A small jewel that smells of leather. It cost me a fortune back then, but I still have it: unchanging and long-lasting. Better for winter.

  • Absolutely sensational. Endless nuances, not by quantity but by fine aromas. The pyramid deceives: lavender, coffee, and vanilla end up smelling like moka. It’s not creamy coffee; it’s dark. Coffee, leather, and cedar provide the darkness; licorice and vanilla offer a sweet counterpoint without being cloying. Thyme adds a Mediterranean spicy note, and lavender brings an intriguing green touch that some recall as curry, but it’s well-blended. Performance of over 12 hours, the best of Kurkdjian. It may be inspired by Le Male, but they don’t resemble each other.

  • Rarely is a fragrance uninterrupted on the skin all day. What intensity! You wish it were a loving bride clinging to you until love ends and you part ways on different roads. So intense it becomes suffocating. Sweet, gourmand coffee aroma. Fabulous and sophisticated, but more for women; the chosen ones didn’t get the “click.” It was beautiful while it lasted, but it had to end.

  • Rarely has a fragrance stuck with me this whole day. What intensity! At first, it captivates and chases you, until the love fades and you have to take different paths. So intense that it becomes overwhelming. It’s sweet, coffee-like, of the gourmand type. It’s an aromatic bomb, sophisticated and devouring. In my opinion, it’s more for women; to the chosen ones, with their permission, it didn’t click. Something in it, despite its quality, didn’t manage to make it my signature. It was very beautiful while it lasted, but it had to end.

  • Bottled umami. The niche scene existed, but Dior Homme under Hedi Slimane revolutionized it in the 2000s, shifting from boring to rock-and-roll and aspirational. Eau Noire is the legend of discontinued luxury. It’s pure umami: aged cheeses, red meats, truffles. Intense for mature palates with that French touch of “dirty” and powerful things. Residual acidic coffee, spices, thyme, saffron. Not gourmand; it’s sexual and animalistic, distilled in an alembic. A violeted vanilla base with Baileys memories. Futuristic and retro-breaking, like the Nemo from The Matrix. Divine, though it costs a fortune today and LVMH has made it hard to buy outside France. Worth a sniff; don’t buy yet.

  • (Batch 2022) A delicious blend of coffee, fennel, and licorice for me. It’s warm and has a sweet touch that borders on gourmand without fully entering it. It’s that herbal sweetness that smells like a herbalist shop. Charming once the fresh air arrives, because in summer it can be excessive. On my nose, it evolves linearly, which isn’t bad. I don’t find anything to complain about. It works well at the office or at formal events, for when you’re moderately dressed up. Totally unisex. It’s addictive because I keep smelling my hand and it doesn’t disappear, staying present. The price is unicorn elixir; I settled for 40ml, but a few sprays are enough. The longevity is notable.

  • A delicious blend of coffee, fennel, and licorice. Warm, it brushes the edge of gourmand without crossing the line—that herbal sweetness of a herbalist shop. Charming for cool summer days, though it can be too much. Linear development, nothing flashy. Ideal for the office or formal events, totally unisex. Addictive; you’ll be smelling your own hands, and it lasts a long time. Unicorn-level price, so I’m happy with 40ml since a few sprays go a long way. Notable longevity.

A sophisticated, dark herbal fragrance with smoky, boozy notes. Originally designed for the club to mask tobacco and sweat, it’s now more refined and wearable. Intoxicating and mysterious, blending herbs, myrrh, birch, and that distinctive curry-like touch of immortelle. An olfactory journey through burnt forests; one of the most original scents in the Dior Privée collection. If you want to smell of smoldering herbs, spices, and liquor, give it a try.

Overwhelming in the best and worst ways. I wish I could love it, but I just can’t…
