It’s quite a rare perfume. A rose essence aroma harmonized with a somewhat medicinal patchouli that gives it a certain acidity, all with a spicy nuance that doesn’t resemble anything commercial. In my opinion, it’s a light chypre, daytime, with rigid tints and nothing sensual. I see it more for personal enjoyment, masculine, young, and rare. Yes, when I wore it, people didn’t say ‘you smell good,’ they said ‘you smell weird.’ It’s a very special scent. Performance is good, but better not to buy blindly. Try a sample or test it in the store for a few days, because you might hate it at first and fall in love later, or like it and then get repelled, due to that uncommon patchouli and spice mix.

Smells weird; it’s a rose and medicinal patchouli blend that gives it an acidic, spicy edge unlike anything commercial. It’s a light chypre, daytime, rigid, and not sensual at all—more for personal use by a young, peculiar man. When I wore it, people didn’t say ‘you smell good,’ they said ‘you smell weird.’ It’s a very special scent; performance is decent, but don’t buy blindly. Try samples or test it in stores for a few days because you might hate it at first and fall in love later, or vice versa, thanks to that uncommon patchouli and spice combo.

I’m surprised it’s rarely compared to Narciso For Her by Fahrenheit. I don’t know if I’m just hyper-reactive to certain perfumer notes, but they smell incredibly similar to me. Fahrenheit overuses some accords, like the orange blossom in Fleur du Male, Elie Saab, Apom, Vitae Forte, Custo Barcelona, etc. That’s why I don’t see myself wearing this; even though I use some feminine scents, Narciso and its clones are everywhere here, and smelling like everyone else is something I dislike.

A pause to dedicate a few lines to Lumiere Noire Pour Homme by Francis Kurkdjian. A fragrance with few notes: patchouli, rose, caraway, and cinnamon. Elegant at the start, dominated by rose, drying down to a earthy patchouli that isn’t intrusive, with soft caraway (vanilla-like) notes and a sweet, intense cinnamon dry-down. Warm in development, elegant and simple in conception. I see it as very unisex, not just for men as described. Clean in nature with the MFK signature, ideal for a quiet afternoon or an intimate night. Despite its lightness, it performs well on skin with very acceptable longevity and sillage. Cheers, Perfumado’s Community.

Neither like nor dislike it. Starts with a very soft, feminine rose that darkens slightly over time due to the patchouli and caraway, with a hint of cinnamon also noticeable. It hasn’t performed well for me; it has the DNA of most of Kurkdjian’s fragrances. For my taste, it’s too feminine; I’ve preferred the aquas more. Ideal for spring and autumn, day and night. Moderate longevity and sillage.

Today I felt the urge to dust off my Lumiere Noire, which I’d forgotten about, and I loved it. At first, the rose is very noticeable, but as it dries on my skin, cinnamon and patchouli take over, blending with the flower in a sweetness that’s amazing. The dry-down is darker and patchouli-heavy, but not earthy. Some say it smells like grandma, and if it does, what wonderful grandmas! I see it as perfect for everything, day or night, very versatile. Even though it’s pricey, I save it for special occasions or days like today when I just feel like splurging. Projection and longevity are excellent.

Today I felt the urge to dust off a bit of Lumiere Noire, which I’d forgotten about. It smells great. At first, the rose is very noticeable, but as it dries on my skin, cinnamon and patchouli take over, blending with the flower. It leaves a sweet scent that I love. The dry-down is darker and patchouli-heavy, but not too earthy. Some say it smells like grandma, and if it does, then grandmas smell divinely. I see it as versatile, for day or night, though given its price, I save it for special occasions or days like today when I just feel like splurging. Top-notch projection and longevity.

Lumiere Noire is one of my favorites by Francis Kurkdjian; it manages to combine the complexity and seriousness of his night scents with the vitality of the day ones. It has many pros thanks to its multiple facets: fresh, elegant, sensual, and addictive. It’s rare for someone not to find something they like. The opening is fresh with roses, green touches, and a bit of citrus, plus a synthetic aquatic note that refreshes. Then the patchouli mixed with cinnamon appears, giving it an interesting twist. Overall, it reminds me of the whole MFK line, of good quality and with a good touch, but this one has something that’s made me use it several times lately. I recommend it from the house. Regarding longevity, despite seeming light, it lasts a long time, surpassing 8 hours with good sillage.
