Descripción

The One for Men Eau de Parfum by Dolce&Gabbana is a woody-spicy fragrance for men. Launched in 2015, this olfactory composition was created by Olivier Polge. Upon opening, the scent reveals grapefruit, coriander, and basil; the heart unfolds with cardamom, ginger, and orange blossom; while the base settles on amber, tobacco, and cedar.

  • Simply SPECTACULAR, it doesn’t matter what the longevity or projection is because the scent is unique. I recommend buying blind 200%.

  • The scent is incredible. Its longevity and projection are terrible… some people say they don’t care about longevity and projection, but I feel that if I pay 7 euros or more, it should at least have some quality and lasting power, since it’s been proven that other brands create perfumes that are just as good or better at a lower price.

The One, a fragrance with an exquisite, uncommon scent. Honestly, when I bought it based on reviews, I thought it would just be another addition to my collection just for owning it; I was surprised, and for the better. It’s a sweet perfume, but actually, I don’t see that sweetness as overpowering since it blends with the citrus and floral notes it carries; upon drying down, it feels more citrusy, but with that underlying amber giving it some extravagant touches. I have no words to describe it, simply rich, sweet, tobacco, and uncommon. Imagine sitting by a fireplace with your family, enjoying the warmth and the sweet smell of burning marshmallows alongside a woody, tobacco aroma that isn’t heavy. Without a doubt, it’s a blind buy regarding the scent. I recommend it for dates, places, and situations where partner closeness is prioritized, where contact is more intimate, since its projection is very poor, even right after application it’s almost skin-level. Its longevity is decent, but not for a sweet perfume, which usually lasts longer; this is the exception. Rich perfume, uncommon, warm. That’s all, I recommend buying it, though I’d look for other options if it’s your first perfume for special occasions due to its performance. Nothing more to add, delicious.

The One Eau de Parfum. The #1 for dates. As its name suggests ‘The One’, it lives up to its title. The dry-down is one of the best I’ve ever heard. It’s a fragrance with two major facets: amber and tobacco. This version is a flanker of the EDT (2008) and does exactly what an Eau de Parfum should: take the DNA of the EDT and make it more concentrated, intense, and dark. This perfume was made exclusively for intimate encounters, romantic dates; it gives you a boost of sensuality, security, and confidence, and works well with serious, elegant attire due to its density. It’s a fragrance selling us on very few things: elevating the cardamomo, lots of cedar, more woody, but do you know what’s stronger than wood? THE TOBACCO. The tobacco here is more potent along with the amber accords. It’s a version for nighttime use, since it was made for dates, which is scientifically proven. It’s not for parties, clubs, or places to grab attention; unfortunately, the D&G The One line isn’t designed to grab attention, barely even the Intense (due to the iris accord, but almost no one notices it). I see comments saying it DOESN’T LAST, DOESN’T PROJECT enough, but I can assure you it’s both a YES and a NO, viewed from another angle: the intended use is for a date. You don’t want to project too much; on a date, you don’t want the scent to last years. It’s for the occasion, ONE DATE. It’s not normal to have a date lasting 12 hours; it’s unpleasant to have a perfume that projects so much that you fill the room; the girl you’re with would get tired or repulsed, and she wouldn’t even want to get close because she can smell you from afar… imagine her saying ‘oh, there’s (your name), I can already smell you, why should I approach if I can smell you from here’?… what a horror! This fragrance is designed to INVITE the other person to come closer and smell you. If it projected too much, it wouldn’t be for dates… this fragrance is for romantic situations where people get close to smell you, to give compliments; they’ll want to be near because you’ll be ‘THE ONE’. Longevity: 6 sprays are more than enough for your date (mind you, average dates are about 5 hours). Conclusion: A work of art, ideal for dates, very nocturnal, only for close encounters. This perfume must be in your top list. Blind buy 95% guaranteed. My batch is from 2024.

This is undoubtedly the best flanker of The One (and probably the best D&G perfume overall). Subtle yet addictive. I’ve read several reviews complaining about the projection, but in my opinion, having a small bubble and an almost non-existent sillage works in its favor; very few fragrances manage to make people approach just to smell you. 10/10.

  • SinLimites

It’s a particular fragrance; honestly, I bought it on recommendation and didn’t like it at first. It took me a while to get used to it. I wouldn’t buy it again, though that doesn’t take away from its quality. I’d recommend it to people over 35-40. 7/10.

  • A textbook amber, a must-have for cardamomo and warm spice lovers (which is why I bought it). My batch is from 2017, and you can tell from the maturation and ingredient quality. Ideal for dates? Yes, it’s a sexy scent that almost all women like. Its low projection invites closeness. Obviously, there are better options, but for a small collection (<10 perfumes), this would be ideal for dates. Reminds me of Franck Boclet's Tobacco due to the plum note (which isn't here, but the sweetness is similar). Perfect fragrance. Everything has already been said about the aroma. It doesn’t need more projection or sillage; it’s not for a club. It’s a fabulous scent, sweet but not cloying, subtle enough to draw people in rather than blasting them. If it were the opposite, it would lose elegance and become heavy and vulgar. On dry skin, it lasts a solid 10+ hours; on clothes, 24. I don’t get why people say it doesn’t last; it’s true that the projection is low, max 2 hours in cold weather, with a close, low sillage. If it doesn’t last for you, my sacred advice: 1) only apply after showering; 2) dry off completely; 3) use unscented moisturizer and wait for absorption before applying the perfume. Everyone improves this way. You just have to know how to apply it. Not everything needs to last hours or project strongly; there are other perfumes for that. Ideal for fresh autumn, cool spring, and mild winter.

  • Romantic, gentlemanly, seductive, and tender all at once. Masculine but not alpha-male; I absolutely love the scent.

  • Smells amazing; the tobacco and ginger come across with real class and charm. I’ve received several indirect compliments. It’s a safe bet for a first date if you want to project an experienced vibe. Although, being younger, it’s not my style right now haha, I plan to use it in the future because it radiates a mature and seductive aura. Perfect for people over 30 who have stories to tell. I’d rate it a 7.7/10.

  • First impression after testing it in the perfumery, not an in-depth review yet: rich, elegant, masculine, very seductive and timeless. It evokes a clean, elegant, and confident man. I don’t see this for parties, but rather for a date at a restaurant, for example. For men over 30 who dress to kill. Given its semi-sweet character, I’d wear it in cool temperatures. I can’t speak to longevity yet; I need to wear it more. I like it.

  • Stupid perfume, all beautiful, I love it. Rich and perfect for cold weather, good performance for what this perfume needs. I’m in love with it. Very masculine, unlike many that seem unisex and overly sweet.

  • Juanpablosegundo

Great scent. But due to its longevity and projection, it’s a scam. You have to dive into the bottle to smell it. I wouldn’t buy it again.

  • When looking for a sensual perfume for close encounters and intimacy, the first one that comes to mind is this DG. Refined, sensual, exquisite, a warm aroma that envelops and embraces you, with the magic that makes you want to lean in and smell it again. A slightly floral, clean citrus note accompanies the ambered tobacco. A work of art. The main criticism is its performance, and here I disagree: I believe given its intended use, it shouldn’t be powerful, because then it wouldn’t be sensual. In my case, the longevity is very good, while the trail and projection are low. The important thing is that it stays on the skin for hours so your partner can press against your neck until they satisfy their instincts. An Italian scent with class and style: elegance, sex, and provocation.

  • I’ll do my best to describe it. At first, imagine a grapefruit, but not citrusy or bitter; picture a slice soaked in thick, not liquid, honey. That’s the opening. Over time, it settles into wood, amber, and a very subtle tobacco. The only flaw is longevity and projection: it lasts about 4-5 hours and stays skin-close from the get-go. If it’s a sexy scent, of course. Wear it only if you know you’ll be right next to the other person. I see this more for nightwear in autumn and winter. If you don’t mind the weak longevity and projection and just want the pure scent, buy it blind.

  • This fragrance is one of the best for dates. Maybe if you want to sleep warm without catching a cold. Longevity is questionable: it lasts longer for some, less for others, but for me about 6 hours.

  • It’s impossible not to like it. It’s a sweetness that envelops you and delights anyone who gets close. It’s a safe blind buy; unlike other reviews, I find it has good longevity.

  • I love the smell, it’s too good and has a great price. It doesn’t last long unless you use a lot of sprays. I use it for everything except extreme heat, and it works better for me at night.

  • A direct hug for your nose. To me, The One EdP is a masterpiece by Olivier; a masculine, romantic, and sensual accord that invites closeness. I don’t know how they manage to make them so addictive. It doesn’t project much or last long, but it fulfills its role: it’s for close range and unforgettable nights with that special person. The scent is a sweet pipe tobacco, ambered, with a citrus and spicy kick at the start, something woody and warm. It’s a very huggable softy. 10/10.

  • Josué González Céspedes

Brutal perfume, super sweet but not cloying, with wood notes yet light. It hits the perfect spot and lasts about 10 hours, nothing more.

  • JohnLecter86

I wanted this fragrance for a long time until I finally decided, but it didn’t fully convince me. Women love it, but personally I feel it’s too sweet. I live in a place where low temperatures are a miracle, a tropical climate. The opening feels very sweet to me; from the start, I smell the tobacco (a note I love), the orange blossom, and the amber. If it weren’t for the heat, it would be the perfect combination, so the grapefruit fades almost immediately. The top notes are almost ephemeral. In the base notes, almost from the start, the amber, tobacco, and cedar are very pleasant. Maybe I should give it another chance with more attention and lower temperatures. For now, it will continue to macerate on the shelf. I like it, yes, but I haven’t gotten the most out of it yet.

I bought a couple because I got them for $46 for 100ml. But I have many open perfumes. My friend took care of a Bleu de Chanel and it got damaged; it didn’t hold up well for 7 years even with good care. I went for it solely based on YouTube reviews; everyone says it’s a 10, but often I end up with negative surprises. As soon as I unboxed it, I let people know. I tried the EDT and it wasn’t incredible, just rich but not spectacular. I hope this one leaves me speechless like some Intense versions, for example K Intense and EDP, which are 100 times better than K EDT. I tried it: the scent could be a 10, but it doesn’t enamor me, so I give it a 9 or 9.5… but the performance, projection, and sillage… a 5. It fails the test. Today, with 9 sprays on a sunny day, it was like nothing. Before 5 hours, you almost had to put your nose right up against it in an open, sunny space; the fragrance was a 0. But 15 hours later, on clothes, in a cool, ventilated room… yes, it smells. I recommend applying it to the collarbones, between the neck and under the shirt collar. Sillage 0 and projection 0. I wouldn’t buy it again. Maybe it works in the office, but I lean more towards perfumes like Kenzo Intense.

  • A few days ago I opened this fragrance with high expectations, but I felt disappointed. It smells good but doesn’t project on the skin and has zero sillage. The first time I couldn’t believe that after minutes I felt nothing. Other times I applied a lot and the beautiful scent vanished in minutes; it didn’t last at all. I own several perfumes and this never happened to me before. Is it my pH? I don’t know, I feel disappointed because I paid over $120 at an airport and chose it for autumn-winter. The last night I sprayed it six times, and after minutes I asked my friends if they smelled “something,” and they all hesitated, saying something very faint or nothing.

I usually write bible-worthy reviews, but I’m at a loss for words to describe this amazing fragrance. I don’t understand why it’s so good. I don’t like cardamom or cilantro; warm spices aren’t my style. I never imagined myself surrendering to a perfume that declares basil in the opening, yet it comes out with honeyed citrus, the delicate kindness of its spices, the just-right sweetness of its tobacco and bergamot. That tobacco is, without a doubt, the best I’ve heard in perfumery. A masterfully woven accord, not a single note too many or too few. Palpable evolution and superb dry-down. To me, this is what a perfume should smell like. I adore that it’s Italian, specifically D&G, and I love the bottle. I feel like a victim of its marketing, but it simply clicked with me. Third-party opinions have also triggered better reactions. The high rating, considering the average user on this forum wants everyone to be a jerk, speaks to its universal charm. It’s hard nowadays for a perfume to conquer purely on what it offers to the nose. You read reviews and it’s all: “Spectacular, lasts +85 hours, everyone loves it, my neighbor threw a brick at me because my sillage made her children cry.” You read and never discover what it smells like. This one is close, elegant, perfect, a 10/10. Its life extends just enough for a memorable night. Perfect for cool nights, autumn, even spring. It’s a shame about the price and how hard it is to find in my country, but even if it cost double, I’d buy it again. “Regrettably” for special occasions, but I want to wear it all the time. The best perfume I’ve heard so far.

  • What can I say? It’s one of the scents that captivated me the most in the perfume store, a love at first sniff. It defines me. I met it thanks to my childhood friend, a perfume collector. He was excited about his first designer fragrance and wanted to show it to me with enthusiasm, a special scent that stepped out of his comfort zone, subtle. I tried this version first before the original. Then, when I smelled the EDT, I noticed it was practically the same, but the EDP is much deeper. When I first smelled it, I was obsessed. It has notes that should be challenging, but it achieves the opposite: everything is built on subtle, high-quality nuances. Although it’s complex, it’s a blend of warm, resinous amber with soft, pleasant tobacco. The tobacco adds masculinity, cardamom adds freshness and elevates the elegance. Longevity is good, about eight hours. Don’t expect powerful projection; that’s not its goal. After two hours, it becomes intimate and personal, but tremendously seductive; it invites you to get closer. Sometimes I wonder why it’s not talked about more. Maybe the answer is what most people want: to be noticed immediately. The One EDP wasn’t created for that. It’s a low-profile, conquering, silent scent, designed to convey discreet elegance. It’s my favorite because it represents me. It doesn’t seek to stand out noisily; it seduces from subtlety, with introspective but captivating charm. Dignified, elegant, and low-profile, it conquers without raising its voice.

  • Definitely The One… Sweet aroma, incredibly rich tobacco. It’s the date night perfume; it invites people to get closer and makes the wearer stand out. It’s a first impression, so I can’t speak to longevity and projection yet, though I’m worried based on the comments. P.S.: Why would anyone make such a spectacular fragrance with such terrible longevity and zero projection? 😭😭 I don’t get it. On skin and clothes, it lasts 4 hours but you can’t smell it. You wear it, tell someone to smell you, and they’ll say it’s very faint. You might as well have bathed in it 😭

  • JoseMartin

The One, judging purely by the scent, is by far one of the best in my collection. The opening is powerful—a sweet, fresh, and spicy tobacco that captivates. It’s masculine, warm, and hugging. If it had better longevity and sillage, it would be ideal, but unfortunately, I only perceive it for a couple of hours at most. It works great in cold climates.

  • This is a war crime: killing such a rich fragrance with abysmal longevity. I know it fades fast, but it’s a compliment bomb.

  • LucioGuaymas

Exquisite, charming, and seductive scent. Ideal for intimate encounters like dates. In open spaces, it loses a lot of power, and in my opinion, it’s best suited for enclosed areas. Perfect for cold and nighttime climates. What a real pity that it’s so expensive in Argentina because it’s delicious but not recommended due to the price.

  • Orlandoperfumesman

I just bought the B22603 batch from 2024. It smells just like its EDT sister, though this EDP is heavier. The weird part is that the box no longer mentions tobacco; it only describes Tarocco orange, Clary sage, and sandalwood. For now, it feels very rich at close range. I’ll edit later to rate its performance. Exquisite scent. Edit: After about two months of use, just for those interested. The aroma is undeniably delicious, but with low projection and only 2 hours of longevity, it seems like a rip-off for the price. If you have plenty of other fragrances, go ahead. But if you want something that projects and makes people notice, this isn’t it. It’s very rich but very intimate.

  • A total fragrance bomb. Smells like sweet tobacco, amber, and a bit of chocolate. It’s strictly for winter and cold weather. Perfect for night dates, giving off a mysterious and seductive vibe. It doesn’t have crazy projection; it creates a bubble you can smell if someone approaches, making it great for daily wear or work since it’s not aggressive. Even for a night date, it has that slightly seductive air. The first 4-5 hours have moderate projection, then it fades to skin-level. Regardless, it lasts longer on clothes and lingers; in fact, the scent stayed on my partner’s couch, and they could still smell it after I left. I totally recommend it. It’s not a beast mode, you won’t fill the room, but it has good longevity for someone who doesn’t want to draw attention. It’s a well-made masculine fragrance.

  • For me, it was a next-level fragrance back in 2018. Later, I bought five more (from 2020 to 2024), all 100ml, and honestly, they crushed it; I don’t know what happened to this perfume, the formula must have changed, but I never got the original magic again. The quality dropped massively—when I say massively, I mean MASSIVELY. A real disappointment; I felt it was my go-to scent, and now I’ve completely discarded it. I’m giving an indifferent rating out of respect for what it once was, but clearly, I hate it now due to the contrast with my past good memories. What a shame.

  • It’s an addictive gem, a total fragrance bomb that has me hooked. It’s quite sensual and masculine. I have a 2024 batch that lasts about 6 hours on skin with timid projection, but on clothes it sticks around for over 9 hours. It’s made for night dates and for you and your partner to enjoy together, because yes, it’s too enjoyable. I wish it projected more and lasted longer; unfortunately, I didn’t get to try the early batches, but it’s not designed to be a beast mode; every fragrance has its purpose, and The One EDP’s is to be personal, sensual, and addictive. If you want your woman to be glued to your neck, this is the perfect fragrance.

  • Upon trying it, I loved the fresh and vibrant opening. As I read elsewhere, I knew it would evolve into something deeper. Over time, that tobacco note becomes super prominent; on my skin, it smells like old book pages with coffee, giving it a rough edge that doesn’t quite work for me. If you like tobacco, it’s excellent for low-competition settings. If not, give it a try and let it evolve before deciding. Longevity is good: I sprayed it at 8 PM and still had skin-level traces when I woke up.

  • It’s a very personal and rich scent, to the point that almost no one notices it, sometimes not even you. I’d stick with options like Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male Elixir or Lattafa’s own The Kingdom.

  • Haramosf, watch out: the box lists different notes because what you have is the 2025 version, which is a different fragrance even though it shares the same name. It has its own profile on Fragrantica.

  • I hunted this down based on YouTube top picks and reviews, tried it in-store, and fell in love for real. The scent is wonderful, masculine, and sensual—a 10/10 masterpiece… but the longevity, projection, and sillage are a tragedy, even when applied generously. Just to clarify, it did improve a bit after letting it settle. Curiously, the pyramid on the box doesn’t match the one here: it lists orange, sage, and sandalwood.
