Pearl by Mancera

I’ve been longing for this perfume for years; it’s hard to find here, but I finally got it and confirmed it doesn’t disappoint. It’s spectacular, super feminine, sweet with a rose scent, very fruity, and has that typical Mancera woody base. It reminds me of a rare, delicious fruit called pomarrosa, with an intense pink aroma. I wear it all day, cold or hot; it’s elegant, commanding, and very cozy—a true gem. I already own Roses Greedy and Roses Vainille, and buying this isn’t redundant; they only share the rose, but their openings and bases are distinct. Out of the three, I definitely keep this gem.

I bought a decant and it smells like freshly cut rose: the scent of the flower mixed with the astringent touch of stems and leaves. It’s oily and clings well to the skin, lasting 10 hours with moderate to intense projection for the first 3 hours (depending on the amount), then softening. If you’re looking for a green rose, this is your fragrance. If you don’t like the smell of grass, stems, and leaves, don’t take a chance, because those notes are definitely perceptible. It’s not an innocent or elegant rose, but it has enough personality to be distinct.

I hate green notes, and this perfume has them. The listed ingredients are wrong: it doesn’t have fig fruit, but rather fig branches, stems, and leaves. It’s a green and bitter fig aroma that is aggressive and unbearable; that bitter green scent is terrifying to me. As it dries down, it leaves a very similar musky rose scent to ‘So Blue,’ which I like, but ‘Pearl’ is definitely not pleasant for me in any way.

I’m daring to review this perfume because it was a great acquisition. I bought it blind and am thrilled with that mix of fruity, citrus, and floral notes. Not so much for that, but because it charmingly distracts me as it gradually transforms into my clothes and skin. It has splendid potency, doesn’t disappoint, is elegant, smells fine, and best of all, it’s an uncommon scent. There’s nothing similar I’ve ever smelled. Its name fits perfectly; it’s a whole precious pearl. I love it.

I tried it in a decant and felt brave enough to buy the big bottle. It’s a scent different from what I had in my collection, so I took the plunge. It was my first step with Mancera. The liquid is transparent/yellow and feels oily on the skin. The opening is fresh, a bit green, like fresh green leaves (they say it’s fig, but I don’t recognize it). After 5 minutes, the rose aroma appears, very delicate, young, and fresh, somewhat clean, with a slight sweetness that I’d call neutral. I’m still not convinced about its longevity: some days I felt it close to the skin within hours, others until the next day. I hope to think that atomizing from a decant didn’t show it well. The trail is moderate; I thought being Mancera it would be monstrous, but it doesn’t bother me; I think a restrained trail fits its softness and romance. It reminds me of Montale’s Intense Café, though this is a bit less sweet. Both houses share that rose aroma that I love. I recommend trying before buying. Update one week later: it soaked into all my clothes, even after washing. Today I applied Olympea Legend, and it shows up even above it with certain movements. I’m impressed with its longevity.

I bought it blind and didn’t make a mistake; it’s a gem made into perfume. It lasts about 12 hours on me with a considerable trail, without being a sweet bomb. Sometimes it reminds me of Roses Greedy but with a more delicate, creamy rose and a precise sweetness; other times it recalls Pink Prestige due to its green opening. It’s not linear; it comes and goes: upon application, it feels greener, and as it dries, the fruit and a delicious creaminess emerge. It’s not a perfumery bomb, but it’s a beauty. I think it could be a blind buy; I don’t think there’s anyone who would dislike this delicate and feminine aroma. It has a powdery touch, but minimal in my case.

Mancera Pearl. The opening is a powerful explosion of fresh green roses that lasts about ten minutes. Then the fruit comes out: green apple, peach, and fig. The rose is always present from the beginning to the end; these fruit notes soften that strong opening and seem to refine the aroma more and more. Then comes a very timid violet, and amber and musk make the dry down creamy and clean. The result is a very fine green rose and fig perfume. If you like rose and fig with a fresh, clean, and creamy scent, this is your perfume. If you’re looking for something sweet, forget it; this is totally green. Ideal for spring-summer with tremendous longevity and a trail of at least two meters. It generates many compliments for that clean and elegant point. I recommend it; it breaks away quite a bit from the perfumery fashion of recent years.

Mancera Pearl: I like all its notes. The opening of fig and bergamot made me think it was masculine and disappointing, but after 10 minutes the fruits (green apple, peach) take it in a feminine direction. The roses and violets give it a delicate touch, while ambergris and musk balance the composition. To me, it’s well-rounded, balanced, and feminine. It’s not a risky bet or a bomb, but it has something that captivates me. The packaging is lovely, complete with Mancera’s classic pouch. The bottle is heavy and sturdy. The screw cap can leak if not closed properly; if you press too hard when closing, the atomizer comes out upon opening. It feels oily, lasts over 10 hours with moderate sillage, and doesn’t bother anyone at the office.
