Descripción
Bain De Midi by Maison Matine is an oriental floral fragrance created for men and women. Launched in 2019, this composition was designed by Philippine Courtière. The top notes unfold with vibrant coconut and bergamot; the heart reveals the sensuality of tiare flower, ylang-ylang, and gardenia; while the base settles on a warm combination of vanilla and musk.

That dry sweetness of coconut with tiare flower creates the classic sweet floral perfume evoking sunscreen. It has lovely, natural jasmine sparkles that oxygenate the tiare and coconut. It’s totally summery, like hydrating oils and creams to counteract sun dryness. It’s the perfect alternative for sweet lovers. The winter sweetness is more intense, but this is a summer butterfly thanks to Maison Matine’s ‘sunscreen perfume’ concept.
I’m on the discovery journey with this peculiar brand… I’ve tried several and Bain de Midi has surprised me with relaxation. It unexpectedly transported me to a sun-drenched beach. As the reviewer below says, it’s one of those perfumes that evoke sunscreen but better. I’ll be buying it soon for evoking an ideal summer afternoon. Plus, this house makes things easy: interesting scents, carefully designed bottles, and bargain prices.
Ugh, it gives me stomach trouble. Bain de Midi is the one I like least from Maison Matine. I don’t hate it; I can wear it for a while, but it just doesn’t sit right with me. The opening is a shock: it reminds me of my hated fragrance, Paris by YSL. It’s dizzying, decadent, and dense like old makeup. The evolution is better, but it doesn’t recover. It tries to suggest beach and relaxation, like a blonde family in Ondarreta, but it lowers my serotonin. The coconut is weak, synthetic, like 90s Hawaiian Tropic oil that coats you. There’s no bergamot. Only the mix of tiare and ylang makes it bearable, but that note of Paris is still there. It’s the only ‘no’ in the collection, which is impressive for the brand.
I tried a decant from the set and was surprised by the almost non-existent longevity and projection. The scent is pleasant, but it’s the typical mix of tiare, coconut, and vanilla found in thousands of cheap perfumes. For this style, I prefer Mancera’s Coco Vanille, which lasts much longer. I wouldn’t buy it.
It doesn’t drive me crazy and the reviews confirm it’s well-made; nothing overpowers the others and the floral keeps things fresh. But it crumbles on creaminess. I’d want more ylang-ylang with green notes from the start, not just at the beginning. It’s like a seagull with its feathers matted by sunscreen: it won’t take flight.
I love this profile, but the battery life is short: in Bain de Midi, the delicious coconut and vanilla scent (sunscreen-like) stays close to the skin or lasts only an hour. Great for errands or the pool, but if you’re looking for longevity, I need your advice.
