Okay, it’s a fragrance I like and others do too. So what’s the problem? It smells a lot like the original Terre D’Hermès from 2006. Is that bad? Not really, but it points to two flaws: it doesn’t offer anything new or innovative, unlike its sister, the EDP Intense, and it’s not cheap, so it doesn’t work as an affordable alternative to Hermès. If my memory serves me right, the 60 ml costs around €58 and the 100 ml hovers between €85-90, so it’s not a budget fragrance. Brioni is luxury, and their perfumes aren’t cheap. Plus, the nose behind it is Michel Almairac, a veteran, so I feel somewhat disappointed because it’s nothing novel. In short, it’s a good perfume that smells great and lasts about 6 hours, projecting well for the first two hours, so it’s not bad in that regard. The issue is that excessive similarity to the Hermès classic, which makes it feel unoriginal. Maybe, and this is a mea culpa, I had high expectations, especially after buying the EDP Intense, which is truly a marvel in terms of novelty and deserves a big round of applause. For use, like the Hermès, it works all year round with formal or casual wear, but not informal. Brioni perfumes always exude class and elegance. As for age, anyone can wear it; while I see the Intense as more for people “mature” 30 and up, this Eclat can be worn by a young person out with friends one summer afternoon or an older person running errands or taking an evening stroll with their partner. It’s a good proposal from Brioni, but in my opinion, it lacks novelty.
Smells very clean. It’s a summer scent that many will love, but it’s not that typical blue fragrance. Starts with juicy grapefruit, and the ambroxan and musk base give it a more elegant touch.
