Wanted by Night by Azzaro

This fragrance holds a special place in my heart. I’ve been into perfumes since I was 12, but I always only wore two sprays on my neck to go out. I tried everything: 212 MEN, Black XS, One Million, Pure XS. A year ago, I got bored of Pure XS and decided to look for something new. I tried several and chose Azzaro Wanted By Night because it sounded mysterious and interesting. Every time I wore it, I felt captivated by its intensity without being cloying; the cinnamon was so sharp that people always asked what I was wearing. I started researching and today I’m inseparable from Fragrantica. Now I know what captivated me was that blend of cinnamon, tangerine, and tobacco. I love it and have proudly worn it outdoors in summer, although sometimes the intensity was distracting. Definitely shines more in winter. Batch 2022: exquisite aroma, very marked cinnamon with tangerine and tobacco, fruits soften everything, and there’s a subtle touch of incense, benzoin, and leather over cedar and Iso E Super. As it dries down, the projection drops and you can smell the vanilla close to the skin. Performance: projects strongly for the first hour and a half, then drops a lot, and after two hours it’s just skin. Sillage: 6 to 8 hours. Scent and innovation: 9.5/10. Longevity: 8/10. Projection: 5/10 (many Arab scents project more). Versatility: 6/10. Price: 9/10 (here in Chile it doesn’t go over $60 USD). Appeal: 9/10 (except for those who only want intense vanilla). It lacks projection, but with that accord, I’m content just smelling it on myself after two hours.

Incredible aroma for the price and quite high quality; it even sounds complex. I’ve read that it “smells like detergent” (in a good way) and I get it, I felt something similar at first due to the lavender, which smells clean and sweet. The opening is brutal, something citrusy with a spicy touch thanks to the cinnamon. The dry-down notes are great, making it seductive. The heart is woody with a green and fresh touch; although I don’t see it on Fragrantica, I feel there’s pepper. Then in the base, dense and persistent notes that hold up the top: sweet and woody, highlighting the vanilla and tobacco that give it that masculine/youthful touch. An incredible aroma that on my skin lasts between 6 and 8 hours. Projects almost two hours. Perfect for winter, also for a night or autumn. In summary: sweet, complex, and seductive. It’s “quality/price” because for what it offers, it doesn’t seem expensive. I give it a 10 for the scent.

A seductive fragrance: Azzaro Wanted By Night is exceptional and has captivated my heart. From the first spray, I was intrigued by its elegance and character. The initial notes of tangerine and cinnamon create a warm and spicy opening that envelops you in mystery. As it develops, the tobacco and cedar blend sublimely, adding depth and masculinity. What sets it apart is its ability to last. It awakens passions and desire. It’s perfect for lovers of intense fragrances. Sillage: Moderate. I recommend it more for cold days, although it’s enjoyed in the heat due to the fruity notes. Strong recommendation.

In Spain, this fragrance was discontinued quite some time ago. It was sold for a while with the reformulation by the new distributor, but it had nothing to do with the original formula: watery notes, many missing, poor projection, and short longevity, which was already an issue with the 2018 version, though to a lesser extent. I don’t know if it’s still sold anywhere, but it hasn’t been in stores for ages. It was reformulated and then delisted from the WANTED AZZARO line. I had the original and now I keep the ‘bad’ one as a memory. It had a youthful vibe with mature tendencies; the reformulation made it more youthful but with terrible performance.

As I mentioned, I bought it and at first it gave me youthful, party-like impressions. I’ve worn it at night before bed, and contrary to what reviewers aged 28-30 said that it was ‘mature and dark’, I see it differently: you don’t perceive the background tobacco or leather. The incense, maybe, is very soft, like Dylan Blue but almost non-existent. What really stands out is the sweet, friendly patchouli. It’s super youthful, fruity, and sweet, with vanilla undertones. It has no maturity or darkness. Ideal for young folks aged 15 to 25, perfect for ‘firing off foam bullets’.

Cinnamon with character! ⚠️ Only for cinnamon fans. It starts with lavender and citrus, but within seconds, cinnamon takes over, mixed with wood, tobacco, and patchouli. The first hours are intense; the only thing that bothers me is a synthetic ‘cinnamon gum’ note. As it dries down, an herbal facet emerges that completely changes the game. It’s rich, but not for everyone. Test it on your skin and wait an hour before deciding. I don’t see it as unisex: it’s a masculine cinnamon scent with a lot of personality. Note: 8/10. It’s not bad, just not universal.

Solid vibe, Wanted by Night. Starts fresh with citrus and lavender, then builds up with cinnamon, tobacco, and incense. In the end, it smells like leather and vanilla; it’s not a disaster, but a well-crafted blend that looks and smells great. Perfect for cool or cold nights: it gives warmth and leaves a mark, ideal for dates. Not a masterpiece, but it delivers, stands out, and wins. Scent: 10. Projection: good (intense for over 2 hours). Longevity: 7-8 hours. Recommended.

The opening didn’t surprise me, but I changed my mind as it dried down. It smells youthful, like Skittles or tropical fruit gum. If you like Invictus or One Million, you’ll love it; it seems less likely someone would wear it compared to Paco Rabanne’s scents. As it dries down, the sweetness becomes more noticeable, so it might not be suitable for certain occasions. With controlled use, it could be worn during the day, but be careful with the heat.

In my opinion, it’s cloying, but the more I got used to it, the more I liked it. They told me it smelled like ‘Christmas’ with this Azzaro. I highly recommend it for Christmas parties due to those fruity notes and the cinnamon that gives that festive vibe. I find it a bit dapper, not super versatile, but if you’re looking for something mature, fruity, and warm, it’s a good option.

Wanted by Night is a modern gem: it blends cinnamon, cedar, and tobacco with class. It smells captivating and sophisticated, perfect for bold people who want to stand out. The notes evolve beautifully, creating an aura that draws eyes. It lasts a long time and defines your adventurous yet refined style. Unforgettable for evenings.

I wear this for dates and compliments. It never fails; every time I put it on, I get comments like “you smell so good” or “what are you wearing?”. It’s a sweet pineapple without being cloying, with a hint of cinnamon. It’s not the best in quality, but it performs excellently. For cool weather or cool nights, it’s a total hit.

If it smells generic at first, wait a moment. It’s not synthetic; it’s that the cinnamon might remind you of One Million. Wait, and the perfume will do its magic: a sweet and divine scent without being cloying, with a creamy, serious base, excellent longevity and projection. Ideal for going out at night.

There’s not much more to add, as everything has already been said… but it’s incredible. My only drawback is that I live in Mérida (Yucatán, Mexico), where it’s around 35°C. If you live in a temperate or cold climate, it’s highly recommended. It’s a gem, like all perfumes in this line.

It’s an incredible perfume, are there better ones? Yes, but let’s not take away its merit from this scent bomb. It’s seductive, warm, and youthful; it smells of tangerine, cinnamon, tobacco, and fruit, with excellent performance and an unbeatable price. 100% recommended.

The opening is a fresh woody scent; it reminds me of my favorite, Gucci Pour Homme 2003. Then it gets sweeter; when it dries down, it gives off Bad Boy Extreme vibes. It’s a good option for parties or night dates, especially in winter or when it’s cold.
