Vetiver Glacier by Montblanc is earthy, woody, and aromatic. From the start comes the vetiver: realistic, herbal, and dry, without the usual citrus top notes. Minutes later, sandalwood enriches it, giving a sensual, almost edible sensation, with no further changes afterward. It’s elegant, more for day than night, works in any season, and is good for the office. Longevity was disappointing: it lasted a maximum of five or six hours, which is a shame because I liked the scent so much. The trail also stayed very close to the skin. I’ll try it again; while I smelled it, I wanted to buy it, but if the performance stays the same, I’ll discard it.
What a shame that this great composition doesn’t maintain its opening: effusive, vigorous, and very cold. The name ‘Vetiver Glacier’ is well-chosen; Nathalie Lorson did a good job, though like all perfumers, she repeats common chords. After that opening with juniper, fresh vetiver, and a touch of ginger, it shifts radically to an earthy vetiver like ‘Encre Noire’, less dark, green but not like Guerlain’s. The sweet, creamy sandalwood base defines the fragrance. If it lasted longer, it would be incredible, but it’s okay with a weak longevity for its price. The bottles also seem to lack something to be high-end, although the glass is heavy. Montblanc always owes us, even if some smell good. Edit: longevity on skin isn’t as bad as the projection; I’ll soon review Extreme Leather and Black Meisterstück.
I’m sharing the gifted vial, and it’s a very well-crafted vetiver, but I notice a certain creamy and sweet point, perhaps due to the sandalwood, a slight honeyed touch. It’s very good, ideal for the office and mild or cool days. Performance is where it fails: after forty-five minutes, on skin and clothes, it becomes very faint, which is disappointing because the fragrance is good. It reminds me of Sycomore, though this one seems slightly sweeter.
Got a sample vial and it’s a very well-executed vetiver, though I detect a creamy, slightly sweet note, perhaps from the sandalwood giving it a honeyed touch. Smells great for the office or mild days, but the longevity is disappointing; after 45 minutes it’s already very faint on skin and clothes. Reminds me of Sycomore, but this one is a bit sweeter.
I really liked the fragrance, but it’s very timid. It doesn’t stand out at all; it’s almost ghostly. You barely perceive the vetiver that’s mentioned so much, and it doesn’t linger on the skin. What a pity, because it had the potential to be a masterpiece.
Perfect for fall and winter. The vetiver is beautifully done, and the juniper combined with sandalwood adds a creamy note ideal for cold weather. Contrary to what others say, it lasted wonderfully for me: about 4 hours on skin and up to 7 on clothes.
Ideal for autumn and winter; the vetiver is well-executed and enhanced by juniper and sandalwood. I agree it’s creamy, which makes it perfect for the cold. Unlike others that claim it doesn’t last, it worked great for me: about four hours on skin and up to seven on clothes.
A simple and very pleasant vetiver to wear.
Not for everyone; you have to like the mix of sandalwood and vetiver. I expected more. It’s not unpleasant, but I think the sandalwood was unnecessary and would have worked better with another wood. Opens citrusy and sharp with vetiver in the dry down. My inexperienced nose didn’t detect the juniper, but I did smell the background sandalwood. It’s elegant and requires formal wear. It didn’t disappoint me completely, but it’s not my favorite. It deserves a try, it’s versatile, though something doesn’t quite convince me.
Not for everyone; you need to like the sandalwood and vetiver blend. I expected more; it’s not unpleasant, but I think it could do without the sandalwood and use another wood instead. The opening is citrusy and sharp with vetiver upfront; I didn’t recognize the juniper, but I did pick up the sandalwood in the base. It’s elegant and suitable for formal wear. While it didn’t disappoint me entirely, it’s not my favorite. Worth trying—it’s versatile, but something just doesn’t quite convince me.
Starts dry with vetiver, then sandalwood makes it creamy; I didn’t notice the juniper. Smells formal and mature, something I’m not ready for yet at my age. After five hours on skin, I couldn’t smell it anymore.
It dries down quickly, but within minutes becomes creamy thanks to the sandalwood; I didn’t detect the juniper. It’s a formal, mature fragrance, and given my age, I don’t see myself wearing it. The truth is, after 5 hours on skin, I couldn’t smell it anymore.
