Egoiste Platinum by Chanel

Who says Blue Intense by L’Bel smells like that? I guess their parents are cousins to understand such a weird opinion… It’s a herbal, timeless, and distinguished fragrance, perfect for work or a social gathering. It’s not one of my favorites, but I don’t dislike wearing it; at least, you won’t go unnoticed.

I liked the regular Egoiste less, but this one is elegant and distinguished. This smells generic, which is unacceptable for a brand that usually leads in pricing. Maybe because it’s a mass copy, I associate it with supermarket knock-offs, and I’m surprised by its success. If you smell it at Mercadona with the Deliplus label, you’ll barely notice it.

EGOISTE PLATINUM: there are beautiful things, and then there is this perfume bomb. It’s hard for me to be objective because it’s so evocative and I enjoy it from start to finish. I see it as elegant, ethereal, and with the finesse that only Chanel could give before. I bought a vintage bottle from 2006, and comparing it to the current one, the essence stays intact, though the old one feels denser and richer. If you’re looking for something fresh and spicy, go for it. Not much more to add to this eternal Chanel jewel.

The ultimate green. It comes out very clean and fresh, with lavender and citrus, giving way to a soft floral part. The drydown is a bit drier but keeps that soapy touch of moss. I notice it’s very fougère. It’s super fresh and appetizing in temperate or hot climates. Lately, I notice these classic green and fougère scents are preferred over those sweet trash of today. They have personality, and current perfumes, which are clones of clones and smell almost the same, can’t reach them. It’s a classic, one of Chanel’s best perfumes. Just wearing it makes you look elegant, even if you haven’t dressed up, but if you are already dressed, you’ll look like a true gentleman.

Cleanliness and elegance in a bottle. Versatile for everyday use. The performance seems sufficient, and although the trail isn’t huge, it’s typical of a perfume that doesn’t seek to be exaggerated but presents itself as it is: something fresh, soapy, and classy.

A classic fragrance, mature, fresh, clean, and as elegant as it gets. One of the ones I enjoy using the most, day or night, straight out of the shower, truly pleasant. If you like fragrances from the eighties and nineties, buy it with confidence.

One of the best perfumes I know. Although its longevity is low to moderate, the scent is totally worth it. For those who think Egoïste Platinum is similar to Croxato Man, I’m sure COVID damaged their sense of smell; that Croxato thing doesn’t even come close to Egoïste Platinum, and of course, it doesn’t have an olfactory profile similar enough to say they resemble each other.

Rich. Very fresh and even slightly citrusy to me, but at the same time elegant. I felt the longevity was great; it lasted me a long time. Another masterpiece from Chanel.

It’s a fragrance that has been with me for many years; it never goes out of style. It’s very versatile, suitable for both day and night, indoor or outdoor spaces, and you can wear it in almost any season. Personally, I think it’s best used in spring or autumn. I don’t have a great nose, but the jasmine notes hit me hard. Overall, it smells very floral but fresh. To me, it seems like a very good balance between floral tones and a fresh touch without reaching citrus. You don’t stand out too much with this because the trail isn’t huge and it doesn’t last long on my skin type, but people who have been able to smell it have definitely given me compliments.

It’s a fragrance that has all the class and freshness that a Chanel perfume of that caliber deserves, but I just can’t stand it. It causes me nausea; it’s very cloying, and the rosemary with lavender is way too much for me. I stick with its original version, Egoïste.

The ultimate fresh gentleman, a timeless classic that never goes out of style. I dare say it’s one of Chanel’s best; I’ve had it for 10 years, and at 35, I still get compliments. To be honest, it’s for personal enjoyment. A great scent for all ages, just for connoisseurs.

These days, many brands, even niche ones, try to modernize the fougère, that quintessential masculine aroma—green, soapy, and lavender-forward. Chanel played this game over 30 years ago, leaving behind a scent that remains completely current. It keeps that barbershop vibe but elevates it to something more contemporary, refined, and classy. It still boasts outstanding longevity, lasting around 12 hours. Those who claim Chanel lacks quality either have a biased opinion or only know Allure Sport and Bleu.

I take off my hat to Bofifa’s review. This fragrance reminds me of posters in my room, Walkman cassettes, summer family trips, and the 90s. The blend is spectacular, with a taste and class beyond the norm. The mossy, wet opening is incredible; the subdued lavender doesn’t bother me, and those sharp metallic notes… it smells amazing. The green notes punctuate everything with a precise rhythm accompanying the potent geranium. It’s perfectly balanced. This fresh bitterness has overwhelming versatility: it’s not citrusy, not sweet, not aquatic. On my skin, with a generous spray, it’s a beast: considerable projection for the first couple of hours and solid presence for over six hours without needing to reapply. It’s not my usual style, but I perceive it as spectacular, so magnetic that I’m considering it without taboos. It’s a classic; it smells like immortality. Maybe those sharp, vampiric edges will lose touch with reality someday, but for now, it’s got decades of enjoyment left. Long live it.

A good perfume with a slightly green opening. The dry-down is similar to CK Eternity, but not identical. It won’t fail in summer; it’s a great scent. I recommend it, even though it’s hard to find.

This smells like a businessman; I only wear it for special occasions or when I need to dress up. I’m not sure if the scent has changed due to reformulations, but the longevity isn’t bad at all, lasting 6-7 hours with moderate projection. This is quality because Chanel never fails. Now the downside is the price; I bought the 50ml bottle for almost €70. I understand it’s an expensive brand, but one must consider it has been on the market for over 30 years. At that price, I’d buy a new release from this year that lasts longer and projects more, but that’s what marketing does. When I run out of this small bottle, I’ll definitely go for the 100ml version.
