Descripción
Chemical Love by Olibere Parfums is an oriental vanilla fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2018, this composition is signed by Luca Maffei. The top notes unfold with absinthe, elemi, and bitter orange; the heart reveals a creamy blend of Baileys Irish Cream, ylang-ylang, and orange blossom; while the base settles on vanilla, sandalwood, patchouli, musk, and labdanum.

This house draws inspiration from movies, specifically Scarface, with its excess and violence. For me, it doesn’t smell like that. At first, I detect ylang-ylang, an exotic flower that clashes with my skin, but within 10 minutes, the whiskey cream note emerges: boozy, sweet yet sober, with a fresh base of absinthe and vanilla. Then comes the sandalwood, making it woody and creamy thanks to labdanum and elemi. Over time, the Baileys and woods intensify, boosted by a hidden patchouli and an animalic musk, reminiscent of a gentle, addictive oud. I like it, though it’s complicated. It’s unisex with moderate sillage and longevity. I wouldn’t recommend buying it blind.

I don’t get this perfume. Vintage? Gourmand? Woody? It’s all at once. It smells like a classic like Knowing or Paloma Picasso with an added boozy gourmand accord that isn’t well blended. It opens with a potent 80s-style ylang-ylang, sharpened by absinthe; it feels strong and woody. Then it sweetens with indistinct liquor notes, alternating between bursts of sweetness, white florals, and resins. I didn’t dislike it, but I wouldn’t wear it. Moderate to heavy trail, lasts between 6 and 8 hours.
I’ve never seen the original movie, so I’m focusing on the scent. I picked up the 50ml of Chemical Love following my favorite YouTubers who call it ‘the different gourmand.’ And it is: sensual and elegant, an exquisite blend that smells vintage. It opens resinous and aromatic, the bitter orange fades quickly to give way to ylang-ylang mixed with Baileys cream; the orange blossom tames the sweetness. On skin, it becomes creamy, woody, and sensual, always with that hint of absinthe. In the dry down, vanilla and patchouli seal the deal. Moderate trail, lasts over 6 hours depending on sprays.
