It’s very hard to write about love at first sight and why they turned into overwhelming passions. I think my story with this perfume was like this: First, I met its brother, Prada Infusion d’Iris, and although there was attraction, we both knew it would be better to just have coffee occasionally and be friends; neither of us was right for the other. And one day, he introduced me to his older brother, bolder without seeming so, suspiciously serious in that white box. First contact, ummm, I don’t know, a bit acidic without much conviction. Ten minutes later, there was something hidden there, perhaps shy? An hour later, Oh God! Yes, yes… it’s him! The spices, the woods, the lemon, creamy, soft, discreet; sometimes it surprises you by appearing out of nowhere, and above all… it makes you very happy.
This perfume is rich, smells elegant, and very feminine, though I don’t doubt a man would love it too. The first application filled my room; I only sprayed a little. The fresh opening is followed almost immediately by a sweet rose scent that lasts about 20 minutes before drying into amber and vanilla, giving it a powdery finish with a chocolatey touch in the final phase that is very, very pleasant. I sense some iris; this note isn’t in the pyramid, but there’s a makeup-like smell in the dry-down similar to Dior Homme Intense—creamy and powdery. For the first 5 hours, it’s very intense, then the intensity drops a bit, but it still has great projection. Unlike its EDT sibling, this is more soapy. I like it for night; I think it’s a timeless perfume that isn’t annoying, on the contrary, it’s addictive.
The first thing I do when trying a new perfume is spray a little on the cap. When I did this with L’eau Ambree, I immediately thought, ‘Oh my god, it’s Infusion d’Iris!’. Once applied to my skin, the opening is indeed remarkably similar to that other Prada, which I’ve already reviewed and described as very light, almost like it has no longevity on my skin. Well, it seems my body chemistry is fighting against Prada, as I can barely perceive L’eau Ambree right after application either. After checking reviews on the English Fragrantica page, I realized others experience the same thing, so at least I know I’m not alone and I don’t feel so lonely, haha. Anyway, after a while (and several applications all over), I detect mandarin and patchouli at first, plus something similar to the incense in Infusion d’Iris, which is strange since it’s not listed among L’eau Ambree’s notes. Could it be opoponax? By the way, why is ‘ambree’ (amberine) in the fragrance’s name if amber isn’t listed on the box or bottle? On Fragrantica it is listed, and indeed, I can detect amber in the base (or at least I think so), which is my favorite stage and fortunately the one that lasts the longest. In conclusion, I can say that L’eau Ambree is a sophisticated, elegant perfume that, in my case, is very (perhaps too much) skin-scented; it starts as a citrus aroma I find a bit masculine, moves through a mysterious, smoky, and slightly bitter phase, and saves the best for the end: a creamy, sweet but not cloying base that is very pleasant and comforting.
It’s elegant and very long-lasting; I simply love it. It’s one of my favorites for winter.
I love it! It reminds me of soap and makeup. At first, it didn’t impress me much, but in the end… it leaves a very elegant and refined scent. I give it a 10. What a shame, it’s been discontinued in Spain.

sara.guin, it’s not discontinued in Spain; I saw it just a few days ago at the perfumerie at La Roca Village in BCN.
It doesn’t work for me; it smells like citrus and talcum powder for mature women and has almost no sillage. However, once it dries, it leaves a halo of elegance.
The scent hits me wrong; it’s a blend of citrus and talc made for mature women. The trail is barely noticeable, but once it dries, it leaves a halo of elegance.
