Alexandra Carlin is a French perfumer who currently works with Symrise, a leading global supplier of fragrances, flavors, and active cosmetic ingredients. She discovered her passion for perfumery at 18 and completed her formal training at the International Institute of Perfumes, Cosmetics, and Aromas (ISIPCA) in Versailles, France, in 2002.
After finishing her studies, Carlin spent three years in Grasse at Robertet, a well-known fragrance company. She then joined Symrise in 2007 as a junior perfumer, and since then has worked with some of the world’s most prestigious brands, including Amouage, Ferrari, and Victoria’s Secret.
Carlin’s approach to perfumery is highly artistic and is inspired by literature and self-expression through movement. She believes that raw materials are rich in meaning and emotions, and she enjoys translating the atmospheres and places described in books into her compositions. Her natural artistic sensibility and her appreciation for movement have also led her to practice horseback riding and Indian dance.
Carlin’s talent and creativity as a perfumer have been recognized with the Center of Luxury and Creation award in 2019. Some of her notable creations include Immortelle Tribal by L’Atelier Givenchy, Red Power by Ferrari, Honour by Amouage, and 8 Every Moment by Abercrombie & Fitch.
