  • I was blown away; it exceeded my expectations. Premium quality, like buying a fine, expensive whisky: you pay for something that satisfies your most demanding cravings. It’s not a direct clone, but if you compare it to others, you’ll notice the lineage. It opens fresh and spicy, powerful and pleasant, then evolves and mutates with the weather, almost like wearing three perfumes at once. At first, it smells like Versace Eros; then it becomes a spice bomb reminiscent of YSL L’Homme and Dylan Blue, and the dry-down reminded me of Opium Homme. Fantastic summary! Sillage: 9.5, Longevity: 9.8, Versatility: 9 (better for night). With a heavy application, it lasts over 10 hours and on clothes for days.

  • A spicy fragrance that has truly won me over. It opens fresh and spicy, then warms up over time, highlighting pepper, cardamom, and amber. Honestly, I didn’t expect such quality for the price (€30). It smells of spiced amber that conveys supreme luxury. Three sprays are more than enough for the day. After three hours, the sillage fades, but everyone still notices you’re there. While it’s more of a showstopper for night, it’s not a bad option for autumn, winter, and spring evenings. Another one making my top ten. Mauboussin, alongside Lalique, is a top brand for quality-to-price ratio.

  • A spicy perfume that has won me over. Fresh spicy opening that warms up over time, with pepper, cardamom, and amber taking the lead. Honestly, I didn’t expect such quality for the price (€30). It’s a spicy amber scent that exudes supreme quality and luxury. Three sprays are more than enough for the whole day. After three hours, the sillage fades, but people will still notice you. While it’s geared toward night wear, I don’t see it as a bad option for daytime in fall, winter, and spring evenings. Another perfume making my Top Ten. Definitely, Mauboussin, along with Lalique, is a top brand for quality and price.

  • The profile for this perfume seems wrong; at least the amber is off because it smells like ambergris or ambroxan. In perfumery, amber is an abstract blend that smells like nothing real; it’s an idealization between vanilla and cold. The other, the grey, is a vomit of sperm whale floating in the sea; it feels aromatic, raw, and meaty. This perfume has pure ambroxan, not amber. Private Club is a horrible cologne, a typical ambroxan/bergamot/sticky combo like Sauvage, Versace Eros, and Invictus. At some point, a muddy, sweet, and tar-like tone joins the party, similar to spicy oriental fougères by Miyake for night. Imagine Sauvage mixed with La Nuit de Issey.

  • I think the description for this perfume is off; at least the amber note is redundant because what you smell is actually ambergris, aka ambroxan. In perfumery, ‘amber’ alone is an abstract blend of oriental notes that doesn’t really smell like anything. What we know as amber is an idealization—something that smells between vanilla and cold, between morbid and stony. The other amber, the gris, is vomit a sperm whale expels to purge itself, just like cats with grass; the substance floats in the sea and smells aromatic, raw, and carnal. This perfume has ambroxan or ambergris with a huge dose of ‘dad and very gentlemanly’ vibes, not amber. Private Club is a terrible cologne, the typical ambroxan/bergamot/sticky mess like Sauvage, Versace Eros, and Invictus. At some point, a muddy tone, between sweet and tar-like, kicks in, similar to spicy oriental fougères by Miyake for evening. Imagine Sauvage mixed with La Nuit de Issey.

I neither like nor dislike it. It starts citrusy and spicy with black pepper, moves to cinnamon in the heart, and settles into an amber and patchouli base. It feels like a fairly generic, versatile fragrance with good performance. Perfect for fall, winter, and spring, day or night. Long-lasting sillage and heavy trail.

If there were a mature version of Dylan Blue, it would be this: less sweet, more formal, with less ambroxan and a much better blend that feels less synthetic than Versace’s. Just my two cents.

  • BassoProfumo

It’s a ‘beast mode’ fragrance. Seems like a clone of Carolina Herrera 212 VIP. In my opinion, it’s practically identical, but I find Private Club slightly more refined. It also reminds me of Halloween Man. The truth is, the quality is notable; I was surprised since it’s not a very famous designer brand at least here in Argentina. Very good longevity, presence, and projection.

It’s a ‘bottle boy’ perfume. Smells like a clone of Carolina Herrera 212 VIP, but in my opinion, it’s practically identical, though Private Club edges it out in refinement. It also reminds me of Halloween Man. The quality is notable and surprising, especially since it’s not a well-known brand here in Argentina. It has great longevity, presence, and sillage.

  • Gentlemen, go buy it now! It’s a hidden treasure. Maybe it’s not in best mode, but it delivers and saves the day. An exquisite, refined fragrance from start to finish.

Once it dries down, it’s hard to tell it apart from Halloween Man; they’re incredibly similar. It’s not my usual style, but I don’t hate it. Perfect for blind buying and using occasionally.

What an exquisite perfume for men. My husband and I have been using Mauboussin for years, and it delivers on everything. Rich scents, excellent performance, and a fair price; brands with all the hype often charge too much without matching the quality. We highly recommend it! I already picked up Mauboussin My Twist for women—it’s gorgeous and has great projection if you like intense fragrances.

I got it as a gift from my partner. Knowing nothing about the brand, I read reviews and dared to open the box. Result: a very good scent. Citrus and spicy, it smells like a mature and sexy man. It has similarities at the top with a bit of Eros, and the dry-down reminds me of 212 VIP; with a clear nose, it’s very similar to the opening of Boss Bottled. This is good!

My partner gifted this to me without telling me the brand, but as soon as I opened it, wow! What an amazing scent. It’s citrusy and spicy, smelling like a mature, sexy man. At first, it reminds me a bit of EROS, then 212 VIP, and in the dry down, it’s very similar to the opening of BOSS BOTTLE. Totally worth the purchase!
