Descripción

Gucci Pour Homme II by Gucci is a woody-spicy fragrance for men. Launched in 2007, this olfactory composition was created by perfumer Karine Dubreuil-Sereni. Its top notes of violet leaf and bergamot give way to a heart of black tea, cinnamon, and Jamaican pepper, while the base rests on tobacco leaf, myrrh, musk, and olive.

  • This fragrance brings back memories of my childhood walks through the tobacco factory. It doesn’t smell like burnt smoke, but rather fresh leaves, with that typical and delicious scent. It’s not very potent, but if you apply a bit more, it works perfectly. It’s one of the few fragrances that have made strangers ask for my opinion. I highly recommend it.

  • This perfume marks Tom Ford’s exit from Gucci and Frida Giannini’s entry, when the brand went down the drain again. It rescues what Ford built before Frida insisted on undoing it, turning the brand into something for ‘nice girls’ instead of exclusive. It took an elegant Gucci and made it modern, but without its own style. You have to see the abuse of gold in recent women’s perfumes to realize that not everything that shines is gold. Gucci II is well-made but forgettable: no strength or character, more like a body spray.

  • With Gucci perfumes, that happens, Pabloso: they’re generic and forgettable; the only notable one is Gucci Rush, which is truly ordinary and gives a terrible headache.

I felt a strong opening with black tea and some violet leaves, but no bergamot or bell pepper. Then it evolves into woody notes (olive), myrrh, and tobacco flower. The black tea impression seemed similar to smoky types like Lapsang Souchong. I found it elegant and original, as I didn’t have much contact with tea fragrances. The longevity is as Pharaoh said: it’s solved by applying more product. On me, with over-application, it lasted 7 hours clinging to the skin, with tea, woods, myrrh, and tobacco present. Sillage is soft to moderate. It’s more for intermediate seasons, neither too cold nor too hot.

I felt a strong opening with black tea and some violet, but no bergamot or black pepper. Then it evolves into woody notes (I assume olive), myrrh, and tobacco flower. The black tea impression reminded me of smoky types like lapsang souchong. I found it elegant and original, since I didn’t have much exposure to tea fragrances, neither green nor black. The longevity is as Pharaoh said: it resolves if you apply more product. On me, with an over-application, it lasted 7 hours clinging to the skin, with that tea, woods, myrrh, and tobacco. The trail is soft and moderate. It’s more for intermediate seasons, neither too cold nor too hot.

  • When I bought it, I thought I’d be mobbed on the street 😅 because it’s Gucci, but unfortunately, that didn’t happen. The scent is very good but projects nothing; it lasts long on the skin, surpassing the average, but falls short for others. However, it’s a delicious aroma. At first, I detect violet leaves, then black tea and cinnamon; the tea is the soul, intertwined with myrrh and tobacco. I suppose the olive gives that strange touch and the musk adds a bit of talcum, but only a little. I love it despite the lack of projection; as an intimate perfume, it’s perfect.

  • You can tell the black tea and pepper. Elegant, for winter or autumn, or spring evenings/nights. Still detectable after 3.5 hours, though fainter. Recommended. I bought it 8 years ago and it’s still delicious.

  • Every time I see ‘Pour Homme II’ I feel angry, because I remember how they took away my favorite perfume, the original launch version. I don’t know what went through their minds removing ENVY and Pour Homme… and the rest of them too. It’s worth saving.

  • Undoubtedly, the best designer fragrance containing black tea notes to date. Almost all notes are noticeable: the first hour clearly smells of tobacco, black tea, and myrrh, with a touch of violet leaves. The base lasts 3 or 4 hours, unfortunately not very long, which is its only flaw. Musk and olive are felt in the background, though they vary depending on each person’s pH; cinnamon becomes more noticeable at the end. I didn’t detect pepper or bergamot, but something sweet that gives it a rich, cozy, and masculine touch, perhaps it’s the cinnamon. Lasts about 7 hours on the skin. Ideal for casual use or dates. Light and harmless but unique. The best of Gucci after GPH I, recommended for temperate or semi-warm climates. Sillage: 5/10, Projection: 5/10, Longevity: 7/10, Scent: 10/10, Versatility: 9/10, Quality: 9/10. Total: 9.5/10.

I bought it despite the negative reviews; I was at Las Villas perfumery in Valencia looking for Yves L’Homme, but this fragrance captivated me from the start. It’s one of my favorites, I use it almost every day for work. Super soft, moderate sillage, and good longevity: I put it on at 7:30 am and it’s still detectable at 5 pm without having to press my nose to my arm. My favorite along with Nuit de L’Homme. Highly recommended, pleasant and non-abusive scent. Excellent pepper and tea. 10/10.

  • I resisted trying it for two years due to prejudice, what a mistake! The elegance and legacy seal of Tom Ford is evident here, reflecting everything Gucci achieved before its new direction. A fragrance that leaves no room for doubt and confirms what others without prejudice thought. Gucci Pour Homme II, excellent.

  • Subtle and original fragrance with a black tea and cinnamon scent reminiscent of black San Francisco tea. Sweet and sensual, perfect for transitional seasons; it fades in extreme cold or heat. Projection is very faint, but it lasts about 8 hours on the skin. Ideal for the office or class: discreet, comfortable, and with such an original scent that everyone will love it if they get close enough to smell it.

  • A fragrance that hypnotizes, very original scent, subtle, fragile. I could say that if you want to make a good impression of a person with a secure and calm character, this is your perfume, since its black tea note reinforces the message of elegance and sobriety you want to convey.

  • I understand the complaints about this perfume, whether due to historical reasons or performance, since its projection is very low. Maybe it’s a contradiction on my part? Maybe I like powerful perfumes, and even the tobacco note kills me… But what makes me like it is its originality, its excellent balance among all the notes, plus leaving a kind of neat and classy ‘aura’. Sillage is moderate to low for 2 hours, then skin scent. Duration is approx. 7 hours. It makes it excellent for an intimate date or in environments where subtlety is required (like a clinical setting, for example). Maybe you have to leave prejudices aside and give it some time to try.

First things first: I hope the comparison to Dior Fahrenheit is a joke, they are two opposite paths. The fragrance is pleasant, nothing offensive, unique, and even unisex; I won’t go into much detail describing it since its poor performance didn’t allow me to appreciate it 100%. It’s definitely for those who like very discreet fragrances and who are attracted to wearing more than one different fragrance on the same day. It lasted no more than an hour on my skin with projection only for the first 20 minutes. Jorge Elizalde, Veracruz, Mexico.

  • Incredible perfume, I didn’t expect it to be so pleasant. Undoubtedly good quality in its components. An incredible black tea opening perfectly combined with cinnamon, followed by a pleasant mix of violet leaves and bell pepper; I felt the tobacco leaves a bit sweet. I love it, I feel like autumn in a bottle. Besides, the bottle is incredible. Low longevity but worth it, solved with an over-application.

  • Gucci Pour Homme II has been the most elegant fragrance I’ve ever owned. The opening had a bright violet (I bet there was a flower along with the leaves). I swear there was some lavender accompanying a sharp but not piercing citrus. Nothing aggressive. It was a fresh caress, a frank and smiling greeting from someone happy to see you, without any fuss. After the handshake came a warm, fraternal hug, from a brother who, after not seeing you for a long time, wraps you in his strong arms without squeezing too tight, moved but restrained, a mix of melancholy and silent joy. A velvety tea with a sweet, amber base and the dry, raw touch of tobacco wraps around you, without a huge sillage, but transmitting peace. A spicy accord gives it modernity: similar to a soft pepper, but it must be the pepper; I don’t remember the aroma, but the sensation. There are woods (the page points to olive) and a bed of musk that avoids being astringent, no hair lacquer, a velvet softness, like a family member’s cheek brushing your neck, slowly pulling away while looking into your eyes and holding your hands, in silence, gently conveying all their love. The thick glass bottle was incredibly heavy, and the golden wooden cap was almost as big as the glass itself. A design jewel, as elegant as its contents. Some say its predecessor was the last great perfume of the brand’s golden era. What’s clear is that Pour Homme II doesn’t fit in or have anything to do with what Gucci sells today pretending to be perfumes.

What can I say about this gem? It has a unique scent, with few notes, it’s very long-lasting, and quite refreshing. Sweet cinnamon combined with tea and pepper—magic happens! Gucci Pour Homme II is more than a perfume; it smells and feels clean, something I can’t stop saying: it’s nothing youthful, rather for 28 years or older. It suits everyone, is pleasant, sensual, cheerful, and sexy. What else can I tell you?

  • A blind buy… the luckiest one I’ve ever made! Beautiful scent and bottle, elegant, versatile, and long-lasting. The projection is just right, but that discretion is part of its elegance. Every time I wear it, I discover new nuances; at first, it seemed linear, but it evolves subtly without being loud. The smell is charming, discreet, and suggestive. Very well made. In one word: special. You can still find it around a reasonable price.

  • BassoProfumo

I’m a bit surprised. After trying it several times, I confirm that with this perfume I get much greater longevity than with others that claim to be ‘long-lasting’ on Fragrantica. The scent is excellent, 100% the opposite of grotesque, refined, super masculine, fresh with tobacco and a hint of spice. It gives the impression of being a fragrance you’re unlikely to get bored of. 10 points.

  • What am I missing? I’ve always asked myself this about this fragrance, doubting whether to buy it. Everyone talks about its elegance and subtlety. Plus, they say it smells like black tea; how does that translate in a perfume? Since it was discontinued and I couldn’t try it, and despite not being a fan of blind buys, I decided to go for it. Curiosity got the better of me. I had my expectations through the roof. I have to admit, at first, it disappointed me a bit; I didn’t smell anything, just a strange mix of spicy notes I didn’t like, reminding me of the opening of Spicebomb. Was this Gucci Pour Homme II? Where’s the tea, the cinnamon, the elegance? I’d had a stressful day and thought I wasn’t in the right headspace. I wanted to like it, but that wasn’t the moment. Since then, I’ve worn it a couple more times more calmly, and now I finally get it. It’s very relaxing, far from stress. For me, it’s sophisticated, elegant, perhaps mature. Now I can smell the tea, the cinnamon, and the spices; I confess it’s one of the most natural scents I’ve tried. It doesn’t smell synthetic or cloying; it’s very natural. Maybe that naturalness is what I didn’t love at first, being used to synthetic fragrances, I thought: this doesn’t smell like cologne. In short, I’m starting to understand it, and although I like it a lot, I don’t fully value it yet; I will in the future when I’ve tested it more. For now, I know there’s still much to discover. The bottle is a delight.

  • pedjalazaro

I love it. It starts with violet and a citrus touch, giving way to a lovely black tea with cinnamon, over a smoky tobacco base and resinous myrrh notes. It’s a spicy, slightly sweet fragrance that’s very pleasant and everyone will like it. I see it as super versatile. Performance is average. Ideal for spring, summer, and autumn, both day and night. Longevity and sillage are moderate.

  • First impression: I’d been dying to try this fragrance; its elegant bottle caught my eye, and being from the Gucci house interested me even more. I wanted it, but there was no way to test it before buying blind. The high price also didn’t make it very accessible. I visited a perfumery where I now work; they had it and also a ‘tester’. I tried it a couple of times, but it didn’t convince me—I think the tester was very old and the fragrance had lost its essence. Recently, one of the two remaining bottles was sold, so I decided to buy the last one. Yesterday, my coworkers gifted it to me. I’ve tried it a bit today, and it’s a fragrance with a somewhat unusual composition. To me, it smells like grass and earth. What I do see is that it’s not an aggressive or invasive fragrance that impacts your senses to the point of being unpleasant. I think in its dry down, you can already feel that black tea and spices; as an Eau de Toilette, it clings to the skin leaving a resinous trail, which I understand must be myrrh, and I feel it deep down, giving balance and life to the fragrance. Overall, I like it. I’ll share more impressions after using it several times in the coming days.

  • Homeostasis

Just bought this perfume at a local drugstore, incredulous, I went for it at a laughable price. It’s spectacular what it conveys—a sense of freshness and elegance with distinct touches of cinnamon and black tea, without a doubt a true gem. What a pity it’s so hard to find; I’d buy three more bottles. Impressive.

GUCCI POUR HOMME II: Definitely one of this house’s gems, sadly discontinued. A classic Italian aroma, a classy freshness that isn’t relaxing or calming; rather, it’s a refined and majestic freshness. Part of the house’s last great creations. I can’t explain how they pulled two of their masterpieces from the market, Gucci Pour Homme I and II. If you find it, it’s probably at very high prices that don’t justify the purchase; I think a fair price should be max $100, though I’ve seen it between $200 and $400, which is an absolute rip-off. Scent: 9.0. Projection: 2 hours. Longevity: 6 hours. Recommended.

Gucci Pour Homme II: Definitely a house jewel that’s unfortunately no longer available. It’s a classy, fresh Italian classic that doesn’t aim for relaxation or peace, but rather a refined and majestic aura. It belongs to the brand’s last great creations. I don’t understand how they pulled two of their masterpieces, I and II, from the market. If you manage to grab it, it will surely be pricey, and the cost doesn’t justify the purchase; I think a fair price would be around $100, though I’ve seen it between $200 and $400, which is a brutal rip-off. Scent: 9.0. Projection: 2 hours. Longevity: 6 hours. Recommended.

  • I bought it completely blind, knowing nothing about it. I saw it in a store, checked the notes, and picked it up. No regrets whatsoever—it’s an absolute beast, super versatile, and smells great on everyone. To my surprise, it’s discontinued, but if you find it, grab it without thinking twice.

  • SantEternity

I’d been looking for this for ages and couldn’t find it. Finally ordered a 10ml decant from Decanty.com and damn… they had it! Maximum Italian elegance. It’s a modern, elegant fragrance blending fresh and spicy notes with a woody base. The citrusy, spicy opening of bergamot and violet leaves captivates from the first moment. In the heart, black tea, cinnamon, and cedar add depth and sophistication. Ideal for men seeking a refined and versatile aroma. Gucci Pour Homme II leaves a seductive, lasting trail that you can’t miss.

  • German Luis

Reminds me of Azzaro Visiter, but without the pepper dominating and with a woody base. Excellent fragrance.

  • Evidemment

I tried it at Sephora in 2008 and was instantly hooked. I’ve been wearing it ever since, and it never fails to surprise me.

  • AnthonyClassDJ

One of the best perfumes in history! I don’t get why they pulled it from the market… at least Fomo made a decent dupe.
