Hidden Fantasy by Britney Spears is a fruity-floral-gourmand fragrance for women. Launched in 2008, this composition was created by perfumer Rodrigo Flores-Roux. The olfactory pyramid unfolds with top notes of orange, tangerine, citron (lemon balm, sweet verbena), and neroli; a heart of sweet spices, clove, lily of the valley, and jasmine; and a base that reveals vanilla, amber, woody notes, and sandalwood.

  • I bought it blind and it was a hit. On my skin, it takes on a sweet orange scent with spices, its longevity is quite good (around 6-7 hours), and the trail is moderate. It seems perfect for a crisp autumn day.

  • I bought it very excited, however, it fell short of expectations. Undoubtedly, it’s a fruity fragrance. It’s sweet and initially smells good, but it gives you the urge to sniff and sniff to find the actual scent because it dissipates very quickly. Barely noticeable on the skin. I like it for putting on and snuggling with my partner; it aromas the moment without bothering the companion, but if you’re someone who likes intense scents, this isn’t the one for you.

  • Nice bottle, like all the brand’s bottles. I liked the perfume. A young girl or an older person (but not too old) could wear it. I’m not sure if I liked it enough to repurchase, and I can’t say it’s a great perfume. Just that I liked it.

I perceive this fragrance as super fruity; literally, I immediately picture an orange. But not just any orange, it’s like a lollipop, specifically the orange Fizz caramel (for those from Argentina, you’ll know what I mean). It’s an acidic, effervescent caramel. On my skin, it’s persistent; it stays on my clothes and hair. Since I’m not much of a fruity person, I’ll gift it to a friend who I know loves fruity scents. Estela: 7/10, longevity: 9/10, scent: 6/10. I like it, but I wouldn’t buy it again 🙂

  • I love most of Britney’s perfumes, but this particular one I just didn’t like. It’s not very sweet; it smells more like fruit. It has a strong orange scent.

  • I love this perfume!! ❤ I find it elegant and sexy at the same time. It lasts hours on me; I applied it this morning before going to university and even when I got home at 6 PM, it was still on my skin. My friends have praised it because it leaves such a rich trail. 100% recommended!

  • I absolutely love this perfume. Perfect for cold winter days! I bought it a month ago and the longevity on my skin is about 7 hours. On clothes, it lasts for days; I put it on a scarf four days ago and I can still smell it. The first sprays reveal sweet orange notes, nothing acidic, just a sweet orange. Over time, the heart notes emerge: in my case, clove mixed with orange, caramel, vanilla, and citron. The dry down is very sweet, not annoying, like a warm hug. Charming. I recommend it 100% and I’m sure I’ll buy it again. Estela 7/10, skin longevity 8/10, on clothes more than 24h, scent 10/10. If you’re a super fan of Britney fragrances, don’t expect it to smell like the original Fantasy; it’s very different. The only thing in common is the caramel and jasmine.

  • I grabbed it blind because I generally love Britney perfumes and they deliver great results for the price. This one feels more citrusy and quite different from the rest of the Fantasy line. I notice a lot of orange, which then transforms and blends with the sweet notes. If you don’t overapply it, it’s very pleasant. Another hit from Britney.

HIDDEN FANTASY: MYSTERIOUS. Launched in 2008 as the third flanker in the line, designed for a more mature audience. It didn’t have much success; at El Corte Inglés, it lasted less than a year before being replaced by Circus Fantasy in 2009. Its original formula was a mystery: you’d smell your wrist over and over, starting with tangerine and clove, very citrusy, and by four hours it would shift to vanilla, lasting quite a while as we were used to from Britney. Unlike the others that came with body soufflés or gels, this was just perfume with little advertising, so it never really reached the public. It was a solid fragrance. I bought it online yesterday for €16 in a 100ml size, something that hasn’t been seen in Spain in over 11 years. The box has changed, the bottle shape was trimmed, and the embossing is different too. The scent is much softer than the original, and as a quirk, the spray nozzle is plastic instead of aluminum. Is it original? Yes, but with the brand’s decline, it doesn’t smell as intense as before, even though it says Made in France. It’s the most hidden fantasy in the range, but today it’s just another remnant of what Britney once was. When this bottle runs out, I won’t buy it again; if I find one with the original formula, that’s a different story, but I’m afraid that won’t happen.

  • Direct trip back to New Year’s Eve 2004, with that Hugo Deep Red or Intense I used back then. The similarity is brutal; it’s a scent I haven’t smelled in years and it caught me off guard in the best way. After trying the original Fantasy (which I gifted away because it was too cloying) and having low hopes, this surprised me with its intensity. On my skin, it’s a beast: I washed my wrists three times and it still projects from a distance. It’s a sweet, dark orange, almost boozy, not acidic except at the very start. The spices give it a masculine, aggressive touch, but the vanilla and florals balance it out. It’s elegant, sophisticated, deep, and nocturnal, worlds away from the innocent, mischievous girl of the original Fantasy. Delicious.

  • Smells masculine; it’s the one I like least in the Fantasy line. Smells like oranges and a guy, haha. Mixed with a vanilla it improves. I’ll keep using it but wouldn’t buy it again.

  • Very rich fragrance, with that vanilla-infused orange note. Reminds me of Armani Code, that style. Nowhere near gourmand like the line, very wearable and exquisite.

  • Gourmandandcherryyy

Hidden Fantasy smells woody and citrusy, with a slight sweetness from the orange. It’s mysterious, deep, and intoxicating.

  • CYNTHIA1980

What a fine scent: citrus, woody, and sweet, but without that candied sweetness of the other Fantasies. It’s balanced, worth a lot, not trendy, smells sensual and beautiful, original. It has sillage and lasts a long time.

  • amatista77

The most mature Fantasy in the line (Fantasy Mum). Sweet citrus and woody, with a fresh and energizing opening full of orange, and a dry-down where sandalwood and amber stand out, becoming serious and adult. I like it a lot, it’s different, and it’s worth it because it differs from the whole collection.

  • Monsedoll85

ETERNAL LOVE to this Britney fragrance. It has everything and would take my top spot without a doubt. From the first moment, instant love; it smells different from my other Fantasies, bringing back memories of 90s dolls. Its citrus, sweet, and warm spicy notes make it unique. It’s sweet like the line but different, super special, and I’m fascinated. 10/10, excellent longevity; if I wear it in the morning, when I get home it smells like I just put it on.

  • rommyluz.p

Excellent. Original and balanced scent. Soft citrus opening, sweet warm orange, fresh lemon verbena, and a herbal touch. The mix of orange, clove, and sweet notes is a delight. Fixation and longevity are 4 to 6 hours. For the price, it’s worth reapplying.

  • Eeveelina

Sorry, but this isn’t perfume, it’s a pharmacy body splash. They recommended it and I bought 100ml, a huge mistake. It smells good but generic, lasts a breath on skin and nothing on clothes. Not what I expected. Reminds me of Nina Ricci Nina. And I hate the plastic cap, I’ll have to gift it away.

  • Total disappointment, my third blind buy failure 🙁 . I only smelled spices, no trace of orange or sweetness. I’m learning to test before buying. It doesn’t hurt too much because of the price, but on an expensive bottle it would be a pain. UPDATE: I used it again today and it smells different; I think the spices were concentrated in the spray. Now it’s sweet and delicious, I’m giving it another chance.

  • Definitely, the Fantasys aren’t my thing; I couldn’t stand the original, and now I tried this one because it was more citrusy, but it didn’t suit me either. It’s not one of those fragrances that makes you fall in love, although it’s not unpleasant either; I just expected more. Poor performance on me.

  • Nothing like Pachá Psicodelic. Hidden Fantasy is citrus to the point of being annoying. It doesn’t smell sweet as claimed; it’s synthetic and clean, like orange with clove and soap.

  • On me, it’s a very autumnal scent, for cold days… and quite creamy. The vanilla, some crisp citrus notes, also stand out. Its opening, I must confess, left me indifferent, but the dry-down was a nasal orgasm, fireworks. Britney perfumes are different and better crafted than many celebrity ones. In my case, I appreciate higher-quality ingredients. Note: its longevity isn’t the eighth wonder, but at that price, I don’t mind reapplying a few hours later. I love it; it’s not invasive and offers moderate sillage. Regarding comparisons, I say it’s nothing like Boss Red or the Orange from this German house. I can’t tolerate those two on my skin after a few hours. However, Hidden Fantasy is something else, much more pleasant and enjoyable. It cost me less than 20 euros (100ml) with shipping included. What more could you ask for in life? Enjoy this magic for lovers of sweet, creamy, vanilla, soft floral scents—with citrus and spicy vibes 😗

  • For me, this perfume reminds me totally of Chupachups; it’s one of my favorite Fantasys. For me, it’s delicious and I love it for any occasion, especially if you want people to notice you because it is definitely attention-grabbing. I highly recommend it to all of you who like to stand out, attract attention, and be divas!

  • Spiced orange. I don’t see it as very citrusy because it’s a warm orange. I like it, but the problem is the longevity, which is very scarce, which is rare coming from the Fantasy line that is generally powerful. I wouldn’t buy it again for that reason.

  • To be honest, I bought it because it cost 300 pesos on Amazon; otherwise, I never would have. Hidden Fantasy opens with a sweet, sparkling orange, like an orange soda (a review on Fragrantica says it smells like Fanta, and yes, that’s the vibe) with a tiny, almost indistinguishable floral touch. It smells good for those first few minutes. After 30 minutes, it evolves into vanilla and orange touching the clove territory. After two hours, maybe, the clove and sandalwood become total protagonists. You can’t smell the vanilla, orange, or flowers anymore. It’s not an unpleasant scent. I feel that if it were in a niche line, many people would praise it. But it’s by Britney, and it’s not what I expected. I had to reapply several times to get its fruity opening and not be left with the almost salty, spiced, and woody aroma. Very unisex. I insist: its price is ridiculous, the bottle is pretty, it’s Britney, bitch. It’s not a super-sweet bomb, but it’s an interesting perfume. Buy at your own risk.

  • From the start, it feels citrusy, but the main thing is the orange, powerful, not sweet, citrus at its peak. I didn’t think it would be so citrusy; usually, Britney’s are sweet gourmands, fruity, or sweet citrus. But this is well citrusy. As it settles, you notice a floral touch that gives it a boost to stay fresh. In the dry-down, it’s slightly sweet, but the orange remains from start to finish. It smells mature; that’s the clove note, I like it a lot; it’s different but I appreciate it. I feel it’s for warm, windy days; it would be great, even on hot nights. Perfect for spring and hot nights too. It feels slightly unisex due to the orange’s power; I love Britney’s versatility and will keep collecting. Moderate longevity and a very aggressive sillage; be careful with sprays; it’s strong and warm. I’d recommend not wearing it in peak summer heat at 40 degrees.

I ordered it as a gift hoping for citrus and sweet notes, thinking it would be like most fantasies: overwhelmingly sweet. I assumed the sweet notes would dominate the woods and amber. Mistake! Although it has citrus, it’s NOTHING fresh. It’s like very spiced orange gummies (from the clove) and wood, very noticeable. Without comparing, there’s something that reminds me of Hypnotic Poison, maybe due to the power; it’s intense, dense, and amber-heavy. To my taste, it lacks vanilla, so I wear it combined with a vanilla perfume, and the scent is gorgeous; I can’t complain. However, if I don’t have that perfume and must wear it alone, it doesn’t attract me, and I don’t want to wear it again. Too unisex and spicy for me, who loves super sweet scents. Still, it’s a good perfume and lasts a ton due to its power, being the most affordable of all the fantasies. Avoid over-applying or it will hurt your head; the clove is intense and lasts through the dry-down. Edit: I wore it alone today, and the clove note was so intense that after 2 hours, I smelled like oranges with chamoy 🙄 (Mexican sweet sauce), and it’s not a scent I’ve loved. Conclusion: If you don’t like spices, you probably won’t like this, and run. 🙌

  • I bought the regular one and this, and gifted the first one. I didn’t like that strange sweet-citrus scent, but this isn’t sweet; sorry to say, it smells fresh. Woods with a slightly sweet, acidic-fruit touch that gives a soap vibe, I love it. The only downside is longevity; after two hours, I can’t smell it, but for $12, it’s fine.

  • I bought it blindly because of the good reviews and… it didn’t hook me. It smells citrusy but weird.

  • I’m a huge fantasy fan, but this one bugs me: the orange and clove dominate and last for hours. Eventually, it gets prickly and smells like Christmas 🤭.

  • Yenvillasmil

This is from the Fantasy line, nothing like the other sweet and sugary flankers. While it is sweet, it’s different; I’d even say it’s unisex. I feel a blast of sweet orange with vanilla, making me think of a mega-sugared Fanta soda and even orange gummies, it’s weird, but it gives me that vibe. In terms of longevity and sillage, quite good in winter (it lasted me about 7 hours with decent sillage). In summer, I don’t recommend it at all; it can be suffocating and fade in less than 3 hours (once I did the test and regretted inventing it). It has good quality, but it’s not the typical girly Britney perfume; if you want something different at a good price (I think it’s around $20), it’s a good option.

  • April_ethereal

Ayyyy, I fell in love with this fantasy. I’m from Chile and I feel it smells like an orange tree when the alcohol evaporates and that orange, clove, sugar, and cinnamon scent remains… it’s delicious.

  • I bought it blindfolded thinking of orange, tangerine, and sweet notes. I thought it would be a sweet citrus experience. But nothing like that; I don’t sense the orange or tangerine, it’s not citrusy, and on my skin it doesn’t last an hour 😔. It was a bad investment; the aroma smells good, even though it wasn’t what I expected, I sense it more for the night and a bit formal. The only downside is that it doesn’t last. It lasts me longer than a body splash 🥱.

  • It smells like orange cookies. Simple, pretty, and warm. I like to wear it on cold mornings or afternoons. For the night, I prefer the Midnight version.

  • This smells like orange Fanta with steroids. I see it more as a summer scent than for Christmas, unlike other comments. It’s a cheerful perfume, without pretensions, for when you need a good mood boost. The vibe is youthful, but I’d wear it without complexes at 45.

  • ari_sweetperfumes

It smells like spiced and warm orange. The sillage is good; my mom tried it and it was noticeable. It reminds me of autumn or Christmas. EDIT: after using it, I’d say it’s all-terrain; it’s perfect in summer and doesn’t overwhelm. As a girl on YouTube said, the opening does remind of freshly poured Fanta. It has gone from not liking it to finding it quite interesting.

  • Jess Jiménez

Hidden Fantasy is fresh, citrusy, and spiced. It’s not one of my favorites, but it works great for the office. It has a citrus opening, but more like grapefruit than orange, a bit bitter, maybe due to the clove. It’s spiced, floral, and woody, but not sweet at all; I don’t sense the vanilla or sweet notes. Good performance, I notice it for hours and it has good sillage. It’s one of the ones my husband always praises; he always says ‘you smell so good…’. Maybe because of that, even though it doesn’t make me crazy, it seems super convenient, even if it’s not outstanding for me.

  • In my case, I didn’t sense anything gourmand. It smells citrusy and super soft. Then the herbal notes and the lily stand out, almost aquatic. It suits me as unisex, but I know it’s my pH; the same happens with CH and some DG like Only One.

  • There are two versions, the Spanish and the American one, and it seems the Spanish is better. Mine smells like alcohol at first, but these citrus notes improve with maceration; wait a couple of months before applying a lot so it lasts. It smells like orange candies with a hint of clove. For me, it’s orange, sweet notes, and clove; I don’t sense anything else. I’ll update in three months. I compared it to Hugo Boss Woman Extreme: Hugo stays citrusy, while this softens with a slightly powdery sweetness. It macerates much more on the skin than on clothes, giving me vibes of Illicit by Jimmy Choo, sweet and floral. It has good sillage and lasts up to 10 hours on my skin, I love it.

  • Yeli parfum

On my skin, it smells like creamy oranges with vanilla and those sour candies they say. Very pretty… the downside is it fades quickly, it evaporates. Still, it’s worth it for the scent and the price.
