Smells amazing and works for any season, though it lacks a bit of longevity. Overall, a good perfume.

Smells very similar to Polo Blue, Nautica Voyage, and Eternity Aqua, reminding me of my old Penguin Premium Blend. It smells great but lacks punch; if it had better projection, it would be a summer bomb. Bought it on sale but wouldn’t buy it again. Go for Eternity Aqua instead; it lasts longer and costs less.

Smells rich and is very similar to Davidoff’s Cool Water Reborn. The longevity is a shame, maxing out at two hours, but during that time it leaves a very pleasant trail. It’s super fresh, ideal for heat, the beach, or sports. If you’re looking for something fresh, try regular Cool Water; if you want something more similar to this, go for Reborn since it lasts longer.

Very potent and rich opening, but unfortunately lacks projection and longevity. I’m happy and furious because it smells great but fades in under an hour.

Good perfume with a fresh, salty, marine opening that later settles into woody notes. Feels fresh and elegant, easy to wear daily especially in the heat. I wore it above 38 degrees and it performed well, earning me several compliments. For me, it lasts excellently—about 7 hours on skin with moderate projection of 2 to 3 hours, and lasts two days on clothes.

Didn’t like it; nothing innovative. The opening resembles Nautica Voyage, and the dry down is like Ferragamo’s Acqua Essenziale, which is much better.

It’s like blue has a smell. Bought Explorer Ultra Blue for summer and loved it. Everyone tried my Montblancs and I chose this one for its rich, extremely fresh scent. Then I read the reviews and feel they’re being harsh comparing projection blah blah… shut up, expert, and enjoy it. It’s like going to the Sicilian sea in summer and jumping in for an Aperol Spritz. I give it 4.5 out of 5.

Excellent perfume, no complaints. Lasts 7 to 8 hours on skin, highly recommended. I give it 100 out of 100.

  9. Decided to try Explorer Ultra Blue, and the store clerk left me a sample I forgot about until I rescued it. On a sunny 20-25 degree day, I sprayed it on a white shirt and jeans and was enchanted by the personal scent and compliments. It smells marine but refined and casual, with an elegant touch and very easy to wear. I added it to my collection the next day. Don’t expect top-tier performance or projection (max 5-6 hours), but it does its job perfectly without pretension.

  10. A marine fragrance with all the bells and whistles. Reminds me of the ADG line but with an incredibly rich salty note; I even feel it leaves a salty hint on my tongue, very interesting. It’s not versatile, more for hot weather. It will transport you to the beach. Just be prepared to pump the trigger hard to make it noticeable.

It’s Montblanc’s latest ‘marine’ release. If you love the blueish Acqua di Giò Profondo, Azzaro Chrome Extreme, or Issey’s L’Eau Majeure, you’ll dig this. It smells like a humid, blue ocean, but it doesn’t last or project as much as the ones I mentioned; max 4-5 hours, just enough to be present. With Montblanc, that’s the usual story; they tend to be weak. Watch out, test before buying, never buy blind if you don’t know the drill. It’s not a niche beast like OP’s Megamare, nor is it an easy, populist scent everyone likes (some smell wet, dirty beach towels or gross sweat). It has a salty hint with an algae bitterness, and on my skin, projection and sillage are short. It’s versatile, almost unisex, but I see it more on men 25 and up, in fresh autumn-spring-summer weather. There are better options for extreme cold or heat. Price and availability are awesome in Spain, lucky that Montblanc hasn’t jumped on the designer price hike bandwagon yet.

I love it. I heard hundreds of negative reviews calling it boring or flat, but I decided to ignore them and try it. It’s fresh, clean, with a spicy pepper kick that gives it a more ‘mature’ vibe; it fills you with energy and vitality. The downside is that projection, sillage, and skin longevity are weak, though it lasts much longer on clothes. To get 8 hours at the office, you have to abuse the trigger a bit, about 7 sprays.

I love this fragrance; it’s not the most durable or projecting, but it smells great and is noticeable on my skin all day at work. It’s a perfect, quality balance: it follows the declared notes but keeps everything very subtle, citrusy-fruity/aquatic/spicy at the start and soft woods/amber at the base. It doesn’t evolve much, but that’s good because the scent is rich. I’m surprised that when it seems to fade, it suddenly throws out bursts and comes back. Over time, I feel it smells stronger and lasts longer, though it remains subtle. Ideal for spring-summer and maybe autumn; excellent for office, casual, or formal wear. I use 10 to 15 sprays on body and clothes and it works well. I recommend it mainly for the price; I got the 100ml for $30.

I don’t know if it’s the pink pepper that makes it feel blue, but it’s super versatile, ideal for a suit or a walk by the coast. For the price, it’s not bad; it fulfills the role of a blue fragrance: it’s not annoying, though maybe it won’t please as much as others in its style.

It’s not very versatile, but it smells different from the others; I feel it’s more elegant. It lasts forever, and if you spray it on clothes, the scent stays until you wash them.

Simple and linear fragrance, but with a brutal impact. Creamy texture, woody, with an oriental touch (maybe patchouli) and a bit of sea breeze. It inspires respect, but also a certain pose; it’s hard to explain. Very 80s sophisticated style. I imagine it on a man with a high socio-economic status who likes to show it off, or perhaps a woman with character. It doesn’t leave people indifferent; it smells exactly what it smells like. I liked it, but I wouldn’t buy it; it doesn’t seem wearable enough, more for the office. Outside of that, it can feel out of context depending on who and how you wear it.

MontBlanc Explorer Ultra Blue: Marine, fresh, and different. There are many fresh or marine options for summer, but Montblanc has that exotic fruit note that few have. However, its disadvantages are clear: it’s a ‘decaffeinated’ version of Platinum and the original, and it always lives in the shadow of being an affordable clone of Aventus. Another big drawback is its longevity: in my case, it projected for an hour and then three more hours close to the skin. It’s not bad, but it’s limited to shining on summer days or vacations.

A blue for a country day, perfect for going with your girlfriend to eat paella or Italian, with a white shirt and dress pants. It’s elegant and sober: opens citrusy, moves to a very elegant amber, and you can feel the quality of the notes, settling into woodiness. It’s for those who like Miyake or Creed, fresh things. It doesn’t fail, buy blind. It’s an all-rounder. You’ll like it. Duration about 6 hours, moderate to intimate sillage.

One of the latest additions to the collection. I had heard terrible comments, but it worked great on me. Versatile aroma, nothing groundbreaking but fulfilling. It held up for 8 hours without issues, with a lovely sillage during the first two. Blue-floral aroma, I liked it.

Starts with Marina, but once it dries down it’s just sweet. So delicious! On clothes it lasts over 24 hours; the first time I wore it, it lasted days and people kept asking what smelled so good. Worth it for the price for about ten sprays.

It doesn’t bring anything new, but I absolutely love it. Super versatile and easy to wear, perfect for daytime, spring, and summer. Very pleasant. Lucky me that it lasts more than 8 hours on my skin. I recommend it if you’re looking for something versatile that smells great.

Montblanc Explorer Ultra Blue (2021): Jordi Fernández, Olivier Pescheux, and Antoine Maisondieu. I’ve worn it twice in different situations and it’s a letdown: boring, no evolution, and zero longevity or sillage. The previous reviews were right; it’s a ghost fragrance. Simply disappointing: don’t buy it.

I gave it to my husband for daily wear and we both loved it. Smells like a freshly showered man, even in summer. The bergamot opens strong and then yields to a fresh marine note with a woody base. He’s worn it to bed without it being intrusive; on the first day, people hit on me. Could be youthful.

Starts with a smothering pepper and mint; I don’t detect the bergamot or the fruity/aquatic notes, and it ends herbal with that synthetic ambroxan that my wife hates. It doesn’t seem like Invictus, but as soon as I sprayed it, it reminded me of it. DO NOT recommend buying it blind! There are better similar options at a lower price. Test it first.

What a marvel. I had to wait several occasions to use it. The regular MB Explorer has a very sharp citrus opening. Don’t get fooled by the packaging color; it’s not from the blue family like Dylan Blue, Sauvage, or Blue. It’s well-crafted, not linear, and lasts a long time.

It joins the blue fragrances. I haven’t tried the original Explorer, but from what I’ve read, it’s quite different. Low projection, moderate sillage, and 4-5 hours in the heat. It’s fresh but lacks personality, with a well-defined citrus-marine accord. The ‘Ultra Blue’ in the name doesn’t do the product justice.

  28. Great noses for a fruity aroma with marine hints. A sort of modern Cool Water; at least that’s what I felt during the test. The dry down is woody with a faint patchouli and a touch of ambroxan. That’s all, folks.
