  • It’s a gem… One of the most exquisite fragrances I’ve ever tried. My only complaint is its performance; I’d like a bit more longevity and sillage. It’s a sweet, spicy aroma, a super rich anise that feels natural and not tiring. I don’t think I could buy anything else after smelling this. It’s a very rich fragrance, suitable for fresh, cold, or outdoor climates, as well as mild days or indoor settings. 100% recommended.

  • I haven’t written a review in a while, but I think this occasion deserves it. The other day, while buying Christmas gifts, I was given samples of Amber Noir. I wore it two days ago and I still remember… it was horrible. I’m about to request a refund from the store that gave it to me. To me, it’s ridiculous: totally synthetic, one of those scents that bothers you and gives you a headache. Plus, it wouldn’t go away. If I had to say what it smells like, I couldn’t; certainly not like anise. It smells like generic cleaning product. Truly horrific, I can’t stand it. This always happens to me with Adolfo Domínguez.

  • I’m surprised! I’ve never used a perfume from this designer before. The presentation and color caught my attention. I tried it, liked the scent, bought it, and I have no regrets. It’s 100% sweet anise and lasts all day. I recommend it for cold, fresh days and for the evening. Considering the price and longevity, it’s fair value, 100% recommended.

  • It’s a pleasant perfume. It’s nice to have the aroma on my skin for more than 5 hours. Nothing groundbreaking about the scent, but I’m happy with this AD proposal.

  • My first AD perfume. The first time I tried it, I loved it, but after a few hours, I noticed it was a bit overwhelming. I eventually got used to it; it was just the beginning. The sillage lasts about an hour, and the perfume itself stays on my skin for 5 to 6 hours. Totally recommended for fresh days and for its accessible price. I’m not a fan of anise, but here it feels well-balanced with the amber.

  • Axechocolat

The scent is rich and I always get compliments. The sillage is incredible and lasts over 8 hours; you can still smell it on my skin. For the price, it’s a great deal, and I feel like it’s a clone of Stronger With You Absolutely. From my experience, it performs like the Armani version but is less intense, so I wouldn’t wear it at night, but rather for a date with my girlfriend without creating the tension that the Absolutely gives. 8/10.

Adolfo Domínguez fragrances are usually simple and reliable, but this one is different. Not only does it deliver, it goes way beyond. It’s very similar to SWY, so what’s the big deal? You’re getting 120ml of nearly identical quality. It’s like comparing the citrus of Dior Homme Cologne to the cedar in this one. I’ll keep using it to test the longevity, but the opening is enough for me to be satisfied.

  • CristianFM

Adolfo Domínguez is back with another good perfume. Yes, it has a huge similarity to SWY, but it’s slightly more wearable and half the price. It’s a very trendy scent, playing in the same league as Scandal, Wanted By Night, Most Wanted Parfum, OM Royal, and SWY. Recommended for everyday wear in autumn, winter, and spring, day or night depending on how many sprays you use. Awesome!

  • At first, the opening felt a bit chemical, but once it settles on the skin, it delivers exactly what’s promised: it’s like ‘Stronger With You’, just softer, with star anise taking center stage. Over time, the cinnamon and amber really shine. The sillage is powerful at first, but after an hour, it’s clinging to the skin. If you’re looking for something for fresh or cold days that isn’t heavy or intrusive, this is a great option. For those used to very sweet scents like 9PM or JPG, or beginners, it might seem a bit serious or ‘old school’ compared to others, so I’d suggest testing it before buying.

Overall, I like Adolfo Domínguez perfumes because they don’t try to shock you, but they don’t miss the mark either, and they fit the price point. Sure, some might say they lack longevity and projection, and they might be right, but they’re still great buys. The name caught my eye, and I loved the bottle; knowing the brand, I wasn’t disappointed. It doesn’t have a complex evolution; the sweet, spicy anise is noticeable from the start—serious but not overly formal. I see it as ideal for night events in cool weather or days when wearing a jacket or coat. Projection is moderate, and longevity is good. It’s not meant to compete with egos, nor is that its intention. Personally, it suits me, and I don’t rule out buying it soon. I recommend giving it a try; I doubt many will regret it.

The Adolfo Domínguez house, especially for its quality-to-price ratio, makes quite good fragrances, and this Black Amber is one of them. To me, it smells like a mix of Armani’s SWY (watch out, it’s not an identical clone as some have said too lightly), with phases of the sticky sweetness of the legendary Invictus by Paco Rabanne, and in the base the synthetic fixative of Dior Sauvage EDT that made it last hours. It has an anise base note (watch out, totally synthetic, don’t expect miracles for €30). If you don’t like the note, run away; it’s cheesy. Super ambered and candied sweetness, very trendy. In the case of AD Black Amber, it smells like ambered and cinnamon-spiced anise, very sweet and somewhat cloying (especially in summer, beware of the trigger). Performance is weak to moderate, max 4-5 hours. I expected more compared to the others it tries to resemble, but that’s what you get for the price. Majority intention, popular, especially in Spain, with a more than adjusted price. From €30 to €50 in bottles up to 200 ml. For a gift to a family member or friend without leaving your card trembling, or as an economical alternative to current designer perfumery totems, I think this Black Amber is awesome.

  • Maximo002

Well, as it dries down or a bit before, it starts to remind me of Antonio Banderas’ Diavolo, or maybe my nose is lost.

  • Gustavo_1992

I don’t understand why people say it’s a dupe of the SWY EDT; there’s nothing alike. The latter lacks the perfectly crafted anise essence of the AD, which is totally natural. I wouldn’t use the SWY EDT for daily wear. The AD Black Amber seems much better for daily use, as a signature scent. It has moderate to long longevity, certainly close to the skin, which I love so I don’t bother anyone. After searching for several options for my signature scent—modern, more masculine than just sweet—I think this is the one. Nothing like the repetitive influencer reviews on TikTok, simplistic ones that just repeat what someone else said.

  • STGO.DECANT

Good perfume. It’s not as sweet as the SWY and doesn’t resemble it much in reality, but I understand that for some noses it has the ‘vibe’ many times. When comparing perfumes, I prefer to say it has a ‘vibe’ rather than an ‘equal to’. It’s a more wearable aroma for daily life since it’s not so sweet. Totally recommended, but get it at a good price outside of retail (no more than €15). At that price, they usually sell Adolfo Domínguez sets.

  • My reviews are short and direct: I love the scent, especially the anise opening. It smells great on my skin, soft and non-invasive; I can smell it deep and I enjoy it. Short longevity but acceptable, excellent value for money. Ideal for autumn, winter, or spring nights.

  • Very pleasant fragrance; you can clearly smell the anise with a sweet touch from the amber. It projects for an hour and a half, it’s intense but not invasive; then it fades and stays with me for another 3-4 hours in my personal bubble. I’d wear it in autumn and winter; given the quality-to-price ratio, it could be daily. I’m not a fan of anise, but this one is wearable, and Adolfo Domínguez fragrances are usually easy to wear and natural.

  • iDestruccion

Beyond the price, it smells delicious with a dominance of sweet spices. It’s a great option for cool nights, especially during the holidays. It doesn’t announce itself, but once you discover it, you’ll surely get compliments.

  • Ámbre_gris_kine

I think it’s a great perfume; I got it as a Christmas gift and it smells like SWY EDT when it dries down, so that’s a huge plus for buying it. It’s sweet, so its best moments are at night and in the cold, but if you want to wear it in the heat, it’s up to you. Definitely a pleasant, soft, wearable, and very long-lasting scent.

  • If you want to feel star anise and amber, try it: it’s sweet, perfect for freezing days and that cozy Christmas vibe. It doesn’t quite work for me, but that amber note gives it a mysterious, sexy air—almost masculine in its slight sweetness, ending up unisex-masculine.

  • Juan Pablo Melgoza Maldon

In my opinion, it’s one of the best in the Adolfo Domínguez collection. Incredible how just three ingredients create such an attractive scent. What a delight: that sweet anise and spicy cinnamon are a constant pleasure every time I apply it. The perfume and atomizer quality are superior to many more expensive ones. Most people will like it, and it’s not hard to use: attractive for night outs, afternoons, events, or dates. Its habitat is cool months and spring nights, but not for summer. It’s cozy, projects well, and lasts 7 to 10 hours.

  • This smells like pure anise. Although I like anise, there’s too much of it. The only moderately pleasant part is the skin-close aroma, since the anise isn’t that intense there. If this resembles SWY, the hype it’s getting isn’t deserved.

  • Albertini79

Adolfo has come out with a blatant and charming brother. It reminds me of a slightly simple friend who, if you’re not careful, will steal your girlfriend. It’s a warm, homemade-style spicy scent: an amber base with cinnamon and star anise. Naturally, those who hate these spices won’t like it. Otherwise, it’s very usable for late afternoons and cool nights. Decent performance, one of the best from the brand in that regard. It’s a great success, provided you don’t dislike anise. For the price, it’s excellent.

  • campeones22

At first, it doesn’t say anything new… but as it dries down, it resembles SWY a lot. Be careful, it resembles SWY, but SWY has higher-quality notes.

  • david_david

It’s the spring/summer edition of SWY. If it had more power, it would be a top-tier perfume.

  • 111maxi22

A blatant copy of SWY, spectacular in both scent and quality. It lasted a long time on my wrist; you’d have to buy it to test its performance.

  • diegomagadan

My favorite Adolfo Domínguez scent so far. It’s one of those with names that have nothing to do with the smell, but this one exceeds expectations. To the point: it’s heavily aniseed with a touch of cinnamon. It doesn’t bother, smells great, and is different. Although it’s not heavy, it darkens as it dries, boosting the anise and cinnamon. Armani’s SWY EDT is similar in genre, but they aren’t the same; this has its own personality.

  • ffaundezm

It’s the budget version of Azzaro Wanted By Night. Mind you, I disagree with the SWY comparison.

  • Curious. It shares that sweet nougat and cinnamon profile of TMW EDP or SWY Intensely, but with a less spicy black amber. It leans closer to TMW EDP, though it lacks that strong pinch of cardamom that gives it character; without it, it’s less invasive and more subtle. I’d recommend it if you can’t afford the originals.

  • Love this cologne; I adore the SWY EDT and this one is very similar plus it’s affordable ($30 in Mexico). It works super well in the current cold.

  • Rick Azafranado

I wore it all day. It’s affordable, sweet, and perfect for night… but now it has a note that doesn’t fully satisfy me. I’ve tried the Azzaro and SWY versions, and while this perfume is very similar, it has something I don’t like, something synthetic, I don’t know. I’d prefer the Azzaro or SWY a thousand times over because they don’t have that feeling. It’s not a bad scent at all now…

  • Fragranticman

I was gifted this and wouldn’t have chosen it myself. It’s sweet and spicy, with very noticeable cinnamon and star anise, but they aren’t the main stars like in oriental spicy scents. It has nothing to do with the current Wanted By Night: the Azzaro version is a sweet fruity salad, like bubblegum, and feels childish. This one has intimate projection, is versatile for all ages, and while sweet, has spicy nuances. I’m not into this type of perfume, but the ingredient quality and blend are good, typical of A.D. in its price range. It’s not bad, but I doubt I’d wear it, except in cool climates.

  • This fragrance won my heart. I was gifted it a year ago and at first it didn’t grab my attention, but every time I wore it, my family said it smelled great, and even the girl I liked mentioned it. It has a warm and sweet aroma, with that touch of cinnamon that makes it special. I would definitely buy it again.

  • It’s very rich. Obviously, it has a known DNA, like Amw etc. I’ll include one that’s 60% similar: Asad Bourbon.

  • Pleasant fragrance for daily use, not really for night. It’s my first fragrance from Adolfo Domínguez. It might have similarities to Armani’s SWY in terms of being spicy and overwhelming if you apply many sprays, but it lacks that sweet touch; it goes a different route. I bought it because it didn’t seem as blue as the bottle color, but it has a salty base I like with the anise and cinnamon among the green notes. Personally, I’d make it sweeter, but still recommendable.

  • What a rich scent! It’s not cloyingly sweet or invasive; it’s well-balanced. It’s like a walnut cake with a fresh hint of anise right when you take it out of the oven.

  • It smells amazing at first, it’s a hit and I recommend it, especially if you catch it on sale. But on a day at uni, I noticed that after two hours there was nothing left, and I didn’t expect that. In the end, they told me it doesn’t project much at all, so be careful with that.

  • SrEpectacular

I tried it and honestly, for what it offers, it’s a bit pricey, but it’s a good perfume. I recommend it for cold climates; it works perfectly day or night. It smells like incense and I’ve gotten tons of compliments, haha.

  • Top notes are great; it lasts 4.5 hours on skin and 1 hour projecting, but on clothes it sticks for 12 hours with constant sillage. Smells good, reminiscent of the dry-down of 9PM without being as synthetic; the dry-down highlights the spice and anise, bringing me back to Your Touch Intense but with better quality. A good product for everyday wear if it’s under 68 degrees.

  • Here’s the summary so you don’t get lost: Adolfo Domínguez’s Black Amber with SWY is like Halloween Man with One Million.
