masculine, and very elegant. Opens quietly but with a distinct presence. Ideal for special occasions. On my skin, heliotrope and spices stand out. It suits any season.
Incredible aroma, nothing boring—quite the opposite: ever-changing and captivating. Starts strong and sharp, pure cardamom and ginger, then cinnamon kicks in; at this stage, it smells like candy but isn’t cloying or feminine. In the dry-down, it reminds me of Burberry London but with everything it was missing: it becomes fun with a clean soapy scent that hooks you. Finally, similar to Dior Fahrenheit—musky, woody, and caramelized. It might hide leather, violet, and nutmeg even if they aren’t listed. Excellent longevity, around 12 hours, though it doesn’t project much; the idea is to invite people to get close and smell it.
Incredible scent and far from boring; it’s evolving and captivating. Opens strong with cardamom and ginger, then the cinnamon reminds me of candy without being cloying. In the heart, it smells like Burberry London but better, with a clean soapy touch that’s enchanting. At the dry down, it’s similar to Dior’s Fahrenheit, musky, woody, and caramelized. I think it has leather, violet, and nutmeg. Excellent longevity, about 12 hours, low projection but asks to be sniffed up close.
Bought this perfume based on the reviews, but I regret not trying it first. Smells like talcum powder or soap, nothing special, just clean. I wouldn’t recommend it. Scent: 7, Projection: 7, Longevity: 7, Sillage: 7.
I bought it based on other people’s comments and regret not smelling it first. It smells like talc or soap, nothing special, just smells clean. DO NOT RECOMMEND. Scent: 7, Projection: 7, Longevity: 7, Sillage: 7.
It was my first ‘expensive’ purchase along with the Victorinox Unlimited. It’s the ideal scent for watching the rain with a fireplace on: warm, elegant, and slightly fruity. Years ago, I wore it to a meeting in Mazamitla, Jalisco, and everyone asked what I was wearing because it looked perfect. The downside is the lack of projection after a few hours, like with all Montblancs, and this has worsened with recent bottles due to reformulations.
I’ve had it for several months and use it occasionally. I fell for it when I found a 75 ml Montblanc bottle at an unbeatable price: 404 pesos. At first, back in April, I didn’t like it much; it seemed sweet, very creamy, with little evolution. But among the few scents I own, it felt unique and different. Over time, using it sparingly on cooler days, I grew to love it. I think it suits mild cold better than heat; I feel wrapped in its creaminess. The cinnamon feels like a warm infusion on fresh days, the apple brightens the ginger, the cardamom makes it cozy, and the bean adds that slight initial sweetness. What can I say about something that cost me a quarter of the usual price? Setting aside the deal, I absolutely love it for these autumn days. No complaints. Lasts about 6 hours on my skin with a moderate trail for the first hour. A good option for the office or classes because it’s not loud. As they say, tastes differ, so relax—every opinion is just that.
I’ve had it for several months and use it occasionally. I snagged it at a bargain price ($404 MXN). At first, I didn’t like it much; it seemed too sweet with little evolution, but it’s a unique scent. Over time, I got used to it, especially on cool days. I feel wrapped in its creaminess; the cinnamon is like an infusion, and the apple adds brightness to the ginger. The cardamom and bean make it cozy. What else can I say about something that cost me a quarter of the normal price? I love it for autumn. It lasts about six hours on the skin. It’s good for the office or class—not loud. In matters of taste, gender stereotypes break down, so relax.
I had the old half-moon bottle version and now the current one. The bottle is elegant but less original than the previous one. The scent sums up in one word: ELEGANCE.
I had the original formulation, the one with the half-moon bottle and the atomizer on the base, and I just bought the current one, an elegant bottle but much less original than the old one. The scent sums up in one word: ELEGANCE.
Good, beautiful, and cheap. A totally valid perfume if you don’t want to overthink it and are looking for something for daily use, any occasion, that not everyone wears. It has a slight shaving foam scent that makes it masculine, but warm notes like cinnamon, apple, and ginger make it versatile and less conventional. Decent longevity and projection.
Good, beautiful, and cheap. It’s valid if you don’t want to overcomplicate things and are looking for something daily that not everyone wears. It has a touch of shaving foam that makes it masculine, but warm notes like cinnamon, apple, and ginger make it versatile. Longevity and projection are correct.
Clean aroma but very soft with little sillage. I liked how my husband wore it, but I wouldn’t repurchase.
One of my favorites. It’s clean, soapy, and fresh. Ideal for an informal white shirt or for school. It was one of my first perfumes, and people loved it. It brings back memories because my dad used to wear it too. 10/10.
One of the worst purchases I’ve made, along with Curve. It just smells like clean laundry, and that’s it—no projection, no longevity.
I love it. I bought it for the price, and it suits my skin amazingly well. It ends up smelling sweet and creamy, like Duvalin. It’s cheap, and I think this warm scent fits me perfectly, especially on light skin. It doesn’t smell like soap; if it did, I wouldn’t have bought it again.
Montblanc Presence is oriental, unique, distinguished, and clean. You can detect the cinnamon, ginger, and sandalwood; it’s ideal for the office or romantic dates. It feels mature, perfect for men 30+. I haven’t seen anything like it, and the price is top-notch. The longevity is moderate, but two sprays last eight hours. Try it before buying—it’s not for everyone, but it’s a great option.
Wearing it makes me feel bright and polished, like I’ve got a vibrant second skin that instantly puts me in a positive mood. Starting the morning with Presence is pure delight. I’ve never smelled it on anyone else; it’s a hidden gem at an incredible price, for sure.
I find it has poor longevity; you have to apply it 2 or 3 times a day. It doesn’t stand out at all. I think it’s a scent for people in their 40s. I didn’t like it at all. It’s fresh at first and has a clean scent. I’m wearing it in summer; maybe it would work better in the cold.
A blind buy, a serious mistake. The opening is slightly spicy and fresh at the same time, perhaps due to the cinnamon and apple. But as it dries down, a powdery and sweet scent dominates, something you’d probably smell on men over 50.
Montblanc Presence smells clean and slightly spicy. It’s a masculine fragrance, but in my opinion, it’s for people older and more mature than me right now. It’s not my type.

Gentlemen of heart, let me tell you, this is a beast of a perfume. Montblanc gives us another incredible gem, a fragrance for all seasons. It’s an amazing scent, mind you, it’s super masculine for real men, nothing of those who are asking for unisex. So don’t cry, this is a masterpiece of perfumery.
My dad gifted me this perfume; I think he enjoys giving me perfumes. With this, thanks to its broad scent profile, I was introduced to the world of perfumery. It opens spicy and cinnamon-forward, with cardamom present. It’s good, intense, and complex. I read it smells like talc, but I think it depends on the skin. As it dries down, the spices and vanilla take over, while the talc and citrus fade into the background. It lasts a good while, about 6 hours in my case. My skin is oily (a light coffee tone), and I think that’s where the magic lies. After almost 24 hours, the scent lingers, but that clean baby powder or old-man vibe remains, haha. Personally, I really like it; it always presents a sophisticated and penetrating profile without being imposing or too discreet, sweet but not cloying. It has its own unique personality. It’s not totally youthful; it’s more for attending a well-dressed meeting or a formal event. I’d say it vibrates more in autumn and winter, or spring when it’s not too hot yet. Would I recommend it? Yes, but I suggest testing it on skin for more than 24 hours, haha.
A MAN’S perfume, plain and simple, nothing for kids. It’s for men over 20, very versatile and easy to wear. Simple and reliable, it never fails for me. Montblanc knows how to make easy perfumes; you can smell the cinnamon and spices with the apple, a combination that’s hard to mess up. Women like it, but don’t overdo the sprays. It lasts well, projects well, and smells good: it has the three B’s. It’s not the eighth wonder, but it’s a solid 7/10. SPECTACULAR.
It makes me gag and feel nauseous; it’s almost identical to Le Male by Jean Paul Gaultier.
This is the perfume for a grown man, not for kids (I was about 22 back then 😄). A girl gave it to me around 2003 with the first half-moon bottle, a real beauty (now it’s discontinued). I always try to keep a bottle of this. It’s a powdery scent that relaxes you; in these times when everyone is going for trendy stuff, it’s worth trying.
I love it: it’s very masculine, aromatic, and fresh.
I’m not sure if this is versatile or just for cold weather. But it’s worth it: Montblanc is my favorite brand in this range, and this fragrance is no exception. Compared to the nineties, it doesn’t stand out much; if you wore it today, my boss would say it’s outdated. But next to One Million, it definitely stands out and smells damn good—nutty, cinnamon, and apple. I’m not sure if I’d buy it again, but I really like it. Scent 8/10, Price 8/10, Projection 7/10, Longevity 7.5/10.
