  • I love it, bottled power and sillage. Sweet orange that over time becomes soapy and elegant. Definitely this fragrance presents a classic brought to modernity, what a delicious, intoxicating, and sexy experience until you can’t take it anymore, versatile and versatile. This fragrance is very well done, one of my favorites from JPG.

  • IT SMELLS LIKE OLYMPEA BY PACO RABANNE. I thought it would be sweeter and more vanilla-like, but no; on my skin, there’s a lot of ginger and a bit of a soapy note.

  • On my skin, it smells like caramelized orange. Delicious, sweet, and indulgent. Not cloying or heavy. I really like it.

  • I’m sorry, but for me, this is a headache squared. What perfume gives me nausea? 🙁 It’s a shame because I adore the classic Le Male for men, but this pair isn’t for me. I generally don’t like this women’s line; the scents are too powdery and orangey. I’m sorry, Mr. Gaultier.

  • MdmButterfly

Honestly, I smell it identical to Kenzo Jungle without the spice kick. I prefer this one because the orange is better adorned. I don’t detect any flowers.

  • You’re next on my treasure list. Jean Paul shined, modernized, and improved the essence of the classic original. Orange ginger, wow, you have to try it if you like the original Classique.

  • Classique Essence de Parfum is very feminine and exquisite. In the opening, the mandarin is very noticeable—juicy, caramelized, and wrapped in the sweetness of whipped cream and vanilla, a divine combination. The white flowers are sweet and prominent, but the undisputed star is the orange blossom; I also sense something soapy, perhaps due to the aldehydes. It’s a sweet and warm scent, yet also fresh, exquisitely crafted with excellent longevity and projection.

  • Finally in my hands, I was dying to try it. The moment I sprayed it, I thought, ‘I know this scent.’ It’s very similar to Armani Privé’s Vert Malachite, identical in the opening. As it dries down, Essence becomes sweeter and creamier, while Vert Malachite remains eminently floral throughout.

Hi, I felt it smelled like Olympea, just like Altumbra. I atomized Olympea and noticed a rich vanilla. After 5 minutes, it already smelled like Classic Essence… anyone else?

Top review for MAGGY VC: there’s nothing more to add, it’s all said. This is my first JPG fragrance; I’ve always loved the bottles but couldn’t find the notes until I stumbled upon Classique Essence and fell in love. It reminds me of a Cointreau-style liqueur; the aldehydes make it super clean, with orange blossom and sambac jasmine (my favorites), woods, benzoin, and vanilla that on my skin doesn’t feel like whipped cream. It has incredible sillage and longevity; finally, I have my JPG silhouette.

  • I made the mistake of judging it poorly when testing it with other fragrances at the perfumery; one made the tangerine orange stand out too much, and I regretted buying it blind. But when the order arrived, I went back to reading the reviews and couldn’t hold back. What an exquisite fragrance! On my skin, it projects a lot for the first hour and then feels soft when moving, which I thought indicated poor performance. But at three hours, thinking it wasn’t being felt anymore, my brother said ‘what a delicious perfume, how it feels’. At five hours, my mom arrived and said that delicious scent was felt throughout the house since it arrived. That’s when I understood I had a small sweet monster in front of me, but nothing cloying, that stands out and takes all the compliments. I wouldn’t buy it again just because I feel it’s the first sweet gourmand fragrance (and from JPG) that I like and want to keep experimenting with, plus I don’t have many in my collection to have as a backup. But without a doubt, I would recommend it.

What an exquisite fragrance and what a development. It opens powerfully like a slightly spicy orange syrup, very intoxicating. That opening lasts almost an hour on me. Then it changes dramatically to a subtle but noticeable white floral, so feminine. The base is sweet and creamy, vanilla with cream and woods that make it warm and enveloping without being gourmand. It lasts hours and with just 2 sprays. It will definitely always be in my collection.

  • It’s a good perfume where the notes are clearly distinguished. It was a blind buy since it was discontinued. Although it’s nice, elegant, and has high performance, if I had smelled it before, maybe I wouldn’t have bought it because the soapy touch is very evident, although it does give it distinction. Overall, it doesn’t seem anything special to me. I hope no one takes offense; it’s very good but it doesn’t kill me. For sweet, clean, and woody oranges, I already have my beloved Happy of Buddha by Rituals, which transports me and has great performance. At first, I feel almost syrupy sweet oranges with the spicy touch of ginger. All the notes are felt in their phases. Its charm is versatility: it works well for work or a wedding, day or night, cold or hot. It has an aura of elegance and will please most people. A good perfume, but I doubt I’ll repurchase due to personal taste and because I already have my Happy of Buddha. Have a great weekend, fragrance friends.

I call this EDP my orange with cream 💖 It’s one of my favorites in the collection; every time I wear it, I get smiles and compliments. The longevity, trail, and projection are very high, but it has the virtue of not being annoying. It’s sweet but not cloying, not childish or vulgar. If you like orange, it makes you feel good, comfortable, and happy 👍

  • Cosmicgirl

I loved it. I bought it blind because there were no testers, I opened it in my backpack, and OMG, the quality of JPG is incredible! Every new perfume makes me smile. I haven’t even gotten home yet and it’s already one of my favorites. I see it as seductive and overwhelming, intoxicating you with its sweetness and making you happy. I was a bit confused by the opening, which smelled herbal, like anise water and herbs, and I thought several times about returning it. But it changes completely: it returns to the spray opening and stabilizes into delicious oranges, sweet but not sugary, natural and juicy. I think it’s gourmand without being heavy, like vanilla oranges with whipped cream and honey. It’s pleasant and addictive, very timeless. I compare it to YSL’s Libre Intense; although that one is rich, it seems simple next to Classique. Classique is more ‘hey, I am definitely perfume’; Libre Intense seems like a toy. Classique Essence is pleasantly penetrating, intense without you realizing it, like an enchantment that wraps around you and lingers in the room for hours after. Suitable for many occasions; the scent can be moderate or strong depending on the amount. If you’re young, the opening might bother you, but what follows will be amazing. I don’t recommend buying it blind due to the complexity of the opening-to-heart transition; give it time to evolve and surprise you.

What a beautiful fragrance. I can smell the flowers, the orange, and the cream ♥️ It’s a little dessert that’s not invasive. It just arrived and I already love it.

  • Jean Paul Gaultier never disappoints me. This fragrance is identical to Armani Prive’s Vert Malachite, has the soapy touch of Vie Est Belle L’Éclat, and the sweet orange touch of l’Interdit Rouge. If you find it, don’t hesitate to buy it; it has a huge trail and great longevity.

  • I’ve been looking for this perfume for months. It all started when I saw the bottle with the amber elixir at a perfumery; I knew of its quality and how hard it was to find since it was discontinued. I couldn’t believe it—I had it right in front of me! The salesperson sprayed it on blotting paper, and wow: that soapy sweetness of the cream with the perfect touch of aldehydes, vanilla, and orange. I’m not an expert, but I think it’s the first perfume where I can identify almost all the notes. The Gaultier house has been a discovery; it smells like vintage class soap, like a Hollywood diva’s creamy foam. My joy broke when I bought it and they told me they had no stock. I said it was weird, they checked, and confirmed they wouldn’t have it again. How? I asked them to keep it for me, but they said it was impossible. I almost cried and saved the blotter like gold. I traveled to Europe searching in vain until, after some searching, I found it online. I had to suffer a bit to get it, but now it’s mine. I’m enjoying it while writing this, happy to have it and sad that when it runs out, I can’t restock. I’ll use it for special occasions so it never runs out.

  • It arrived today and has a very strong orange opening. After a few minutes, it turns sweet, and after a couple of hours, it smells a lot like Jean Paul Gaultier’s Le Male, but much softer and sweeter. I adore it because it reminds me of my dad 🥰

  • I absolutely love this perfume! I wear it all year round, and on my skin, the orange clashes beautifully with the whipped cream. It lasts about 5 hours on my skin (my pH is tricky), but on clothes, it’s another story; I have a sweater that still smells exactly the same as it did a week ago. I love it!

  • It was a blind buy that was too accurate; I’m fascinated from start to finish. I find it super versatile, shining just as much on a rainy or hot day, as well as on a casual or elegant day. I’d describe it as a creamy, delicate dessert, a white floral mousse macerated in orange juice with vanilla and a hint of ginger. I also perceive the aldehydes, subtle but there; in me, the jasmine stands out more than the orange blossom and I love it. It projects more than an arm’s length away, even though I feel it close to my skin, which is very strange, and I swear I didn’t smell anything after 5 hours, haha.

  • I love this perfume; I want to smell it and keep smelling it; it’s totally addictive. Sweet orange but not cloying, with an elegant touch. Excellent longevity. What a shame it’s so hard to find in the market.

  • Jiconjota

The orange and whipped cream notes are well present; it’s a perfume with a lot of personality. You have to know how to wear it because it can be invasive, it stands out a lot, and on top of that, it lasts forever: more than 24 hours on clothes and more than 12 on skin. It was a great purchase; I take care of it like gold since it’s discontinued, what a pity. I love JPG.

  • Cosmicgirl

This perfume, after my long olfactory journey and trying hundreds, remains one of my favorites. I think it’s not valued enough; it’s tremendous and so harmonious. Just catching a whiff of it in the air and you say ‘mmm, that’s delicious.’ What madness that it’s discontinued. It’s not vintage or like other discontinued ones; I see it as a more feminine and gentle version of YSL’s Libre Intense. Sometimes the orange reminds me of Poison Girl, and the cream of Cloud. It has a bit of everything I love and is the most versatile of the ones mentioned. And the performance is insane.

  • ZenNatsume

Excellent creation by Daphne Bugey for Jean Paul Gaultier. It’s white floral, vanilla-spiced with ginger; my nose picks up an almond note that fascinates me. It has an addictive yet balanced sweetness thanks to the whipped cream, all over a base of benzoin and cashmere skin that makes it sensual. I see it as very feminine, with romantic and coquettish jasmine, mysterious orange blossom, and an orange touch that makes it unique. It’s my favorite from the house; I detect high quality, wide sillage, moderate projection, and it lasts 12 hours on my skin. They say it’s discontinued but it’s still available. Delicious!

  • verdepensativo

Tremendous quality, tremendous perfume! It’s overwhelming and a bit suffocating, lasts for hours with high potency, has a deep sillage, and rich nuances. It’s not a gourmand per se, but it’s sweet to no end, feminine, expressive, and different from other sweet scents with a popcorn aroma out there. I think it’s a classic. I love that sweet and almond-y opening but also the fruity side. A delight!

  • I bought it blind because reading how wonderful it is, I didn’t want to miss out. And I was right, ladies, this is a beauty. It reminds me of the Classique EDT I liked but didn’t fully love; this one has a rich orange note and a dry-down with a makeup scent so good, like lipstick. When you walk, that aroma reaches you and makes your heart happy. Recommended if you’re looking for scents that are no longer being made.

  • FloorPerfumeadicta

I love this fragrance! I bought it blind because of the whipped cream and orange notes. It must be super sweet if that’s the case. I get a feeling of an orange cake with cream, vanilla, and a hint of lemon on my skin every time I wear it. I’m obsessed! It lasts all day (I put it on at 12:30 and I still smell it) and it’s incredible on clothes, lasting for days. I recommend it for spring and summer. What a shame it’s discontinued; it’s a gem.

  • username21

Powerful, wonderful, feminine, and unique. It exudes class wherever you go. The scent floats beautifully; it’s very creamy when it dries down and in the base. The opening is fresh, sweet, and juicy. The aldehydic notes are moderate and add elegance. 100% worth having in your vanity.

  • karugervazoni

First time agreeing with all the comments and more. I bought it blind and it’s already one of my favorites. I absolutely love it! It’s an orange, orange blossom, cream, and vanilla bomb. I guess the ingredients are top-notch because I can identify the notes just by smelling it.

  • Finally, I’ve gotten the hang of this fragrance; it’s very sweet, true, but it exudes class and is by no means stuffy. I don’t use it much, only for special occasions, and not because it’s hard to get. I must emphasize it has beastly longevity, one of the highlights of my humble collection.

  • DaviniaTolkien

It’s a stunningly beautiful perfume; personally, I see it as all-season. If it’s super hot and the sun is blazing, you can use it moderately (two or three sprays) and it’s fine. It doesn’t suffocate, it’s not cloying; it’s a creamy jasmine, I don’t feel it’s gourmand at all. Here the stars are jasmine, the whipped cream giving that creamy touch, and the orange, a little sweet orange, but again: not cloying. It’s curious, but I barely smell the orange blossom, maybe in a cooler season I’ll catch it better. Though, to be honest, don’t get obsessed with this perfume, it’s not the fifth wonder. P.S.: I know a decant of the legendary Alien Essence and yes, I apologize if I offend the intense fans, but the truth is they ARE 99% similar. I’m sorry, but that’s just how it is.

  • JessicaObregon

If I say it’s my signature scent, that says it all. I’ve been choosing it for years; no one has ever asked about a fragrance as much as they do with Classique Essence. Feminine, potent with a sillage that doesn’t overwhelm. One of the best perfumes in history and one of the least appreciated. For my daughters, it smells like mom, which fills me with emotion. It’s orange but also floral, with the presence of a high-end perfume. I’ll keep buying it until my last day.

  • I bought this blind, and while I like it on paper, I don’t smell it on my skin until a long time later. I can’t explain why.

  • Jimena Pala

It’s a beast of a perfume. Given it’s discontinued, having it is a privilege. It’s unique, nothing common. A one-of-a-kind scent that gets compliments. It’s a perfume for when you need to not go unnoticed, exuding class and versatility. Lasts up to a week on clothes and a full day on skin.

  • BeatrizBlackwood

Suddenly, new bottles of Classique Essence are appearing in deep South America. I got one, what a gorgeous fragrance.

  • A friend passed me a sample of Classique Essence, supposedly better than the EDT. I have to say, on my skin, I didn’t like it at all. I think it’s the whipped cream note that turns into ‘sour cream’ on my skin, ruining the perfume entirely. I’m happy I stuck with the Classique EDT, a clean aroma of orange blossom and amber, with notes like star anise making it sparkling, warm, and long-lasting. Always test on skin because ratings don’t always match personal taste. Also, I see a clear trend of idealizing discontinued perfumes and belittling others we still have. I need to discover the EDP. I’m definitely going for it.

  • Adri Zavala

This is a gem. I bought it blind and have zero regrets; on the contrary, I’m hoping to find a refill soon. It smells like a vanilla and orange cake with creamy cream. Sweet and very special, I get many compliments wearing it. It’s gorgeous.

  • I adore it. I’m almost out and can’t find it anywhere. It’s delicious, elegant, refined, not overwhelming but with presence. I’ve received countless compliments with this exquisite perfume. I want to buy it again!

  • Yeli parfum

Please bring it back! It’s a beautiful perfume, smelling like oranges wrapped in whipped cream with white flowers… very pleasant, not cloying, refined… I absolutely love it. I’m almost out, so I’m reviewing it so it doesn’t disappear from my memories. Come back!
