I bought it on a trip to Spain, in Seville. That scent transports me incredibly. I bought the case with cream and liquid soap; using the entire kit is incredible aromatherapy, relaxing for the bath and for getting out of it. The sillage is strong at the start and fades gradually, after 30 minutes. It doesn’t have much longevity, but I love its scent. I can’t find it in Central America, only Agua Fresca Extreme which I have and is amazing, super Mediterranean.
A modern and accessible classic (today 230ml/35€). In the mid-90s, options in the provinces were scarce: traditional perfumeries with luxury or Corte Inglés in the capital. If you wanted something fresh, almost only Lavender by Atkinsons was available. So, Agua Fresca was a breath of fresh air. It smells clean, citrusy, with lavender and herbal notes, affordable and easy to find. Adolfo Domínguez was synonymous with good dressing without ostentation and modernity; now it’s in a sales slump and it saddens me, the clothing quality remains great. Agua Fresca was refreshing and revitalizing, like carrying a spring water bath when the sun starts to heat up. I used it for years as a daily and weekend cologne, and girls loved it. It lasted a few hours with low projection, common for this type of fragrance, but you enjoyed it to the fullest. Over the years, more options came out. Since my mother doesn’t like almost any perfumes except floral and very soft citrus ones, and my father wasn’t interested, I gifted them a pack with shower gel and aftershave balm (which I also used). They both loved it, and there our paths diverged. It’s not for older people; I used it in my youth, and now it’s valid for all ages. The shower gel is delicious for summer. Inevitably, even though I don’t use it anymore, I have a good concept of it. It’s a piece of Spanish history and can be aromatherapy. Au revoir! PS: Adolfo Domínguez, I hope you recover your compass and the splendor of your fashion, and get out of your “fresh water” niche to release a new masculine and modern perfume.
FRESH WATER FOR MEN: another gem from ADOLFO DOMÍNGUEZ forgotten by the general public. I wish ACQUA DI PARMA had it in their catalog! In terms of quality, it smells better, although the Italian one wins on performance and price. Unfortunately, Adolfo also released UNICA (which I didn’t like) and FRESH WATER CITRUS (good scent, low performance). But let’s not forget my beloved BAMBOO and BAMBOO WATER, other economic wonders. ADOLFO DOMÍNGUEZ, alongside ANTONIO BANDERAS, has taken over from Parera and Myrurgia for Spanish pockets. Waters of great quality, good performance, and unbeatable prices. A lesson in honesty for the niche and designer brands that cheat us with expensive products that are often a bluff. FRESH WATER is aromatic, floral, herbal, and slightly woody, unisex, though it leans feminine. I’m glad many Spaniards have used a more feminine cologne without knowing it, amidst so much stale brainpower. It’s curious that it smells better on me than on others. A colleague used it and it bothered me due to the mix of his natural scent with the fragrance, not due to hygiene, but because it didn’t suit him. Same with a friend who wore VETIVER HOMME. These Adolfo perfumes always come to mind because Spaniards used them a lot, and I’ve heard them on many people, which doesn’t happen with POUR MONSIEUR or KOUROS. Now I think of ONE MILLION and INVICTUS, which smell like gym sweat because of the “muscles” they carry with anabolics and testosterone. They also abused FANTASY, but at least they smelled less like mixed sweat. FRESH WATER has a squat green tone due to petit grain, marjoram, hyssop, rosemary, and vetiver. The citrus notes don’t stand out, nor the pepper or cilantro from the notes, but rather the typical gin tonic juniper, bitter and aromatic. The flowers are lavender, an undeclared lily of the valley, and an air of lime blossom. The woody touch is sandalwood and soft patchouli, which here smells like wood, not damp floor. It’s linear but complex. Its sillage and performance are high, an affront to Guerlain with their volatile Allegories. The fact that it’s by RAMÓN MONEGAL must have helped a lot. Key perfumer, trained in Myrurgia, Grasse, Paris, and Switzerland: a true genius.
Cheerful, simple, happy, comforting, and fresh. A cologne water hard not to like or find annoying. It’s the perfect closet staple. For spring, summer, and mid-autumn (can be used all year). For the day and why not, for the night grabbing tapas with friends. Totally unisex.
I’m glad I found it again. I used it a lot, and then it stopped selling in my country (Chile). I bought it now, afraid it had been reformulated, but no, it’s exactly the same. The same beautiful fragrance I enjoyed so much. And it’s still very affordable. I recommend it.
It’s extraordinary. If it lasted longer, it would be a 10/10 and would make any other fragrance unnecessary. After an hour, it clings to the skin, and another hour later, it’s gone, what a pity.
Pleasant, interesting, and different, with a mature touch. Basically, it has three notes: citrus, vetiver, and sandalwood. It’s a super interesting experience: a rounded citrus, nothing sharp, with a woody base that adds vetiver and maturity. The sandalwood provides a creamy support that ties everything together. The green notes add some edge but aren’t fundamental, just like the florals, which blend into the creamy background and enhance the complexity. Ideal for heat and the office, it lasts quite a bit, projects well without being overwhelming. I see it as mature, perfect for 30 years old and up.
There’s a reason it reminds me a bit of Drakkar Noir; they share that freshness. It’s a gentleman’s Eau de Toilette. I agree 100% that it smells relaxing and pleasant. Longevity is moderate, but given the price and how easy it is to find here, use it without hesitation.
Delicious scent but fleeting longevity (reviewed 02/22). It starts fresh and within 10 minutes shifts to an aromatic profile: lavender, rosemary, and chamomile dominate the development alongside a creamy, clean base of sandalwood and musk. Fresh, green, and very Mediterranean, ideal for summer and personal use. It gives a total cleanliness sensation. For the price, buy the 200ml bottle because reapplication is mandatory after two hours. Let’s spray it on! Scent 9, longevity 3, sillage 4, value 7 (30€ for 120ml).
I write a lot, but today I’ll get straight to the point. I absolutely love Adolfo Domínguez fragrances, and this one smells like a vintage fougère. At first sniff, it reminds me of Calvin Klein’s Eternity or that Viking Cologne by Creed which was a bit of a fraud. If you’re looking for something modern, go for Citrus Cedro or Lima Tonka instead. It’s exquisite, vintage, and short-lived: those are its three keywords. It doesn’t last long and requires reapplication, but if you’re a fan of classic perfumery, it’s a must-have. Like everything from Adolfo, it fits right in your pocket.
It’s simply masterful in both aroma and composition; it develops beautifully. It might seem like it doesn’t last long, but it’s a unipersonal perfume created to be enjoyed by oneself; even after hours, you can still perceive it, though close to the skin, smelling like a fresh bar of soap, like just out of the shower. The feeling of cleanliness is unmatched. 10/10
Smells classic and fresh, perfect for starting the day right. For the office or something very relaxed, to wear right after a shower, that’s how I see it. Moderate duration and excellent price.
Classic fougère but still relevant for those who like it, which includes me. Fresh opening, drying down to an aromatic scent with lavender that makes you feel clean and neat; the dry down remains aromatic, slightly woody and creamy. Moderate performance. Reasonable price. Very versatile perfume, ideal for the office, spring, and summer. Great option.
A classic with a capital C… ignoring the performance issue, you have to try it at least once in your life, yes or yes.
What they’ve done to this fragrance is a full-blown crime. The reformulations have killed it. Until six or seven years ago, it was worth it; nowadays, not so much. Projection and sillage are non-existent, and longevity is at an absolute minimum. It’s not even a shadow of what it was when it launched or in the early 2000s. I don’t understand why companies do this to classic fragrances that are part of the olfactory and sentimental memory of so many people.
A lighter version of Drakkar Noir.
Reminds me a bit of Eternity Men EDT at first, then it dries down to a different path but remains fresh.
An authentic masterpiece by Catalan master Ramón Monegal. Years may pass, but Agua Fresca by Adolfo Domínguez will remain an imperishable classic. It’s one of the best blends of classic Italian-style cologne, à la Acqua di Parma, and the finest herbal fougère eau de toilette in history. Extreme freshness, wonderful aroma, quality and naturalness in the ingredients (eco-friendly before eco was trendy), correct and practical design, balsamic tones, invigorating, total versatility, and a popular price. A must-have for any collection. It’s addictive and affordable. Obviously, the current performance isn’t like the bottles from the 90s and early 2000s (note, it’s an EDT, a bit stronger than a typical citrus cologne). Old batches lasted 6 hours without issues, giving off great vibes and freshness like few fragrances, including super hyped and expensive niche scents. The current Agua Fresca doesn’t last me more than 3 hours, and you have to reapply it enthusiastically.
Well, what can I say: I’m a woman and bought this cologne by chance because the 60ml size is relatively affordable. The scent is incredible, clean and pure; it’s one of those that lifts your mood. It smells strong and masculine, but I don’t care because it doesn’t just boost my mood, but (I think) it lifts the mood of those around me too. I’ll definitely buy it again! And I’m eager to try more fragrances from master Monegal!!!
Out of all the ‘fresh water’ scents I’ve tried, this one lasts the longest. The others are nice but fade within a few hours; this one, depending on your skin chemistry, lasts 3-4 hours, whereas the others are gone after two. Smells amazing, buy it blind. 💯 X 💯 Recommended 🕉️🕉️🕉️
They really must be right about this fragrance being modified; I practically can’t smell it, just a little close to the skin even with several sprays, only a tiny bit of scented water. Incomparable to Citrus Cedro or Ebony Sage, for me the best I’ve tried from this brand.
Pine, sandalwood, and oakmoss… a classic alongside Flaño, Quorum, and Agua Brava…
A delicious old-school inspired bath cologne. Period.
A classic that shouldn’t be missing from any colony lover’s wardrobe…
What a terrible cheap soap smell!
A citrus-spiced scent from the good old days that evokes and invites you to wear it and enjoy it during hot weather.
This is such a horrible thing. It smells like cheap yellow Palmolive soap. Cheap and generic scent.
Very delicious fragrance, simply spectacular.
For years this was my favorite fragrance. At least until 4 or 5 years ago, when ‘Fresh Water 1993’ came out and the magic of its original scent changed. It no longer has the spark or charm of the classic ‘Fresh Water’; it’s like one of its key notes has just ‘broken’. Also, its projection isn’t what it used to be – neither in throw nor longevity. A real shame, honestly.
So gorgeous. I tried it at a perfume store on a blotter and absolutely loved it. It literally has a very ‘colony’ vibe that makes it rich and delicious. I’d define it as revitalizing, clean, and fresh. Just got it today and I’m noticing slight differences since I received an older version (2020 – still labeled Fresh Water) which feels more intense. Either way, I love it. 10/10 if you don’t like fragrances with herbal notes, this probably isn’t your style. It’s fresh-fresh.
Many say it smells like cheap soap. The puzzle is, how do they know that soap? But well, how do I explain? This is simple, and simple is lovely; less is more, this smells clean and that is synonymous with beautiful… Friends, this smells neat, and if you dislike the soap scent, I’m sorry to say you probably hate being clean and this isn’t really your profile… Those are stupid, malicious comments. If you don’t like something, don’t buy it. I love it; it’s a classic cut, lasts about 6 hours for casual and semi-formal use… Beautiful and good value.
I didn’t like it. I bought it for the excellent price, but I simply couldn’t tolerate the smell; I found it very herbal and it doesn’t have great longevity, projecting nothing. I’m not saying it’s a bad fragrance, just that I didn’t like it and ended up selling it; I won’t buy it again.
The opening is a fresh, luminous breath where citrus notes like bergamot and mandarin intertwine with marjoram and tarragon, evoking a damp path among freshly cut leaves. Petit grain adds a green, sharp, and slightly bitter nuance that awakens the senses naturally. In the heart, the perfume gains body and texture thanks to a classic aromatic blend: lavender, rosemary, and statice combine with pepper and coriander, painting a rugged, herbal, and lively picture. The dry down is earthy and sober, where vetiver, oakmoss, and patchouli settle on a base of pine and sandalwood, leaving a firm and serene trail. It’s a fragrance with values of authenticity, refined simplicity, and connection to nature. It’s directed at those who appreciate elegance without artifice, classic-taste men who find beauty in the sober and essential, with an honest and approachable attitude. If we translated it to classical music, it would be ‘O Crepúsculo dos deuses’ by Rogelio Groba: evocative, deep, and earthy. In jazz terms, it sounds like ‘A irmandade das estrelas’ by Abe Rábade, where the traditional blends with the contemporary softly. In color, it would be green brake fern: fresh, earthy, and always alive under the rain.
Completely agree with the previous review; this has been the perfume I use daily the most and it’s a delight. I recommend buying older batches; they perform much better. Starting from the bottles where they put ‘1993’ on the labels, performance has gotten much worse in longevity, projection, and especially in depth and definition of the fragrance. Salu2
Super refreshing cologne thanks to its citrus and aromatic touches, very much in the line of Dior’s Eau Sauvage. Although it’s labeled unisex, I see it as more masculine and for men 30 and up. Given the price, it’s well worth it for daily use, going to work, or any time of day; I consider it a go-to staple. While it can be worn year-round, it’s perfect for hot weather due to that very citrusy and herbal touch.
A classic. This citrus and herbal fragrance feels timeless, though it lacks a bit more delicacy; you sense it’s a little wild. It’s very pleasant to wear, not a beast but it has its strengths. It doesn’t stand out for originality but wins with its excellent quality-to-price ratio.
A true classic. Natural, green, clean, with that freshly cut grass and post-rain countryside feeling. It’s not the typical youthful perfume: it has maturity, elegance, and a nostalgic touch. It opens fresh and citrusy, then becomes more woody and earthy with vetiver and moss. Ideal for daily wear when you want to smell good without overcomplicating things. Lasts 5-6 hours on my skin with a moderate sillage, more intimate. Recommended for spring and summer days. Simple, elegant, and eternal. A fragrance that never goes out of style, a classic you always crave to wear again. Note: 7.5/10.
Hi, I picked this up last time for about 20€ for 120ml online during a sale. This isn’t my first bottle. With this quality-to-price ratio, it’s an excellent purchase. I’ve known it for years, and honestly, both the scent and longevity are exactly the same as always, which speaks volumes in its favor. For me, it conveys peace and, at the same time, a certain awakening. Many mornings I even spray it on my chair to start the day with better mood. I suppose that combo of citrus, rosemary, lavender, juniper, etc., evokes fresh countryside scents for me, which is very calming. On skin (dry in my case), it lasts about 4.5 hours max. On clothes, double that. Would I recommend it? Yes. It’s one of those fragrances I always like to have in my collection. Hope this helps. Cheers!
I got a 200ml set plus deodorant and shower gel for $25. An absolute steal compared to what you get. It smells clean, fresh, like a crisp white shirt. A masterpiece by Ramón Monegal.
My friends and family are shocked that I wear this perfume. Agua Fresca came out 12 years before I was born, so many think I’d skip it as ‘old-fashioned’. It’s a super versatile scent that doesn’t care about dates or situations; you can wear it whenever and wherever you want. It starts energetic with citrus and green notes, perfect for kicking off the morning like a rocket. Then it settles into woods like vetiver and sandalwood, with musk and patchouli, making it relaxing for an afternoon tea or a walk. It’s very affordable, lasts a long time, and has great projection for the first hour.
