  Very Christmas-y; reminds me of a fireplace, gingerbread cookies, and apple-cinnamon tea. Smoky, ginger-spiced, and cinnamon-forward. It smells rich, though it has some artificial touches that aren’t annoying. The downside is that later it sits close to the skin and fades away. Otherwise, it’s delicious for temperate or cold climates, perfect for afternoons, dinners, or relaxing at home. Why should it be like Tom Ford’s Oud when this has different nuances? In the East, I smelled one that was green and dry; this is cinnamon-y and dense. Scent: 8, Projection: 8, Longevity: 7, Quality: 7.

  Walking through Sears, I noticed the classic Polo wasn’t available, only a sleek dark green bottle labeled ‘Oud’. My take: it has nothing to do with the 1978 classic, but it matches the concept of modernizing the DNA, similar to Cologne Intense. While Intense was fresh for spring, Oud goes dark and warm. It doesn’t smell like herbs, pine, or tobacco like the classic chypre style from the 70s. The opening is fresh and spicy, drying quickly to cinnamon, oud, incense, and amber. I don’t detect the bergamot; perhaps there’s well-worked rose imitating oriental attars. The oud isn’t animalic or medicinal like others. It feels like a more interesting and oriental version, similar to Bentley For Men (but western), Givenchy Gentleman EDP, Benetton Colors Man Black (dirtier and more animalic), or Bvlgari Man In Black. Maybe they’ll retire the classic because of this; the fact that it wasn’t there means something. Although the classic is beautiful, reformulations have killed it, and it no longer sells to young people. Cheap alternatives: Essencial Oud by Natura (they are aroma-chemical, not natural) or Benetton. I’m not sure if saving 3,000 pesos on Polo Oud is worth it compared to buying Benetton (more animalic), Natura, or Avon’s Absolute Sensus if you’re saving a lot. Blessings.

  Polo Oud is woody, spicy, and slightly smoky. The opening is citrusy but mostly spicy, with notes of pepper and cardamom. The citrus fades, leaving a spicy, floral aroma from the rose, but primarily woody with oud and balsamic incense that gives it that smoky vibe. The oud and spices vaguely remind me of Versace Oud Noir and Tom Ford Oud Wood. Ideal for special events or work, it’s non-invasive and elegant. It lasted me over 8 hours; the opening is strong, but later it clings to the skin. Anyone who likes Tom Ford Oud Wood will love this.

  I fell in love after just one spray. It’s spectacular; I love wearing it all day. People have already complimented me at a restaurant; one customer said it smells delicious. What a great purchase—I’m absolutely blown away.

  If I mix it with 10 other $30 Arab perfumes, Polo is completely undetectable. Mediocre quality and poor construction for today’s market. Next.
