  • Even if the notes aren’t identical to Baccarat Rouge 540, this smells exactly the same; it’s a dead-on copy compared to all the similar ones I’ve tried, and this one takes the crown.

  • Even though the notes don’t match Baccarat Rouge 540, this smells the same. They’re exact copies of all the ones I’ve heard about that resemble it, and this one takes the crown.

It made me suffer, haha. I bought it during a cyber day with 50% off, but it never arrived. A month later, I ordered it again, at a higher price but still on sale. When it finally showed up, I thought I’d been scammed because it smelled like nothing—just alcohol and a super faint scent. I bought it for its similarity to Baccarat Rouge and because I love that line. I spent the whole day trying to smell anything and told myself, ‘never mind, I’ll use my daily,’ which is Amber Oud Rouge from the same line, and to my surprise… IT ALSO SMELLED LIKE NOTHING! I thought it was weird or that I had COVID, so I pulled out the big gun: the only original Baccarat Rouge I own, and… IT STILL SMELLED LIKE NOTHING! Next to it was Guerlain’s Pera Granita, which I tested out of desperation and smelled perfectly fine. Maybe I’d saturated my nose with Baccarat-style fragrances. Today I tried Red Potion again, and it smells pretty good. It’s very similar to the original, the good parts, without that dentist-like smell that bothers some people. I don’t know if it lasts or has good projection since I just applied it; at first, it seems not too intrusive. Maybe I haven’t recovered my sense of smell yet. The best part is definitely its presentation. I don’t usually keep boxes, I have very few, but I’m keeping this one because I imagine a big part of the price is in the packaging. I’ll give it more time and come back with an update. EDIT: I sold it a few months ago; it didn’t quite convince me. Beautiful fragrance, but not what I was looking for. It’s really not a dupe for Baccarat, but something similar.

This perfume made me suffer, lol. First, I bought it on a cyber day at a great price (about 50% off), but it never arrived. A month later, I bought it again at a slightly higher price, still discounted. When it finally showed up, I thought I’d been scammed because it smelled like nothing—just alcohol and a very, very faint scent. Obviously, I bought it for the famous similarity to Baccarat and because I love all perfumes from that line. After not smelling it all day while trying to detect anything, I told myself, ‘it doesn’t matter anymore, I’ll use my daily scent,’ which is Amber Oud Rouge, also from the same line, and to my surprise… IT ALSO SMELLED LIKE NOTHING! I thought it was weird and maybe I had COVID, so I pulled out my secret weapon: the only true Baccarat Rouge, and IT STILL SMELLED LIKE NOTHING! Right next to it was Guerlain’s Granita de Pera, and in my desperation, I tried that too, and to my surprise, it smelled normal. Maybe I’d just saturated my nose with Baccarat-style fragrances; probably. The thing is, I tried this one, the Red Potion, again today, and it smells pretty good. It’s very similar to what they say, but it’s like the good part of this… there’s no dentist-like smell that some people hate. I don’t know what to say about longevity or sillage since I just applied it. At first, it seems very non-intrusive. Maybe I haven’t recovered my sense of smell yet; I don’t know. The best part is definitely its packaging. I usually don’t keep perfume boxes, I have only a few, but I’m definitely keeping this one because I imagine a big part of the price is for the packaging, haha. I’ll give it more time and come back with an update ;). EDIT: I sold it a few months ago; it didn’t fully convince me. Nice fragrance, but it wasn’t what I was looking for. Really, it’s not a Baccarat dupe, but something similar.

The opening definitely makes you feel like you’ve applied BR540, which, in my opinion, is a privilege, because the latter is a true delight. I’m not saturated with this DNA, because neither have I had the BR540 nor has anyone in my circle; there are many clones, but meh, none have that magical and addictive something of the original. Back to Red Potion, in its dry-down, the myrtle and jasmine are very prominent, becoming quite floral, which the other isn’t: intoxicating, creamy, supremely elegant, embraced by that BR540 base that elevates it to its highest expression. I think it’s a 10/10 composition. Are you tired of BR540? I’m not😌. This one has a special twist of fleshy, hypnotic flowers that gives it a more feminine and bewitching character. The bottle? What am I going to tell you that you haven’t already appreciated? This house is wonderful, and it’s the one with the most bottles in my collection❤️

The opening is pure BR540, a luxury that never gets old; I’ve tried many clones, but none match that addictive magic of the original. In Red Potion, the ivy and honeysuckle dominate the heart, making it floral and intoxicating, creamy, and elegant, all built on that BR540 base that elevates it. My rating: 10/10. Tired of BR540? I’m not. It has a special twist of fleshy, hypnotic flowers that makes it more feminine and bewitching. As for the bottle? You know this house is amazing, and I have countless pieces in my collection.
