  • Meh, you have to press your nose right against the skin to smell it. Fresh out of the bottle, it smells nice, but it doesn’t hit me hard and lasts about a breath. For this type of skin-and-clean scent, I prefer Massimo Dutti’s White Tulip and Barley; it lasts longer, you can actually smell it on others, and I love the scent. I know it’s for layering too, just like Narciso Rodriguez’s Pure Musk, which lasts forever. In my opinion, just because a perfume is marketed for layering doesn’t mean it has to be imperceptible. White Tulip and Barley is a standalone fragrance, and for ten euros more, it’s a similar scent that smells real, not a gimmick sold as a layering base. I agree the business is sound, but this is just my take.

  • @xakaranda: Zara sells this as a fragrance for layering, supposedly to enhance another scent or add musky nuances. I don’t know if other brands have done something like this, but the business model is sound. White Tulip & Barley is definitely a perfume in its own right; I wouldn’t categorize this one as such. At most, it’s a minimalist fragrance. It’s kind of like Molecule01, but using ambrettolide instead of Iso E Super.

  • It’s wonderful! Clean and crystal clear. For me, the best perfume Zara has ever made. They say it’s ideal for boosting niche-style perfumes like Ab Initio; it would be similar to Musk Therapy, but worn alone, it’s perfect just as is.

  • What a lovely, soft, fresh, and luminous perfume… I don’t know how to describe it. It has a slight resemblance to D&G’s Light Blue, but Blanc-à-Porter elevates that overused aroma. I really liked it. Smells like cleanliness, freshness, and relaxation; perfect for staying at home, going out during the day, or wearing at the office. People say it’s for layering, but I love it just on its own.

  • Picked it up on sale. I don’t usually layer, but maybe I’ll start. I liked it because it’s clean and I don’t have many of that type. I stashed it in the summer drawer (now it’s winter) and haven’t used it; it doesn’t feel like a cold-weather fragrance, even though that’s just my personal take during this gourmand phase. I’ll update in spring/summer. It evaporates instantly. I usually don’t complain about longevity, but this is absurd; I’m learning I’m not a ‘skin scent’ person. Will keep updating.

Soft and woody, smells like freshly washed skin. It’s gorgeous, though it doesn’t last long. Great on its own or for layering with musky scents; it gives a nice boost to Ramón Monegal’s Invisible But Cool or Versace’s Dylan Turquoise. Perfect for sleeping in, but for everyday wear, it feels a bit too light. Absolutely unisex.
