It’s heaven in a bottle. It’s hard to describe this, it’s so beautiful and unique, it stands out a mile away. MDC 2005 is undoubtedly a gourmand fragrance. It’s fresh, bright, and deliciously fruity, but with a perfect floral arrangement (rose, jasmine, violet). The caramel popcorn and patchouli add a very interesting depth, the sweetness, this is so beautiful to wear. Incredibly uplifting. One of my all-time favorites, for sure!

That wonderful perfume, in my life it came and went occasionally. In 2005-06, at 29 years old, I smelled it at the department store, I liked it, bought it, and a week later, I gave it to my niece… I don’t know why, so I don’t even remember what my stupid argument was to get rid of it. As the years passed, I tried one of those that came out after this, without realizing that this one had been discontinued… so I took it upon myself to look for it and nothing, simply it was the reformulated version without that wonderful popcorn that makes it unique. Just a few days ago I asked my niece if she had liked that perfume, if she used it or gave it away… and she told me: no, aunt, if I liked it, I have it here and send me a photo, the perfume intact just as I gave it to her… and I tell her my very same story that I commented earlier, and she tells me: you have the Curious by B.S., I’ll swap it for you… ohhhh, I reached happiness, I have it again so it doesn’t leave me anymore… it’s exactly as its formulation describes, but I won’t rest until I get another bottle. It should be mentioned that despite the years, the aroma is preserved perfectly… although I still don’t understand what made me give it away… haha, crazy things that happen, to not give second chances.

  • I’ll start by saying that this perfume interested me from the beginning when I found out they had discontinued it. If Dior keeps doing this with good perfumes, it’s going to cost them dearly. I don’t understand why the hell they stop manufacturing good perfumes like that and bring to the market one bland liquid after another. Today, a miracle happened to me: I went to the perfumery and approached the newly arrived sales. I couldn’t believe it when I saw MDC there. I literally ran towards it and asked my friend, the sales assistant, to apply a little bit to me. At first, the pineapple and strawberry stand out a lot. But after a while, the caramel and popcorn appear, giving it a playful, carefree, chic aroma. I still have it and I can’t stop smelling it. It’s so delicious that I want to eat my skin right in the area where she put it. It’s a sweet nectar, but not a common sweet, it’s a cheerful and jovial explosion of aromas. The sales assistant told me that some women considered it too strong. I have the gift of making very strong perfumes a bit more subtle on my skin, so I don’t perceive it as overwhelming at all. I repeat: It’s delicious. Of course, it’s not on the level of J’Adore or Miss Dior, because Miss Dior Cherie can’t be compared to them; it’s a head ahead of them. The fact that it’s no longer manufactured leaves a big void. I will always fondly remember this perfume, the day when it finally can’t be found anywhere. I love its trail and longevity, it’s excellent in that sense. It’s totally worth it. Seriously, I’m not joking. I must say that this is one of the perfumes I’ve liked the most. Popcorn, caramel… it has to be in my collection one day.

  • I have Miss Dior EDP, the current version, which is beautiful, caramel and roses, highlighting the roses more; but by a twist of fate I tried a tester at Liverpool and I can tell you that the difference is very noticeable. While Miss Dior EDP is very sophisticated and feminine, feeling more elegant and sober. On the other hand, Miss Dior Cherie feels softer, with less patchouli, very cheerful, more lively, sweeter (but not cloyingly sweet); Modadicta describes it perfectly. Anyway, they are two very different fragrances… and I want both. They are similar in that both are excellent in projection and longevity.

  • It’s discontinued. For some reason, the house Dior decided to reformulate it and now it’s called Miss Dior, without the Cherie. That’s why it’s quite difficult to find; in my case, I’ve bought it online, but the price is high, and there will come a time when it can’t be bought… What a shame. Personally, I like it more than Miss Dior; I see it as more feminine, less serious, although without losing elegance. The caramel and strawberry notes make it much sweeter than the current one, which is more oriental and in which the chypre is felt more. I think Miss Dior Cherie is more suitable for young women than Miss Dior, however both are exceptional creations that make you feel special, you are wrapped in Dior and that is noticeable… Totally recommended for those who want a CHIC perfume that won’t go out of style.

  • I’m dying to try it. Especially because of the reviews. But the variations of this perfume confuse me. Why does there exist a 2005 version and a 2007 version with different notes under the same name? The truth is that this topic of variations is a bit tiring. Then you have the lines that already have sub-lines… Anyway. It’s discontinued, just like Midnight Poison, another beauty that our dear house Dior took away from our hands for some administrative reason. What a pity.

  • I tried it very recently, so I don’t know what the old version was like. It’s floral to the supreme degree, natural flowers, not synthetic; it was spring and a florist shop, to me who loves visiting them because I adore flowers at home and even more when they are fragrant… The only bad thing is the patchouli in this perfume. I only like it when it’s very subtle; but if it’s not, I get dizzy and get a headache. Very flattering opinion for men… Unfortunately, I won’t risk walking half-faint to attract men… After all, a woman dresses and perfumes herself, and very rarely for friends!

  • I fell in love with it, but they discontinued it or gave it another name, and I’ve never been able to get it again… Truly exquisite and super sensual.

  • Miss Dior Cherie 2005 has made me talk about its scent again, because now that I own it, I see it with new eyes. To me, it smells like a super-feminine, coquettish, cheerful, and fun girl on a sunny day at an amusement park or fair, right next to someone she likes. It’s the perfect day for eating candy, popcorn, having a strawberry malts, and a pineapple refreshment, all amidst laughter and flirting. It ends with a bouquet of roses, a gift from the guy who accompanied her. MDC is a romantic, very attractive, and addictive scent for men (and I say this after researching, haha). It’s a smell that lingers in the memory and doesn’t go unnoticed. It has salty, sweet, fruity, and floral notes that form a unique and irreplaceable fragrance. I think it’s one of my favorite Dior scents. I met it a year ago and, as I said in my first review, I was fascinated. Since then, I haven’t stopped looking for it. Unfortunately, the MDC 2005 I have now has changed. Although it still smells good, I’m not satisfied because it doesn’t smell the same as the first time, at the beginning of last year. Now I smell it as more sour and acidic, with pineapple predominating. No longer so much the strawberries and popcorn, which together used to taste delicious to me. I’m still looking; I don’t think just finding a bottle is enough. I ask you, if you find any, don’t let it go. If you don’t like it totally but find it, don’t hesitate to contact me. I’d be happy to give another bottle a good home.

Trends change, and if Dior adapted to the market, there’s no reason to be ashamed. Miss Dior Cherie is an excellent example of its innovative spirit. For me, it’s a ‘Fruity Floral Gourmand’. It starts fruity and cloying, but the pineapple balances it. The heart is a floral gourmand, dominated by crunchy popcorn and caramel, with subtle flowers. The base acts as a catalyst, making it elegant. Although it has nothing to do with the 1947 original, it’s superior to the previous renewal. I see it as a romantic, coquettish fragrance that isn’t vulgar—perfect for high-society young relationships. It’s a shame production has stopped. The longevity was splendid and the sillage moderate. We’ll just have to make do with the new Miss Dior.

  • Natalylopez

I noticed a strong mix of patchouli, strawberry, and popcorn. I liked it a lot, even though it was a powerful and very long-lasting scent.

  • What delicacy! It radiates youth, joy, and sensuality. I love it. While Miss Dior is good and carefree, Cherie offers more sweetness and femininity. I’m sorry the new version doesn’t appeal to me; it lacks that salty touch. I smell lots of strawberry, pineapple, and patchouli, and as time passes, that salty-floral note of jasmine and popcorn emerges. I barely notice the caramel. I’m obsessed with that sweet-salty explosion. Totally recommended for those who like sweet scents with a youthful twist.

  • VainillaDulce

Why was this perfume discontinued? Miss Dior Cherie was a delight and a hit. It’s sparkling, cheerful, coquettish, and full of life. It smells of freshly picked fruits, buttery caramel, popcorn, patchouli, and roses. A rare but beautiful combination with a salty touch. Lasts about 6 hours. You’re missed; you were a 10 that deserved to be a classic.

  • Gaby Pedroza

At first, I smell strawberries and champagne, then ripe, fermented pineapple, followed by violets and roses. It’s a cheerful feast—sweet and slightly boozy. I don’t smell popcorn, but I do get that liquor that reminds me of Victoria’s Secret lotion. It’s not subtle; it’s for those who don’t want to go unnoticed: lively, sweet, and with carefree elegance. Lasts 6 hours on skin and up to 10 on clothes.

  • Alejandra Garcia

Forever in love with the 2005 version. I save the last few milliliters as if they were liquid gold.

  • LunaVioletteLoveheart

I’ve never felt so much sweetness and elegance combined. It reminds me of Jane Bennet from Pride and Prejudice: sweet, beautiful, and with a good heart. It’s not cloying; it feels like a warm welcome with a smile, asking permission to blend with your scent. The notes, like caramel and popcorn, have perfect harmony. It’s discreet, long-lasting, and leaves a trail that invites a hug. One of my favorites.

  • marietitaIse

I fell in love with this version, but my mom didn’t want to buy it because it was so expensive. I bought it in 2011, but it was already a different formula. When they reformulated and Miss Dior came back in 2012, I bought that too, but I don’t love it as much. I’m still loyal to patchouli.

  • rafajurado

Fresh, sweet, with a clean dry-down. Perfect for any occasion, ideal for a young and elegant girl. The longevity is good.

  • I bought the 50ml version and fell in love with it all over again. It’s an elegant gourmand—sweet but subtle—very different from the perfumes of the 90s that smelled like ‘woman’ instead of ‘girl’. I appreciate it much more now than I did back in its day.

  • I had the old version; I haven’t smelled the new one. The old Chérie was elegant, strong, and a lovely fragrance for when you want to feel sweet and romantic.

  • This is the version I love most; luckily, I got it before they discontinued it. It’s strong, sweet, and exquisite, evoking joy. It’s a coquettish perfume with an immediate fruity opening: you can detect the cherry, strawberry, pineapple, and tangerine. In the heart, you notice the popcorn, caramel, flowers, and jasmine, finishing with the amber and patchouli that I absolutely adore. It’s sweet, but an elegant sweet.

  • It’s a precious and delicate perfume; I love it. The strawberry and pineapple are noticeable immediately, and the strawberry lingers until the end. The jasmine shows up in the dry down but isn’t excessive, leaving a caramelized scent with a subtle jasmine that appears every now and then. I like it a lot; highly recommended for spring and summer.

  • I just smelled a dupe… what memories and what melancholy thinking about how you can’t find this beautiful perfume anymore.

  • I bought it blind based on the notes. I expected at least a fruity cake or caramel scent; nothing could be further from the truth. It smells like violet rose and patchouli; it reminds me of the perfume my aunt used to wear when I was a kid. I didn’t like it at all; surely, on a woman’s skin, it would be amazing.

  • Hi! I’m new to Fragrantica, and this is my first review. OMG, I’m so excited to review my beloved Miss Dior Chérie. What a fine and delicious perfume. I read somewhere that it smells like ‘Sexy Princess,’ and I agree! I miss it so much. It was my first great perfume love, the first one that made me feel elegant and seductive without losing my sparkly, fresh side. In college, everyone complimented my perfume and copied my chic style. The opening is super fresh, the heart turns sweet with the popcorn and caramel notes, and the dry down is the finest part with that well-balanced patchouli, musk, and amber. Without a doubt, it’s the best chypre-fruity for me. What a shame it’s discontinued; it’s been imitated a thousand times, but none matched it. Highly recommended for all ages. Performance, sillage, and projection are 10/10. I love you forever, MDC.

  • A very special person gifted it to me; she had it in her collection and gave it to me because she knows I love it. It’s so feminine. At first, it smells a bit medicinal to me, like cherry, but it evolves into a beautiful, musky, powdery scent. It lasts a long time, but on my skin it doesn’t project much. I absolutely love it.

  • I’m a huge Dior fan; I think they’re excellent and elegant. I’m obsessed with the entire Miss Dior collection. I met this line thanks to my mom, a lady with refined taste. She took me perfume shopping, and that’s when I first smelled this captivating potion: fresh, with a fruity touch and that original popcorn note over a patchouli base that gave it elegance. It was my sister’s and my signature scent until my niece fell in love with it too. What a shame they discontinued it; now I’m content with the Eau de Toilette that keeps the DNA of the original. A 10/10 for the scent and another 10 for the nostalgia.

  • Guadaperfumada

I love it. It’s a little berry with flowers, very fresh and youthful. It reminds me of my childhood; it’s like a body splash from 47 Street. It just makes me happy to smell it!

  • Addyi Spade

Bought Jean Forever EDT online for $23 and I have zero regrets. Smells super good—natural fruity and nothing synthetic. I think Dior was inspired by Jean Patou to create Miss Dior Chérie; they added patchouli and it ended up more defined. I have an old batch of Forever Patou; I don’t know if it was a beast when it first launched, but it’s very feminine, natural, and perfect for summer with a vintage vibe.

  • abriluchiperfumistica

I bought it because the classic Miss Dior was out of stock; I know the classic well, and it’s very rich and youthful. This isn’t the case; it’s rich but quite ladylike. It doesn’t smell overly vintage to the point of being exaggerated, but it is quite floral on the lady side. You can definitely smell the violets and jasmine, mostly. It’s pleasant, long-lasting, and projects well, but I wouldn’t buy it again for the reason I mentioned; I was looking for something more youthful.

  • A sweet perfume; its opening is cloying but transforms into a powdery aroma as hours pass, following the Miss Dior DNA. I like it, but not as much as the original Miss Dior.

  • I wouldn’t want to be disruptive, but despite there being relatively well-executed dupes, they have little to do with the original, which appeared in 2005 and began disappearing from circulation between 2009 and 2011 (remnants), taking its place the next version, which is less complex than this. It’s one of my favorite perfumes; it was my signature, or rather the only one, between ages 18 and 22-23. Two decades ago, it wasn’t uncommon to see young women wearing adult scents. It wasn’t bad or questionable. It’s not that it’s not youthful; it’s elegant. It’s a dressed-up chypre. I have a similar one from Yves Rocher and a dupe; I like them, but they aren’t exact, so I wouldn’t compare what Miss Dior Cherie was with its popcorn, caramel, flowers, and fruits to what similar things are like today. The performance this gem had is something neither its dupes nor its lookalikes possess, not even close.

  • Cecilia_nectarina

I’ve had this discontinued perfume for 8 months. Before meeting it, I only smelled the Miss Dior 2017, the contemporary 2021, the flanker Absolutely Blooming, and Blooming Bouquet 2022; I haven’t smelled that many from the line, but they always lead me to something sweet, sometimes fresh, sometimes heavily patchouli and loaded. I’m writing this review to verify if I have an authentic Miss Dior Cherie 2005, since I never knew it and fakes are rampant. The bottle says tester and has notes engraved in French and English: green mandarin, caramel popcorn, wild strawberry sorbet, fresh patchouli, and crystal musks. To me, upon spraying, it smells refreshing and vintage, like fresh green patchouli, perhaps accompanied by the mandarin (a bit more citrusy than sweet) and a floral hint. And something salty that reveals the fruits within 20 seconds! Yes, it smells like a strawberry sorbet or a fizzy strawberry champagne, very tasty and fresh, but it’s a strawberry sharpened by its intensity. From the start to the first 3-4 hours, I notice the red fruits; if I pay attention, I also detect the pineapple nuance. After the first few hours, it evolves into something warm that blends with the red fruits to a lesser extent; I sense a warm phase I attribute to the popcorn, but rather than caramelized, they’re buttery with a touch of caramel, my goodness, it seems delicious, and that’s why it’s so well-reviewed. I’d never smelled anything like it, and that’s where I see why it’s totally gourmand and mythical. It lasts about 8 hours and doesn’t seem to have a heavy trail or project much; throughout its evolution, it stays close to the skin but is always there, except perhaps the first 3 hours with a moderate to low trail. I could describe it to someone smelling it today as a gourmand perfume with first-quality ingredients and vintage nuances peeking out, especially in the opening: a patchouli-citrus-floral opening followed by the fruits. The dry down is the work of art here: buttery and caramelized popcorn that becomes one with your skin.

  • amolosperfumes05

This was a gem. My best friend gifted it to me for my birthday, and then it vanished (some mouse must have taken it). Less than a week later, I was already buying another. Now that it’s discontinued, the price is sky-high. I love it, I loved it, but not enough to pay that, especially with my wishlist already exceeding my budget. Maybe one day, not too far off, I’ll finally get it. The blend of citrus with the salty popcorn and the sweetness of pineapple makes it eccentric and unique. For years, it was my signature scent, and I was showered with compliments. Dior achieved a perfect balance between these notes. Despite the years, I don’t consider it timeless; in my opinion, it’s semi-gourmand without being overwhelming. It feels like it was playing with trendy notes ahead of its time. Dior knew exactly what they were doing.

  • These were my favorite perfumes! I think it was one of the best in the entire Miss Dior line. Why did they discontinue it?

  • Exquisite. I couldn’t get enough of it. It’s incredibly delicate yet lasts forever, like a halo of sophistication, beauty, and elegance. No comparison to the current Miss Diors; those are rich but far simpler.
