What an interesting perfume; it’s a little bar of sweet orange blossom soap, intensely soapy. It smells more youthful than the classic Eau de Parfum or Lace Del, yet it remains classic: a delicious vintage aroma. Smelling clean with such a clear soap is simple, unlike Lace Del which has rum and makes you blush, vulgar in the best possible way. Modernized but not improved. I understand why people hate the reformulation.

  • MdmButterfly

Smells like expensive soap. But, well, like soap. Anyway, on clothes it leaves a soft, rich vanilla. Very pleasant. It lasts hours, and if you don’t notice it, it’s just olfactory fatigue. A scent to look good in during the day.

  • A prism of sparkling floral and sweet notes that reminds me of my favorite: Poême. It has that timeless, classic feminine thread thanks to the plum (very 80s and 90s), narcissus, and ylang-ylang. It possesses the beauty of diverse notes flowing simultaneously with generosity. From start to finish, there’s a great evolution, and the final trail is a reflection of Poême. For noses that appreciate creations from that era: Amarige, Loulou, Poison… It’s a classic, as its name implies.

  • Beautiful, feminine, and enchanting. The opening highlights orange blossom and anise, but as it dries down, roses and vanilla take center stage with a touch of talc. It lingers on the skin with those precious woods. It’s a complete perfume, a golden Hollywood starlet: classic without being obsolete. Lasts 8-10 hours with strong to moderate projection. It’s my daily signature, though it does require you to like roses and sweetness. Highly recommended; JPG knows how to make modern, long-lasting perfumes with a sillage that leaves a mark.

  • Classic and sexy, the neroli opening is gorgeous. The ginger adds a spicy, almost citrusy kick that I absolutely love. Then, a subtle pear drags you into a powdery, sweet floral heart featuring iris, cinnamon, and vanilla, before the narcissus takes over. The base is super sensual—a clean, luminous musk of high quality. It’s an eternal fragrance; it shouldn’t be discontinued, do you agree?

  • Jiconjota

This is a feminine energy perfume—clean and sweet. It features prominent notes of orange blossom, anise, and vanilla. It’s very hard to find in knock-offs, so you won’t go unnoticed wearing it. Just be careful not to buy it blindly, as it doesn’t suit every personality.

  • I used to have a real aversion to this perfume because someone I didn’t get along with wore it; I always thought it was cloyingly sweet. Years have passed, I no longer see that person, and my dislike has faded into curiosity. I’ve tried it several times, and what a surprise—I absolutely love it! Who would have guessed? On my skin, it smells completely different from what I remembered. I was surprised to detect notes I like: anise in the top, ginger in the heart, and cinnamon in the dry-down. I also pick up floral notes, but it’s curious how the spicy notes stand out so much on my skin. It’s fascinating how differently a perfume can smell on each person. Interestingly, other reviews mention it smells soapy, but for me, it’s not soapy at all; I’d define it as sensual. In short, give it a try!

  • verdepensativo

Reminds me of the 90s, both in quality and trail. At first, it smells like the original Poeme back then: cloying, heavily ambered, velvety, and sweet. These days, the original Poeme isn’t quite as sweet or velvety. To me, it smells like ripe fruit—it’s exquisite, feminine, and of such high quality that it leaves me mesmerized. It feels high-end, fun, and playful. The scent hits fast and lingers long. It’s a delight, full of nuances and sensations that unfold over time. Simply wonderful; I recommend it 100%.

  • But what an idiot I was for buying the 30 ml bottle…😭…now that I’ve tried it, I want the bigger size because it’s staying in my life from today on. It has everything: it lasts, leaves a great trail, and is elegant yet sweet at the same time. The only thing is I can’t separate the notes; I just know that together they create something very close to my idea of perfume perfection.

  • laloranghel07

A white floral opening with that explosive musk note that, after half an hour, turns into an incredible sweetness featuring orange blossom and orchids. Then comes the vanilla with sandalwood—super soft and elegant. This isn’t for a regular day, but for standing out at important events, especially at night in a dress or on autumn afternoons. In my opinion, better suited for those over 25.

  • FloorPerfumeadicta

It was my first Classique, love at first sniff. Ginger, orange blossom, vanilla, neroli, and anise. It’s soapy, sweet citrus, powdery floral, versatile, and a beast in longevity and projection. Many compare it to Lancome’s Poeme, but I don’t see them as similar at all. It has a vintage vibe (it’s from the 90s). It stole my heart! Now I understand why I like JPG so much; they are all amazing perfumes, you don’t know which one to choose. I love it, it will always be with me. Would I buy it again? A thousand times yes!

This fragrance is the essence of the 90s. It’s an anchor bridge connecting present and past, awakening the desire to relive those times. Seductive, elegant, like the memory of things and people who no longer exist, it exudes warmth. Spiced, sensual, romantic, elegant, and clean all at once. Classique is a great perfume for any woman who knows who she is and what she wants. Always current, a true classic that we can still appreciate today, enveloping and hard to forget. Delicate yet decisive, very feminine, a sexy symbiosis between an evening gown and the sensuality of letting it drop at the right moment. Sweet, but without comparison to today’s candy bombs; wild when it needs to be, classic yet timeless for sensual women. The femininity it radiates is very intriguing. Classique offers the golden mean of orange blossom, vanilla, and musk; it looks mature and never boring or rigid. It opens with a fresh note, I’d say neroli, accompanied by orange blossom that makes me think of sunscreen. Then, powdered vanilla turns it into a summer day, joined by a fibrous, spiced ginger, a full-bodied slightly soft pear, and a mandarin that donates aquatic and fruity freshness, buffered by iris and orchid. A good scent is sometimes the best makeup. But be careful, because you have to be prepared for this subtle and feminine violence that floods you after spraying it. (Review based on a 2019 decant)

  • I discovered it almost 10 years after its launch. It was love at first sniff. It’s everything I hope for in a perfume: sexy, glamorous, mysterious, and fine. I don’t use it as much anymore, but it’s there to remind me that, even if just for a few hours, I can be a diva too.

  • Classique is floral, citrusy, and ambered, formal and sober, long-lasting, and outside the current caramelized gourmand concept. It seems suitable for all year round, has presence, is elegant, and classic. In my case, the slightly bitter or greenish neroli is too noticeable; if you’re looking for the bubblegum sweetness of L’Interdit or My Way, this isn’t your option; these lean more toward the direction of Ralph Lauren’s Woman, very green but without the sweetness. A low-cost alternative is Avon’s Today. Who will like it: obviously, lovers of classics.

  • estefipb

I liked it, but meh. I feel like I’d buy many others before this one, but honestly, I liked it quite a bit, even if it wasn’t love at first sniff. There are notes that feel very mature, but that’s due to the classic nature of the perfume, not anything else. One thing I didn’t like is that I wore it about three hours ago and it lost a lot of its magic; that lowers the score significantly, as I don’t feel it’s very long-lasting. There’s something that doesn’t quite close for me that I can’t decipher, beyond its longevity. I don’t love it and wouldn’t rush to buy it, but it’s a solid like.

  • I’ve been waiting years for it to stop being so ubiquitous, and finally, I feel like it’s part of me, not just the streets. It’s the essence of a woman in a bottle: creamy, floral, sweet, slightly soapy. To this day, I haven’t found anything else like it; no JPG has disappointed me in their new creations. Scandal and its flankers don’t conquer me; too much honey and sugar, but nothing new. This is an incredibly sexy perfume that invites you to hug it. The EDT lasts longer and is sweeter. If you like it, don’t think twice; with Classique, you can’t go wrong, whatever your age. Scent: 9/10, Projection: 9/10, Longevity: 9/10. Wish the EDP was exactly like this but more intense, it would be 10/10.

  • whisper_of_love

I gave it another shot today. Undeniably, it’s a man’s perfume, but it feels cloying to me. I’m still learning to distinguish notes and figure out which ones my nose or pH tolerates, so I can’t pinpoint exactly what gives me a headache. I think the neroli, depending on the composition, really overwhelms me. I don’t recommend buying it blindly or thinking it’s for everyone. Plus, it has great fixation and longevity.

  • It reminded me of Mugler’s Alien, even though they don’t share notes. Ironic, because I read reviews saying Alien smelled like fly spray, and with Classique, I finally understood what they meant. Alien is more common than Yanbal’s Ccori Passion, which has anise and orchid, but I have no idea which note gives it that insecticide vibe. I remember smelling it differently when I tested it in the store and think I got mixed up with other JPGs that day. Maybe my zero tolerance for sandalwood and ylang-ylang brought me to this. I admit it smells like fine soap, but nothing else worked for me.

  • Every review raved about it. Sure, it has great sillage and longevity, but the scent felt very heavy and suffocating to me. They say it’s timeless, but it’s not. When you smell it, you know it’s a 90s classic, so I don’t blame the ones who say it smells like grandma; literally, grandmas were only 20 when it came out.

  • I think this is my mom’s silver bottle perfume; she absolutely loved it, but it used to bother me. I guess it’s the pear or anise note. It’s sweet, but a vintage kind of sweet that just didn’t sit right with me.

  • Magnaroma

I bought Clasique because people said it resembled Poème. I tested it on my skin and liked it. But when I purchased it, I messaged the seller thinking I’d been scammed. He assured me it was genuine, so I checked other stores and realized it wasn’t the same perfume I bought. That’s the situation. Although it’s similar to Poème, Clasique has a note I don’t like that I can’t identify. After reading recent reviews, it must have been reformulated. While it lasts all day, with a single spritz, it feels cheap. I’m giving it another try today, but honestly, it’s not worth it.

  • It gives off a more serious, classic, and formal vibe. I like it in person, but it’s not my favorite. I’d wear it for work or meetings. The longevity is good. I wouldn’t use it daily; it’s a bit heavy and can become overwhelming if worn repeatedly.

  • perfumitos

Some say it smells like clean soap, but that’s not my experience. It only works in winter on very cold, dry days (where it smells like a soft floral soap). In humid weather, it takes on a baby wipe scent that I dislike. On hot days, it’s dense, seems innocent, but it isn’t. I’ll give it credit for not being harsh or overpowering, and since I bought it a long time ago, it still smells exactly the same, true to its original formula.

  • It’s a 90s classic, very similar to Givenchy’s Amarige. They share the same notes. When I first bought it, I didn’t realize it until I compared it to Amarige, and indeed, they’re about 98% identical.

  • I gifted this to my mother and I enjoy it myself, though its projection isn’t the most lasting. The floral notes are very pleasant, but in my opinion, it’s not for young people; I associate it with women aged 30 to 40.

  • It’s interesting because they say it represents the 90s and is an era jewel, but it’s the opposite of Leau de Dissey. It’s perfect for special or formal occasions where you want to leave a trail. To me, it’s not a ‘lady’ scent: it’s intense, spicy, and fills the air with complexity. The flowers bring sensuality and sweetness, while the spices provide body and depth. It’s an identity; you smell it and recognize it instantly. There’s no single dominant note; it’s the whole combo. I wouldn’t recommend it if you prefer soft or fruity-floral fragrances. It’s not discreet; it’s the opposite. I also don’t think it’s for ladies or teens. It could work for men, though it’s clearly feminine.

  • I feel the same way about the wisteria notes—that fragrance of spring afternoons that flooded the garden, unmistakable. I’m surprised it doesn’t list that note; it smells exactly like a wisteria garden and orange blossom.

  • I agree 100% with Paulix: it smells like a garden of wisteria and orange blossom, a dreamy spring breeze. Even though it doesn’t list wisteria, my nose says yes. Quite similar to Givenchy’s Amarige, but less so than Poeme; it’s missing the peach note. That’s my personal take. Beautiful, good price, but it doesn’t turn my head. It’s nostalgic for me, bringing back good memories. I was looking for something like Poeme, but it wasn’t quite it, though it definitely has the Belletrud vibe.

  • anamaestracorreo

Smells amazing. It’s great that it’s still in stock since 1993; the good stuff lasts. It has that vintage vibe but is totally wearable today. Smells like anise orange blossom with a hint of cinnamon at the base. A really cool perfume.

  • Playas1010

Very subtle and feminine. At first, when they gifted it to me, I thought it was strong, but after almost ten years, I’m completely fascinated by it.

  • Jean Paul Gaultier Classique – A 25-year love story… unrequited. Today I finally finished my 50ml bottle they gifted me back in 2000. Yes, 25 years later! My relationship with this perfume has been complicated: I tried it, but every time I wore it, I’d just say ‘ugh’. The funny thing is that on paper, it has everything to please me. Its notes are: Top: bergamot, mandarin, star anise, pear, rose, and neroli. Heart: iris, ginger, plum, orchid, ylang-ylang, and nardos. Base: vanilla, amber, musk, cinnamon, and sandalwood. And I love all of them! But on my skin, they blended together; I couldn’t distinguish anything, it was a dense scent where my nose got lost. I won’t deny it has good projection and trail; quality is noticeable. But simply, it wasn’t for me. In recent years, I didn’t know what to do with it. I wanted to use it up, so I started layering it with potent vanillas, and magic appeared! Especially with Zara’s Angelic Vanilla… it transformed into something addictive! I loved it so much that now that it’s finished… I’m even sad! Classique… A quarter of a century later, we finally say goodbye… thanks for that reconciling final chapter.

  • When Classique first came out, I was 9. I was shopping with my mom, and they let us test it at a perfumery. My mom wrinkled her nose in disgust, but that beautiful bust got burned into my mind. When I turned 16, I asked for it, and finally, they gifted it to me, and it’s been part of my life ever since. It’s not my signature scent since I have many, but I always have Classique; I love wearing it in winter and spraying it on my scarf to wrap myself up when walking down the street. It’s been reformulated, but I think it’s a very good reformulation. Smelling it is like returning to the 90s, returning to my childhood.

  • This perfume reminds me of my 90s youth; there was always someone wearing it, and if you were young back then and smell it, you’ll recognize it instantly. When I smelled it again at a perfumery a couple of years ago, I had so many memories I had to buy it. I don’t save it for special occasions; I just wear it whenever I feel like it. It’s not a scent I absolutely adore (it smells a lot like Nancy to me), and honestly, I’m not sure if I’ll repurchase it since I have so many I like, but maybe I will. Who knows!

  • A legendary aroma I discovered late and have fallen in love with. Those sparkling notes of bergamot and star anise make it addictive. It’s refreshing yet dense and enveloping. On me, the vanilla and ylang-ylang don’t stand out much, so I see it as ideal for spring or fall. It’s not excessively warm or fresh; it lands right in the middle. I feel it’s citrusy but a resinous citrus due to the amber note, probably… certainly talcum-like but not powdery. I love it; it seems like a gem you need to know at least once in your life if you have a passion for perfumery

  • laila5840

What a pleasant discovery this perfume was. I find it very rich and delicious; honestly, I think it’s going to become one of my favorites. I’d buy it again, it has a huge trail and it’s delicious

  • JuanPepinot

I gifted a BPI miniature to my wife; it came in a discontinued JPG box, probably from 15+ years ago. I bought it on Facebook Marketplace. The set included Madame, Classique, Fleur du Male, and Le Male. I just realized in 2025 that the Classique smells a lot like the discontinued Fleur du Male, considered a jewel, which I have a 125ml of. I don’t know if the current version smells the same, but to me, it smells like white floral, talcum powder, and citrus, which characterizes the Fleur. I thought Kurkdjian designed it, but I read it was Cavallier. I recommend trying it if you can’t find the FdM

  • It smells so sexy, enveloping, and captivating… It keeps a touch of elegance (without being the typical high-heel kind like CH, even though it’s a classic). A friend used to wear it, and I loved it for going out and partying

  • This perfume brings back memories from 2006 when I was 17. A model friend from the Maison in Havana gave it to an Italian guy, and every time we hung out, I’d go to his place to spray this enchanting scent. At the club, everyone kept asking about it and complimenting us. It’s incredible how a perfume can take you back to the past and revive moments that never return but stay forever. Later, I ended up in Barcelona in 2018 and found it at a small liquidation store; they sold me a new 50ml bottle for 20€ and I didn’t hesitate. I stored it for six years, and today I found a 100ml and another 50ml, both vintage 1993 first edition. I bought both without thinking twice. I love them; smelling them transports me right back to those years. 💕

  • One of my absolute favorites, giving it 10/10. Hoping they don’t run out because I love them so much. It’s delicious; I think it’s the best in the Classic line and I’m obsessed. Great projection and longevity, smells like white flowers. I wear it every day and it’s one of my most loved perfumes

  • Antoperfumada

Never tried this before, and now I don’t understand why. Smells super feminine and classic, perfect to keep as my everyday scent 💜
