A spicy oud, I felt like I already knew this scent but in something renewed, and yes, it’s the Sheik by Lattafa that’s already in my collection.
This one is much easier than Terroni and, in my personal taste, much richer and more elegant; the woody base isn’t as aggressive as Terroni. The price is also much more interesting at Montblanc since you can get it for 100€ per 125 ml. You should try it if you like Terroni or Black Afghan.
For me, Star Oud has been the first perfume where a stranger had the courage to ask what perfume it was (because it smells so good and different). A very refined oud, not aggressive at all, but at the same time very masculine in my view; I don’t share the opinion that it’s more of a unisex perfume, because even though it becomes sweet thanks to the cinnamon and that amber touch, as time goes by it stays very woody and with some spicy touches that I think wouldn’t work on a woman. As always, everything is subjective, and as they say, there’s no accounting for taste — or smell. 🙂
A domesticated oud, disguised as luxury, but soulless. Star Oud by Montblanc opens promising mystery: a woody-smoky accord that borders on intensity. But it soon collapses into a plasticized sweetness, an imitation of nobility that never reaches royal blood. It’s like a cheap suit with a designer label: correct, wearable, but hollow. There’s no animal roar or oriental shadows; barely a warm murmur, designed not to bother anyone. If you’re looking for a fierce oud, keep walking. Here you’ll only find a diluted echo, a mirage of greatness.
Today I had the chance to smell Montblanc’s private collection, and out of all the fragrances, this one is definitely my favorite. It’s a pleasant scent with a very sophisticated oud, nothing loud, with tremendous sweetness from the cinnamon and cardamom. Even though it’s sweet and has oud, it’s not very loud or cloying. I might even recommend it for a spring day when it’s not too hot. Perfect for evenings in every season except summer because of the humid atmosphere it usually has. If you like sweet scents (not necessarily leaning gourmand), I could recommend it as a blind buy.

Today I got to smell the Montblanc Private Collection, and without a doubt, this is my favorite. It’s a pleasant fragrance with a very sophisticated oud, nothing scandalous, with tremendous sweetness from the cinnamon and cardamom. Despite being sweet, it’s not overwhelming or annoying; I’d probably recommend it for a spring day without much heat. Perfect for nights year-round except summer due to the humidity. If you like sweet scents (without being gourmand), I recommend it blindly.
