  I’m seeing people on Fragrantica complaining about their sense of smell again, thanks to those YouTubers who won’t shut up. Oriental Opulence is brutal: it has three clear facets—spices, tea/oud, and a dry, metallic, withered rose. The spices hit sharp and slightly sweaty at first; the rose is bright, almost shrill, but it holds back and doesn’t slip into tamarind-like vulgarity (unlike Toy Boy). It projects strongly without overpowering the other notes. The tea and oud are inoffensive on their own, like a red tea infusion with a mineral, dry wood touch, but together they’re magnificent. They dry down to warm amber and patchouli with leather nuances. It’s potent and overwhelming if you don’t dose it, but with good performance and nothing like the disaster some claim, it’s a great fragrance for fans of these accords. Ganymede 🤦♂️
