I bought it looking for a rose scent, and partly because I was seduced by the ad. The aroma is pleasant, and the rose is a pale pink with a silvery tint, just like the box—it certainly has beauty. However, it doesn’t fascinate me. Once I finish the bottle, which I really like because of its solid glass, I’ll keep looking for my rose in other fragrances. Over time, though, I grew to like it much more. It’s a delicate, very natural rose, accented with fruits.

  • SeleneHdez

This perfume is very cheerful and feminine. I find it refreshing; it smells like a fresh rose garden. The lychee is also very prominent, adding that tart note that I enjoy. It’s ideal for daytime wear.

  • A very refined, pleasant, and non-heavy fragrance. It’s one of those scents I call ‘cool’ (like Burberry Sport Woman). Although I won’t repurchase it because I find it slightly metallic and it puts me in a sad mood for some reason—I don’t know why—it definitely lowers my spirits. It feels very much like a winter scent, but since it’s not overwhelming, it doesn’t look bad in other seasons either. I love wearing it to sleep; waking up to it smells delicious, like sweet, sparkling roses. The downside is that I notice it doesn’t have much longevity or sillage on my skin.

Rose The One feels like a blend of two perfumes: L’Eau The One by Dolce & Gabbana and Especially by Escada. Rose is the star, but not a dusty, mature, sensual rose; it’s fresh, dewy, and radiant. Citrus notes, lychee, and vanilla wrap around it, giving it a cheerful, youthful vibe that I absolutely love. Now that it’s winter, the scent fades a bit because it’s light, but it should be perfect for spring.

  • Lolaleighton

Excellent perfume; I already had La Impératrice by Dolce and Light Blue. It has excellent longevity and it’s not that annoying rose smell; thanks to the blackcurrant and mandarin, it has a fresh touch. I use it at night to sleep, it relaxes me and makes me feel sexy. I recommend it for winter because it’s denser, though it can be used other times since it’s not the typical sweet-sweet scent.

  • Sissy Emperatríz

I neither like nor dislike it; it’s too shy to create excitement. It smells just like the original The One but with a touch of rose, and watch out, the original smells much better. It’s a pity this one lacks strength and sillage; I don’t know why they make them so weak.

  • Hi, I’m Paloma and I’m new here! I have a collection of many divine perfumes, but I’m looking for something with a woody base and a cinnamon heart, rich and seductive, that lasts hours. That’s why I buy so much; I’m looking for something unique that doesn’t make you smell like everyone else. I already have several floral scents that are divine, but with over 60 perfumes, I can’t find what I want. Does anyone have any recommendations?

  • If you’re looking for a fresh rose, slightly sweet and vanilla-like, subtle, elegant, and cheerful, this is the one. I love the projection of the rose here, very fresh, like with dew, modern and balancedly enhanced by mandarin and lychee, what a delight. Very chic. The bottle keeps the shape of The One but in metallic pink, very descriptive. Rose with dew, springtime rose. I love it!

  • Hi, welcome to Fragrantica! If you have questions or want to make suggestions, it’s best to do so in the Forum, where there are open threads for that. On the product pages, only leave opinions about the scent, not questions. Check the topics and ask where appropriate!

  • Perfect perfume for spring and summer: fresh and floral, but unlike other florals, it has a special delicacy and subtlety that sets it apart; I’d say it’s a romantic floral. There’s also a warm, dense base note that, in my opinion, is the vanilla, very present on my skin when it settles. THE BIG PROBLEM: it has no sillage or longevity. I tried it with excessive amounts, but nothing; neither I nor anyone else could smell it after ten minutes. I absolutely don’t recommend it because, although the rose, lychee, and vanilla blend fell in love with me from the start (which is why I bought it), it simply isn’t worth buying a perfume at that price that doesn’t smell for anything.

  • I tested it on the typical blotter and it was still smelling the next day. I liked it quite a bit. Be careful with fakes; these DG perfumes are quite imitated.

  • Hi, I’m new to this too. For paloma12, there’s a perfume called Prada Candy that meets your requirements. I haven’t smelled it, but based on the reviews, I’m going to try it, although I’m more of a sweet cologne person.

  • Absolutely delicious! The blackcurrant, musk, lilies, and rose make a great combination. It’s not heavy, it’s pleasant… a beautiful fragrance.

  • I really like it; I bought it twice and have no regrets. It smells sweet and fresh at the same time, like grapefruit and vanilla. It lasts 4-6 hours on my skin. I didn’t buy a third bottle after the second one because it’s not indispensable, but it’s very delicious 🙂

  • Barbie Universe Edition: targeted at little girls and young women, but also for women who feel the spark of youthful, naive femininity. It’s not mature, complex, or mystical; it lacks many nuances, but it has a good balance of intensity and sweetness. It’s not cloying; the notes aren’t invasive and it’s creamy, blending with the skin to form an angelic, innocent, feminine, and tender aura. Sometimes my brain groups similar scents that remind me of something known. In another review about Something About Sofia, I mentioned the resemblance to cosmetics, specifically the Bathina cream—a very distinctive smell. But the perfume that nails that cream scent is Rose The One, and its body lotion is incredibly similar; it smells super close to Bourjois’ Java Rice Powder. It’s an inspiring rose-and-vanilla-cream scent, super feminine and young, reminding us of dolls from the era when girls’ products were saturated with scents that stimulated our sense of smell. We smelled perfumed papers like hounds, identifying them with our eyes closed… and it turned us into perfume addicts. That ‘olfactory education’ in childhood could be the basis for the importance of aromas in today’s consumerism, through a subconscious emotional link—not just in bottled perfumes but in cosmetics (e.g., Yves Rocher tests acceptance in creams before launching fragrances). We are surrounded by reference fragrances, so certain cosmetics or perfumes, including this one, with their ‘doll’ scent, tap into deep olfactory memories. There may be other similarities, but between Rose The One and Something About Sofia, having both in my collection, I perceive common notes. Although the latter goes beyond the creamy rose-vanilla base, it’s more oriental, nocturnal, caramelized, resinous, or concentrated, deeper and heavier, and can seem more mature compared to Rose, which is more floral and light, pleasant for anyone, more commercial, more balanced, and delicate, without playing it safe with complex ingredients. Looking at the composition, I’m exceptionally in agreement with all of it. USAGE: A sure bet for sweet, tender little girls, lolitas, delicate, and romantic women; ideal as a personal perfume for daily wear under any circumstances. It’s not intrusive, it’s delicate, and very versatile. In my case, I can enjoy it for a short while in the right context, even though I love smelling it on the little girl inside me.

  • UNIVERSE BARBIE: It’s targeted at little girls and young women, but also at women who keep the spark of youthful femininity and naivety. It’s not mature, complex, or mystical; it has a good balance between intensity and sweetness without being cloying. The notes don’t overwhelm; it’s creamy, blends with the skin, and creates an angelic, innocent, feminine, and tender aura. Sometimes my brain groups similar scents that remind me of something known. In a review of Something About Sofia, I mentioned its resemblance to the Bathina cream from the same brand, but Rose the One and its body lotion nail that scent, just like Bourjois’ Java rice powders. It’s a rose-and-vanilla-cream inspired scent, super feminine and youthful, reminding us of those doll-themed product booms that stimulated our sense of smell: smelling perfumed papers like hounds, identifying them blindly, and becoming perfume addicts. That ‘childhood olfactory education’ could be the basis of the emotional link in today’s consumerism, not just in bottles but in cosmetics (like Yves Rocher, which tests fragrances in creams before launching). We are surrounded by reference aromas, and products like this, with their doll-like scent, touch deep memories. There are other similarities, but between Rose the One and Something About Sofia, I notice common notes. Although the latter goes beyond the creamy base, it’s more oriental, nocturnal, caramelized, resinous, concentrated, deep, and heavy, resulting in a more mature vibe. Rose is more floral, light, pleasant to everyone, commercial, balanced, and delicate, without risking with complex ingredients. Looking at the composition, I agree with everything: ‘all who are, are, and all who are not, are not.’ USAGE: A safe bet for sweet little girls, lolitas, delicate, and romantic women; ideal as a daily personal perfume. It’s not intrusive, delicate, and flexible. In my case, I enjoy it for a short while in the right context, although the girl inside me loves it.

  • Absolutely delicious, for real. Sweet but soft, not cloying at all; perfect for day and night. I love it.

  • I searched for weeks for The One and ended up with Rose the One. Its fresh floral notes won me over. It’s very feminine and soft; it doesn’t stand out for big events because it fades quickly, nor is it suitable for the office as it’s too tender and not professional enough. Its strength lies in that initial intense floral burst: when you apply it, you feel like you’re in a garden, but after half an hour the potency disappears even if you reapply. It’s ideal for daily wear, better with sun and breeze; I don’t recommend it after 5 p.m. It smells like clean, soapy body lotion and lingers on clothes the next day. It conveys tenderness, optimism, and joy, suiting a youthful profile. Among florals, it’s excellent and nothing artificial. There’s a very similar Zara Women Eau de Parfum, but this one smells more synthetic. It’s easy to confuse with shampoos or lotions, which makes it fade quickly, but you’re sure to get good compliments. The rose reminds me of Chloe’s Roses, which is better if you’re looking for just that note. The other notes are light and hard to pinpoint. Delicate, feminine, cheerful, and playful: a fragrance to enjoy with the day’s breeze.

The best rose I’ve ever smelled in my life. Delicious, subtle, elegant, spring-like, and clean; Rose the One is all of that and more. I love it; I think it’s perfect for a mature woman. Definitely my favorite from Dolce and Gabbana.

  • Super enveloping and warm scent, but in my humid and hot climate it felt overwhelming, so I kept it for winter. Edit: they’ve discontinued it and I’m dying to smell that olfactory embrace again, although maybe I won’t handle it well during pregnancy and I didn’t appreciate it as much as I should have.

  • What a beautiful perfume for rose lovers! The composition says blackcurrant, but to me it reminded me of the taste of red currant candies: a sweet and slightly tart aroma. It’s fresh, romantic, giving that ‘clean scent,’ soapy, feminine, and sweet, like tender caramelized roses (red currant, not coffee). EDIT: YES, it has great sillage and longevity! I applied it at 5 am and people were asking what I was wearing by 3 pm; they could even smell it at 10 hours. It lasted days on my clothes, and I was embarrassed to wash it. I finished it in less than a month and already bought it again, yay!

  • VainillaDulce

The One Rose is a very vanilla and fruity rose. It’s lovely, creamy with light fresh touches. In the opening, you notice the citrus, blackcurrant, and lychee, but what shines is the rose: fresh, wrapped in creamy vanilla, with a base of musk and sandalwood. It’s very versatile, works well at any time, it’s beautiful, subtle, elegant, and very feminine. The only downside is that it doesn’t last long on my skin.

  • Norome Leena

My opinion on this has changed a lot. When I bought it, I was looking for MY ROSE: huge, exuberant, fierce… Then I realized the perfume wasn’t to blame for not matching, and I learned to appreciate it for what it is: a fruity rose (you can taste the lychee), slightly vanilla-scented, with ambrette musk giving it a fine, warm, and carnal touch.

  • weraevaelena

It’s a lovely fragrance, youthful, fruity, and vanilla-scented, with the rose as the star. However, it didn’t please me as much as I expected because I felt a bit synthetic. The longevity and sillage are moderate; I noticed it for about 5 hours.

  • Meleagrina80

Wow, I loved it! I bought it almost blindly, knowing I liked it but having forgotten about it. It was one of my best purchases of 2018. I found it in a forgotten corner of an old perfumery, no tester, at a ridiculous price because it was discontinued. I don’t understand why they took it off the market; it’s a beauty: delicate, subtle, elegant. Opening the box, its metallic pink shade reminded me of the classic The One I adore. I just hope they bring it back because I’ll take such good care of it; it’s nowhere to be found in my country anymore. I found it while looking for my beloved Insolence EDT in its previous version and ended up with both. Imagine my joy. It carries a hint of the classic but has a fresh rose touch that gives it its own identity. I’ll treat it like gold.

  • Elegant, sophisticated, and a dream. The Rose version of The One is a success that far surpasses this one. You can still feel the roses, keeping that sweet and intense base.

  • Very elegant. I think they’ve discontinued it. It’s gorgeous. It smells like fresh, pretty roses, beautifully blended with the other notes.

  • I’m wearing it now and it’s a hit. It’s floral, sweet, and very delicate. It’s that kind of scent that makes you turn your head—not because of the trail, but because of what it awakens in the senses. Something totally different: fruity roses, nothing sour. I recommend it.

  • I’m dying for this one. If anyone knows where to get it, please let me know. Wearing it was like sinking into a bed of satin with rose petals: sophisticated, fresh, cheerful, and elegant. It had me head over heels.

  • Hi everyone. I have two bottles for sale: 50ml, 2010 batch, in Spain. Send me a message.

  • Kathro B.

I’ve never liked the scent of roses, and when my sister gifted me this perfume, reading ‘Rose The One’ almost made me throw it away. It was love at first sniff; I feel feminine, coquettish, and clean. I regret that D&G no longer produces it, but to my great luck, I found a perfumery in Mexico that handles testers.

  • I bought this fragrance a year after its launch. As a rose fan, it captivated me and it was an absolute pleasure to wear it for years until almost the last drops. And I say almost, because I keep the last two or three drops. Its aroma remains intact: velvety and fresh roses at the same time, delicate and sublime. Today I look at the little bottle with nostalgia. It was a pleasure to meet you, Rose The One. What a pity its discontinuation; those are the mysteries of the industry we’ll never understand.

  • Nefelibatadiana

The rose scent is strong, but not cloying; it’s warm and harmonious. I bought it blind and I have no regrets. Would I buy it again? No. Do I regret buying it? Not at all, quite the opposite—I recommend it to women of a certain age with sophisticated tastes.

  • Persefonex

I’m not usually a fan of roses in perfumes, but this one breaks the mold. It’s a velvety rose, not sweet, that caresses without being cloying. It’s super feminine. Imagine how great it was that my mom, my sister-in-law, and I all bought it for our house. Please, if anyone knows something similar, let me know, because unfortunately it’s discontinued.

  • It’s rich. I have it in the tester and it’s a beautiful rose; I always use it when I’m at home.

  • Soft roses, zero aggression, with that creamy and vanilla touch. This is a delight, such an enjoyable perfume. I loved it.

  • Bibilalique

I liked it in the store and used it for a while, but I couldn’t finish the bottle; it had too much rose. You definitely have to love that scent, because in my case, during that season, my tastes changed and I ended up gifting it away. What a shame, since it’s a well-made perfume with perfectly balanced notes and excellent performance.

  • solsegovia

I owned it! I don’t remember it clearly anymore, but I liked it. I’d recommend it for younger people.

  • Lady Wallis

I tried it at 20 and it absolutely blew my mind, even though today it feels a bit overwhelming on me. Fifteen years have passed and my tastes have changed, but back then its projection was insane. If you want to be noticed, this is the one for you.
