Descripción
L'Instant de Guerlain pour Homme EDP by Guerlain is a woody fragrance for men. This composition was launched in 2015 and was created by nose Beatrice Piquet. The top notes unfold star anise, bergamot, elemi, lemon, and pepper; the heart reveals cocoa pod, sandalwood, smoke, tea, and jasmine; while the base settles on patchouli.

Hahaha… That’s all I have to say about this ridiculous reformulation. Longevity 5/10, sillage 5/10, scent 5/10. As you can see, everything is cut in half. It’s a shame and a disgrace on Guerlain’s part; what’s wrong with big brands? Why lower quality while keeping prices up? I know with short-lasting perfumes you have to reapply and spend more, but damn… it’s a rip-off, another disappointment. This L’Instant should be called Eau de Cologne; it doesn’t even deserve Eau de Toilette. I won’t talk about the ‘qualities’; the scent resembles the old version (the black edges one), which was 100% worth it, highlighting cocoa and anise in a beautiful, true Guerlain-style combination. Forget about the sillage (huge) and longevity (over 10 hours). I’m sorry, but what these ‘big’ brands are doing today is a disgrace.
I’m not familiar with the old version of L’Instant, but the new one seems very good aromatically with more than acceptable performance on my skin compared to others. It’s a fragrance for a special type of person: mature, charismatic, and detail-oriented, smelling truly great, harmonious, and pleasant. It’s worth noting that it’s unique and I’d recommend trying it before buying; it’s not for every nose, especially at first. After half an hour, it transforms into something very pleasant and addictive. The aniseed citrus and cocoa create a cloud that unfolds wonderfully, catching everyone’s attention. A proposal to keep in mind for winter, a different aroma from the crowd that will leave a wonderful sensation on your skin.

SCENT: INCREDIBLE | PROJECTILE: VERY GOOD | LONGEVITY: VERY GOOD | QUALITY: EXCELLENT | BLIND BUY: OF COURSE | RATING: 8.5/10 BEAUTIFUL, CLASSY, WELL-BALANCED, INCREDIBLE SCENT. SWEET BUT EXTREMELY REFINED, WITH HIGH-QUALINGREDIENTS. A CLASSIC FOR ETERNITY.
A luxurious chocolate gourmand; I believe it features the best chocolate note I’ve ever smelled in a men’s perfume. It smells adult, sexy, and formal; it demands class and style to pull off. Wearing it with a sports t-shirt would be a crime and a tasteless act. It’s not for young people, but for those over 35, it’s a very interesting aroma. Lasting power and sillage are quite acceptable. Thanks to Jerry Drake for the sample. The bottle is on its way.

A reformulation loaded with citrus, roasted cocoa (not chocolate), and raw, earthy patchouli, all within a sublime anise aura. Different from the watery, ambroxan-heavy scents of today. I perceive it as a woody chypre. It has that medicinal touch of patchouli (personal opinion). It’s a dense chypre with woods and anise at the end. It’s not a young or seductive scent. It’s spiced, incisive, and rigid, excellent with classic clothing, a suit, or a tuxedo. Perfect for luxury dinners, important meetings, and senior executives who are leaders. The aroma has presence and commands. I wore it for a while but realized it didn’t fit my style, although the fragrance is good. It’s more for men (and women who are) older with the character of successful entrepreneurs. It won’t leave anyone indifferent. The bad part? The bottle. Generic and simple, the current Guerlain style. They cut costs and raise margins. Think about how much care they used to put into bottles: design, glass quality… new era chic@s 🙁
This is a reformulation loaded with citrus, roasted cacao (not chocolate), and raw, earthy patchouli, all under a sublime anise aura. It’s different from the watery, ambroxan-heavy scents of today; I detect a woody chypre vibe. It has that almost medicinal patchouli touch. It’s a chypre with a dense, woody, and anise finish. It’s not a young or seductive scent; it’s a sharp, rigid spice, perfect with classic clothing, a suit, or a tuxedo. I wore it for a while but realized it didn’t fit my style, though the fragrance itself is good. It suits older men (and women) with the character of successful entrepreneurs. It won’t leave anyone indifferent. The downside is the bottle: generic and cheap-looking nowadays, designed to cut costs and boost margins. Guerlain used to care about design and glass quality. I searched for this perfume for so long, and once I got it, I concluded that the EDT (vintage) projects more and smells brighter, with clearer notes. In this EDP, as I’ve read elsewhere, you can detect menthol, which isn’t in the EDT. The EDP is darker; longevity is good but projection is almost non-existent. Maybe I got a 2021 reformulated batch, but I was disappointed because after reading good reviews, I didn’t feel that correspondence in use. That said, the scent itself is, in my opinion, one of the best in men’s perfumery.
A tremendously lordly, gentlemanly, and formal fragrance. I would never wear it on dates or parties. It sends a clear message: no jokes, we are here for business. It’s very strict, conveys class and elegance, with an air of command. I wore it to business meetings to send a signal of power and control, and it worked great. It’s the ‘boss perfume,’ for mature men with responsibilities, no flirting. I like it a lot. It’s like having a black overcoat in the closet: only for special occasions.
Extremely dignified, gentlemanly, serious, and formal fragrance. I wouldn’t wear it on dates or to parties; it sends a clear message: no jokes, business is serious. It’s a very strict scent that conveys class and elegance with an air of command. I wore it to business meetings to project power and control, and it worked perfectly. This is the ‘boss fragrance’ for a mature, responsible man without any coquettishness. That said, I really like it. It’s like having a black overcoat in your closet, reserved for special occasions.
I’m not a huge fan of star anise, so the first time I smelled it on a warm summer afternoon (a mistake), it didn’t sit well with me, as the anise note comes out clear and direct, reinforced like a squire by the pepper. Today, on a humid and fresh morning, I sprayed it generously, and that same star anise emerges… however… PATIENCE, don’t rush ahead! How it appears, at this temperature, it’s much softer… it’s simply DELICIOUS: It prepares the way with a refreshing opening to give way to a formidable, sweet cacao, not black, but mixed with milk, delicately scented with hazelnuts, almost praline-like. Sandalwood collaborates in that overall sweetness. The patchouli note gradually reinforces the fragrance and sustains this cacao that makes you want to eat your arm. What a wonder. Good perfumery teaches us humility every day: Never judge too lightly. It will always surprise you.
I’m not a big fan of star anise, so the first time I tried it in summer (my mistake), it didn’t appeal to me. The anise note comes out clear and direct, reinforced by pepper. Today, on a humid and fresh day, I wore it generously and the anise came out soft… PATIENCE!, how it changes. It turns out simply delicious: opens with something refreshing to give way to a formidable and sweet cocoa—not black, but milky, delicate with hazelnuts, almost praline. Sandalwood helps with that sweetness. Patchouli reinforces everything and holds that cocoa that makes you want to eat your arm. What a marvel. Good perfumery teaches humility: never judge too quickly. It always surprises.
Wow, impressed with this reformulation (rectangular bottle, centered label, not the current square one). When Guerlain reformulates, quality usually drops: simpler bottle, less longevity, weaker aroma… It makes me angry because the difference is usually brutal. But this time, not so much. I had it as ‘Eau Extreme’ and it was super potent, overwhelming me with just two sprays. This new EDP is 99% identical, with the same longevity and sillage, but much easier to wear. Notes of pure cocoa over patchouli, with star anise and bergamot. Delicious, but only for winter. A fine, elegant, and distinguished fragrance, typical of Guerlain. If you’re hesitant to try it thinking it’s watery, trust me: it’s very faithful. On my skin, it lasted over 12 hours and projected well for 8 hours with just 5 sprays. Very happy I bought it.
I bought a recent batch and the name is a perfect joke: it lasts an instant, no more. It smells good, but after a couple of hours, it’s a disappointment.
Fresh day, rain, and the threat of a storm; the perfect day for Guerlain’s L’Instant pour homme EDP.
Wonderful
I can’t quite catch the scent, haha. Very light for an EDP; I barely notice anything but smoke, spices, and a woody base. I have no idea what this perfume is supposed to be :/
Serious and formal fragrance, made for mature people who know their scents. Notes of anise, wood, earth, and cocoa. It starts with dry anise, fleeting citrus, and a constant patchouli that gives it that earthy touch. As it dries down, you get dry cocoa—nothing sweet. Ideal for the office or serious events, best in winter or temperate climates. Projects well without screaming and lasts a long time. I loved it, though it’s not for everyone like a Sauvage or a Bleu de Chanel. Top quality and fair price, but only for those who know what they’re buying.
