I think this version of their 90s rebranding is wonderful—a genuine reformulation that retains its unique, distant aura. These days you can find it, but it’s very different; the quality of the dress isn’t the same anymore. It went from pure silk to cotton: whispers of couture, not commercial.
I have a vintage miniature labeled ‘parfum.’ I’m afraid the note breakdown is wrong, and my sample is identical to the 1947 EDT. I clearly detect the aldehydic opening and oakmoss as the star note.
Smells of earth and galbanum, intense and serious with a full body and balsamic touch. I was expecting luminous florals, but it’s darker and mossy; very earthy. I’d pair it with Eau du Soir by Sisley or Eden by Cacharel for the atmosphere it creates: elegant, stately, warm, and rooted in the earth.
