I picked it up as an exclusive at my local perfumerie and what luck, I smelled it right away. I love how it mixes sweetness (very vanilla-forward) with red berries that smell like mango. At first, it’s vanilla and mango, and in the dry down it feels like the original Angel again. What a pity they’ve fruitified it so much.
The younger sister of Angel a less rough simpler and friendlier version. Definitely has the Angel DNA with a patchouli that feels a bit mentholated at first but it’s not as strong here. It’s sugary and tart due to an overdose of berries (I detect lots of blackcurrants and raspberries) which reminds me a bit of Innocent in the middle phase and the base is creamier and more vanillic. It’s not as powerful as the other Angel versions I’ve tried but it lasts quite a bit on the skin; after a few hours the trail of the original hits me :D. It’s great… it’s super sweet fluffy coquettish and youthful yet still not cloying. I really like it!
Angel’s little sister: less rough, simpler, and friendlier. It has Angel’s DNA, with a patchouli that’s a bit minty at first but not overpowering here. It’s sugary and tart thanks to the overdose of blackberries (I detect blackcurrants and raspberry too), reminiscent of Innocent in the middle, with a creamier, more vanilla base. It’s not as potent as other Angel versions I’ve tried, but it lasts quite a while; after hours, I can still catch the trail of the original :D. It’s great, super sweet, fluffy, flirtatious, and youthful without being cloying. I love it.
Angel Eau Sucrée is a special fragrance not because it’s revolutionary like the 1992 original but because it represents a cheerful crunchy and friendly perspective of that grandiose scent. It’s one of the best at lifting my mood just by smelling it. The opening is pure meringue dominance; although it’s a heart note I feel it throughout the entire development. The red berries are a minimal backdrop to take the edge off and make it less overwhelming (in fact it reminds me of a Chilean cereal called ‘Zucaritas’). Then the meringue swallows the vanilla to regain vitality leaving a scent like fresh-baked pie dough: crunchy and sugary. Finally it all concludes with the same patchouli as the original but here the formula is inverted: the meringue settles on a microscopic amount of patchouli. It’s enchanting crunchy sparkling with a cosmic joy that reminds me of Britney Spears’ Midnight Fantasy (ironically both can give cavities to those sensitive to sweets and Eau Sucrée could be reincarnated as a lost sugar star in the Orion belt). It can also be seen as a less transgressive softer version of Angel although its distance from the original is undeniable so don’t buy it just based on your love for the classic (which by the way has a reasonable price). The sillage is interesting: the original Angel hit you in the face but this one is more timid and reserved less overwhelming although the longevity is compliant though somewhat reduced compared to the original. It’s gorgeous it will cause a stir in the cold although it could induce a diabetic coma in the heat (don’t recommend over-applying).
Angel Eau Sucree is special not for being revolutionary like the 1992 original, but for its joy and comfort. It’s one of the happiest fragrances I’ve ever tried; just smelling it makes me smile. The opening is dominated by meringue; even though it’s a heart note, I feel it all the time. The red berries are a minimal backdrop just to take the edge off and prevent it from being too overwhelming (it reminds me of a Chilean cereal called ‘Zucaritas’). Then the meringue absorbs some of the vanilla to regain vitality, leaving a scent of a freshly baked pie, crisp and delicious. Finally, the same patchouli as the original, but here the meringue dominates over a pinch of patchouli. She’s enchanting, crisp, and sparkling, with a cosmic joy that reminds me of Britney Spears’ Midnight Fantasy (both can give cavities to the sugar-sensitive). It’s a less transgressive, softer version of Angel, though the difference from the original is clear, so don’t buy it if you’re hunting for the classic. The price is reasonable. The trail is more timid and less overwhelming than the original Angel, but the longevity is good, just slightly shorter. Precious for cold weather, but be careful in the heat (don’t over-apply).
Bought it on a trip to the south tried it and loved it. Definitely the simple cheerful version of Angel. Sweet happy and with great longevity you can wear it all day.
I bought it on a trip to the south and I loved it. Definitely the simple, cheerful version of Angel. Sweet, fun, and with great staying power, you can wear it all day.
This fragrance is very sweet yet balanced at the same time. The acidic berries help tame the meringue bomb a bit but can’t stop it when it explodes. By the fifth hour I clearly sense a soft vanilla and the timid patchouli which honestly is my favorite stage. Longevity? About 11 hours until it fades on the skin. Sillage? Perceptible but respectful of personal space. Angel Eau Sucrée you’re sticking with me.
Love it; the scent seems like a mix between Christian Dior’s Dolce Vita and the traditional Angel… something like that…
Beautiful perfume very cute and very ‘girly’. Mugler lasts forever so I’ll be smelling like meringue all afternoon which I absolutely love.
Another Angel that I’m falling in love with… Sweet very fruity and delicious. Bought it blind and it was love at first sniff. Another Mugler perfume that’s staying on my vanity.
Took it out of the closet after a couple of years. Nothing has changed; the scent is preserved intact. It’s been more than 24 hours since I applied it and I can still smell it; excellent longevity. It’s softer than the original Angel but the scent doesn’t vary much throughout its evolution.
I bought it blind… before I tried the traditional Angel and Muse, which overwhelmed me 😖. I saw many reviews of this one and decided to try it since it’s discontinued. Honestly, I have no regrets 😍. It has Mugler’s DNA but is much more wearable and less invasive. I love it.
Got it blind… I hadn’t even tried the traditional Angel or Muse before and they seemed too intense to me 😖. I saw lots of reviews and decided to hunt it down because it’s discontinued and honestly I have no regrets 😍. It has the Mugler DNA but it’s much more wearable and less invasive. I love it!
After searching for it for a long time I finally found this version of Angel. Honestly I’m not sure yet if I’m going to love it. It smells great when dry but the opening leaves me with some doubts. That patchouli doesn’t quite work for me. I tested it in the middle of summer with temperatures over 30 degrees so I’ll save the bottle to try it in winter; I think it will shine more in the cold. For now it has the DNA of the classic (maybe that’s what doesn’t sit right with me haha) but with a much sweeter and pleasant finish. And you might ask: why look for a flanker if you don’t like the original? Well because I love ALL of Mugler’s flankers life’s quirks and all. I’ll expand on this review in the winter.
After searching for ages, I finally found this Angel version. Honestly, I still don’t know if I like it or not. The dry down is lovely, but the opening gives me pause. There’s something about that patchouli that doesn’t quite work for me. I tested it in summer with over 30 degrees, so I’ll save the bottle to try it in winter, as its notes seem to shine more in cooler climates. For now, it has the classic Angel DNA (maybe that’s what I don’t like, haha), but with a much nicer, sweeter finish. And you might ask: why look for an Angel flanker if you don’t like the classic? Well, because all its flankers DO make me laugh haha. Life is weird. I’ll expand on the review in winter.
