Descripción

Adolfo Dominguez Bambú Radiant Edition for men is a woody-spicy fragrance from the woody-spicy family. Launched in 2019, this composition was created by perfumer Ramon Monegal. Upon release, the scent unfolds a vibrant blend of pineapple, bamboo, bergamot, and grapefruit. The heart reveals a warm mix of rum, oud wood, solar notes, and spices, while the base settles on a foundation of incense, patchouli, licorice, and vetiver.

This new fragrance (at least for Argentina) seems fresh to me; I’d consider it for temperatures above 20°C. It could be ideal for walks, the office, and informal meetings with friends. I see a similar vibe to the new Vibrant Leather Bogoss by Sara, where the pineapple note also stands out. Versatility: 6. Longevity: 7. Projection: 7. Sillage: 6 (about an hour). Satisfactions: 7. Aroma: 8. I would recommend it, mostly for summer. Greetings to the whole community.

It’s a simple, generic fragrance, on par with a catalog perfume. It lasts 3-4 hours and projects little. If you’re thinking of spending a little, it’s not a bad option; in fact, it lasts longer than some designer fragrances. The scent is decent, people who smell it like it, and it’s not invasive, but it has nothing on Radiant. It’s the only Adolfo Domínguez product I know; I liked it, but I think Natura has better options for the price. What situations would I use it for? Casual, maybe one very casual outing, and nothing more. If you could give me advice, I’d say save a little and buy a better quality 50ml bottle instead of this 120ml one.

IF IT’S RADIANT: This fragrance could sit somewhere between a CK All and a Black XS, but fortunately, it has its own distinct touch. If you already own the original Bamboo Water, the opening will feel familiar: a very prominent grapefruit note, even more so than in the original version, fresh but sweeter. Quickly, a cocktail of sweet fruits takes over, with bamboo supporting the base notes in the background. If you’re looking for a rum scent, you won’t find it to your satisfaction since it’s not evident; I never quite understood the solar notes, but I imagine the warm sensation it radiates. As time passes, it becomes spiced, but there’s not much variation; the interesting part comes a few hours in, when it turns smoky, with that incense-and-tobacco-ash aroma that gives it depth. In my opinion, that phase is what makes it worth it, as it’s the most interesting stage. The woods give it a heavy touch that some will love and others won’t. I think it’s ideal for going out at night; if you’re a smoker, it complements the scent of cigar smoke on your clothes, parties, and gatherings. However, although it’s not very versatile, you can wear it on a non-hot day for the office. The character is relatively youthful, suitable for ages 20s to 50s. Longevity is very good considering the original Bamboo Water lasts a breath: 7-8 hours on clothes, about 5-6 on skin. The opening is almost explosive and loses power quickly, but it doesn’t fade to skin-level before the 5-hour mark. Another strong point is the price: you can find it at an incredibly attractive cost, so you won’t feel bad about reapplying. Recommended sprays: 6 to 10. Fixative rating: 8. Sillage: Medium. Intensity: Medium-Intense.

It might sound harsh, but with my post-Covid sense of smell, this fragrance reminds me of Terre d’Hermès, though it doesn’t come close to the quality of the latter. Has anyone else made this olfactory connection?

  • Another one of those that smells good, but if you already own another—specifically Montblanc Legend Night in this case—it’s not worth buying. The opening is practically identical. They differ slightly in the dry-down, but this one fades to skin-level quickly, whereas Legend Night feels more intense. It’s certainly pleasant, but if you have Legend Night, don’t bother buying this; and if you don’t have either, go for Legend Night since it offers better performance.

  • It’s an exquisite fragrance. I started my perfume journey with this: I loved it in 2021, struggled to find it in 2022, and that’s when I realized it’s a limited edition; it’s no longer available in Argentina, so I bought it online as an almost-full tester sample and now I have a decant to use whenever I want. I own many perfumes now, but I keep this for dates; people always compliment it and fall in love with me because of it. I wore it non-stop in 2021, 2022, and 2023. Today I own Acqua di Gio Essenza, Classic, Profumo, Blue Seduction, Wanted by Azzaro, Stronger With You, Oud Wood by Tom Ford, Khamrah by Lattafa, The One, Light Blue by Dolce, Valentino Uomo, and more, but this is my favorite. Next year, I’ll travel to Uruguay to buy another bottle.

It’s an exquisite and rich scent, very different from anything I’ve tried before. But it has one major flaw… it lasts a breath. Once you apply it, you can’t smell it anymore; nothing lingers on the skin. I used to take off my shirt after work and only smell it when sniffing the fabric. That’s why I haven’t bought it again. If they release an improved version with better longevity and projection, I would definitely buy it again.
