I haven’t been able to find another bottle of the original version; it seems the earth has swallowed them all. Online, they show you a picture of the original but then send you this one. I’m saying this because that’s exactly what happened to me, even though I called to confirm. This one, as I mentioned in another review, is very similar to the original but not as strong or deep as claimed here; when you have no bread, cakes are good enough. I think this version falls short on days as cold as today, perhaps it would work much better in spring. For those who found Addict too much, I think this will work great for them, a pity they included mandarin; if they had used lemon, it might have reminded me more of Trouble. In any case, they’re on the same line. On the other hand, I don’t think it contains only these notes; I can perceive tonka bean and something of incense, but very subtly. Edit: Well, I’ve worn the perfume on my wrist for quite a few hours now, and as a long-time consumer of the original Addict, I can say this is practically identical, perhaps with slightly less intensity, which I can’t confirm with certainty on a freezing day like today. The listed notes are certainly not there; maybe they added a bit more mandarin to the top notes, that’s splitting hairs. I think I underestimated it, as often happens with reformulations, but to my nose right now, there’s no difference in the fragrance.
Today is a tropical rainy day in my country… and I wanted to wear this perfume… I applied just a little, and I can say it feels like a very thick, luxurious vanilla, along with soft flower petals and a subtle resinous dry down; it doesn’t overwhelm me, rather the effect is to make me feel sweet, elegant, and distinguished. What this perfume evokes for me is like a delicious black tea with vanilla and a pinch of brown sugar… very stimulating… I love it!!!… I think I’ve already become addicted!!! The best part is that its sillage pleases everyone, young and old; every time I use it, I like it even more!!!
A sweet, sensual, and intensely powerful scent that reminds me of autumn and winter. You won’t go unnoticed when you wear it. As its name suggests, it’s totally addictive, and honestly, no matter how much I’ve searched, I haven’t found another perfume that could replace this masterpiece. Highly recommended for vanilla lovers, though I’d also invite any discerning nose to try it.
The Dior Addict Eau de Parfum feels elegant (like almost all the Dior fragrances I’ve tried) and very interesting in its evolution. At first, I detect a green floral note, probably acacia. Then comes the mandarin, almost immediately, very sparkling and cheerful. After that, the fragrance transforms into something darker, heavier (but in a good way), and sweet: it must be the famous night-blooming cereus. Finally, there’s the vanilla, which, although listed as a base note, I perceive almost from the start, as if it’s wrapping the entire composition. It’s a strong, intense, and elegant vanilla. Longevity and sillage are very good. I think it’s more suitable for winter. It’s not exactly my style, but I admit it’s an excellent perfume.
It’s my essence: sparkling, captivating, persistent, unforgettable, super feminine, and totally in control. It’s a staple in my collection alongside similar scents, but she is THE ONLY ONE. Exclusively for real women. I wear it in winter and summer because, in the end, it’s me, and I’ll always be me.
Intoxicating and addictive.
Very sweet and dizzying lemon.
I adore it. I have to admit, among oriental scents, this is my favorite. I cried when I ran out of Nu by YSL, and this is its youthful version… so, so good.
My mom gave it to me for Mother’s Day. Of course, when giving a gift, you need to know the person well. It’s an exquisite fragrance; if it plays well with your personality, it looks incredible. A magical scent for women of all ages. The trail and longevity are magnificent—maybe the longest-lasting one I’ve ever used. I love it more and more. This new version is gorgeous, sweet, warm, and cozy. Very feminine and sexy. Men notice it and they love it. 100% recommended.
Well… what can you do?… It’s the closest thing I know (for now) to the original Dior Addict, which is undoubtedly better in scent, projection, trail, and especially longevity. This one, in general, is a bit weak; it’s like Dior Addict is hoarse… although in essence, we know that seductive, warm, deep, and melodic voice is there. It bothers me a bit that they replaced the density and olfactory appeal of the berries with mandarin and stripped away the floral power (which, in my opinion, makes it lighter and contradictory to an “Eau de Parfum” version)… even the vanilla is subtler. What saves the day are the night-blooming cereus and tonka bean, which still come through. Overall, I like it (for its resemblance to the original) and might buy a bottle to use occasionally as a substitute for the previous one, which is no longer available.
It’s so rich! It intoxicates the senses and leaves a lasting impression. I absolutely love it and will definitely buy it for winter. You can really smell the Night Queen with vanilla, and on my skin, it turns into a liquor that intoxicates me with pleasure and sensuality.
Exquisitely feminine fragrance. On my skin, the night-blooming cereus and vanilla take over. Unfortunately, I haven’t gotten to try the original version, but I love this one. Good projection and sillage, as befits a Dior.
Night-blooming cereus and vanilla wonderfully padded with tonka bean. Absolutely unisex in my opinion. On me, the longevity and projection are beastly. I’ve heard they reformulated it; I hope they keep these qualities. I’ve never smelled a night-blooming cereus as prominent as in this one. Every time I use it, I close my eyes and immerse myself in a warm summer night in my backyard, when I had that plant and its flowers were intoxicating every night… A pleasure of memories. Luckily, I still have almost a full bottle of the 2012 version.
Incredible. It’s the scent I always wanted a woman to have. It literally makes men addicted. 10/10.
A great perfume; I love it. The night-blooming cereus and vanilla make a sublime combination. It lasts for hours and hours, it’s sensual and addictive. Perfect for women with personality and confidence.
A charming scent. I’ve tried it several times and never bought it; I don’t know why. I’m going to buy it as soon as possible!
Rich as hell and I’m already running out of words; it’s fabulous. Sweet and sensual, it starts with cinnamon blending into vanilla. It lingers on the skin for hours and is totally addictive.
Excellent perfume; the vanilla is very noticeable and it lasts forever, sticking to the skin and clothes for hours. I smelled the original Addict and honestly prefer this one. It’s super delicious and worth the price. Mine is finished, and as soon as I can, I’ll buy it again.
Intoxically toxic, addictive, and sensual. An exquisite smoky vanilla wraps everything up with beastly longevity that transports you to a mystical East. One of my absolute favorites, super unisex. It evokes a distant temple with thousands of sweet and spiced incense sticks. Had to be from Dior, with all its weight and legacy.
Arrived in a day and a half and I’m still smelling custard. If you like vanilla, this is your perfume; I don’t care if it ruins that sweet vibe.
It’s a very rich perfume, I like to wear it from time to time but it’s not my personal perfume. The good thing is that it fixes a lot; the scent lasts for hours and even on clothes after washing.
This perfume is truly addictive, it lives up to its name. I’m surprised voters didn’t give more points to the orange blossom, as it’s very noticeable to me. Definitely the base is vanilla and what delicious! Very potent, dark, dense, and interesting. It lasts a long time and is clearly a night perfume, for cold weather or a very special event. I use it whenever I feel like it, but you have to be careful when applying it.
The blend of tonka and vanilla is delicious. If you add to that the quality reflected in the longevity and the trail… ❤️
After reading many very good reviews and having it recommended to me so much, I bought it and couldn’t stand it. I used it one day and gifted it to a friend. It felt like a very strong and heavy vanilla that wouldn’t stop smelling and bothered me.
Reformulated! The magic of before is gone; I don’t know if you know the old Addict, the one with the gold atomizer. That was the good one, the one that drove us crazy, it had magic and only that one was called Addict, living up to the name because after smelling it you couldn’t let go. The current one… well, it tries to simulate the previous one, but it doesn’t succeed, in my opinion. The longevity has dropped to 4-5 hours and the trail is ridiculous, not comparable to the old one. This is just a memory, a terrible memory. Lately I see that big houses only know how to make perfumes worse, but they don’t lower prices, nooo, they keep them the same or raise them… I’m sorry.
Incredible scent. Dior rarely disappoints me. To me, it smells very much like jasmine, I repeat, the scent is irrepeatable, very majestic. Gorgeous bottle, simple but with personality. A scent I think won’t go out of style for many years. Thanks, Dior.
I tried it today at a department store after reading and hearing wonders about this perfume… I did like it, but it’s not my style. It’s too strong at first and then leaves a rich, lasting trail. I wouldn’t buy it, repeat: I like it, but only about 80%… Greetings to all perfume enthusiasts.
I didn’t like it; it has a vintage aroma that doesn’t suit me, like the first Opium or Shalimar by Guerlain. I also didn’t find it very heavy or long-lasting, so I wouldn’t buy it.
What a sad story with this perfume. I first smelled it about 10 or 12 years ago and it was love at first sight. Back then, a student, freshly graduated, with my first job dreaming of a house and a car, it was expensive and headed my wishlist for years, waiting to buy it without failing at something more important. Now I have it, the reformulated version—what did they do to my old love? It’s sad I never got the original; what I have now isn’t the same, it’s more diluted and bland. It smells nice, but it’s so fleeting, almost skin-scent. I keep it and wear it often, maybe 8 sprays to feel it, just to console my conscience; I couldn’t wait to have it, so it serves as a lesson for many other cases. It’s a white floral, vanilla-scented, with a citrus touch, drying sweet and soft, and it’s not worth the price anymore. What a shame.
Midnight Orchid feels like a dream in a bottle. The midnight blue bottle is gorgeous and mysterious, perfect for that moment. It starts fresh with orange and tangerine, then the queen arrives—rose and vanilla: sensual, nocturnal, and sophisticated, rare these days. The dry down is spectacular, bearing the Dior seal. I love it for summer or spring nights outdoors, or in winter indoors; it lasts a long time and leaves a trail, ideal with blue outfits. I heard they reformulated it and it no longer has the rose or the midnight orchid, what a shame; it surely isn’t the same. I’ll use it sparingly, drop by drop.
I love Christian Dior and all their perfumes, but I can’t say the same about this one; I was greatly disappointed. Disgusting aroma, it reminds me of cemetery flowers. It’s unbearable, I can’t stand it.
How lucky I feel to have this version with Magnificent Night Queen as the star. Tonight the Queen perfumed herself with drops of Orange Blossom Elixir and vanilla and mandarin, carried a bouquet of roses, and wrapped herself in the warmth of tonka bean; her trail smells of sandalwood. How can you not be a Night Queen with these aromatic jewels? Warning: this EDP is only for night queens, seductive, empowered, and overwhelming…
Horrible, I bought it with high hopes. Brutal sillage, brutal longevity. The initial smell is super spicy, like a spice cabinet sealed for 400 years. After a while, it smells like a lady’s wrist with a cloth full of spices.
Fabulous perfume, powerful and lasts forever… I think it’s the Night Queen that makes it so special, one of my favorites.
In my case, it’s nothing but complete white florals without being able to distinguish any particular one, with a few green stems. It’s a very weird scent; sometimes it gave me a funereal sensation… It’s a definite no, plus it lasts only 1-2 hours on very soft skin.
I found intense white flowers and a brutal warmth of cinnamon, even though it doesn’t claim that note. I wouldn’t buy it.
I have to admit I only tried it once. On my skin, it opens citrus and fresh, but after 30 seconds, the tonka bean kicks in and usually kills any other note. This scent dominates everything, though there is a very weak floral base. I’ve heard it on others and it works better, but it’s not for my skin, where the tonka smells like dirty socks—unpleasant. It feels like a feminine battle perfume for cold nights: you put it on and you know exactly what you’re getting. Pleasant: 4/10 Interesting: 2/10 Versatile: 5/10 Original: 5/10
Here, tonka bean and sandalwood rule. It is extremely strong and invasive; you have to use it with great care.
Captivating aroma, an olfactory jewel, it’s in my top 3. I used it a lot; it’s powerful and overwhelming, made for people with character. You walk and you radiate that exotic, narcotic vanilla. A unique, sexy, and bewitching perfume. Everyone asked what it was, they begged for a refill, but I only bought the small bottle. With a little, you last a long time.
Tonka bean and sandalwood overload! Narcotic is the perfect word. It opens up like it aged in a dark corner. Reminds me of rice pudding with cinnamon; it smells like food. Ideal for nights or family gatherings. Also perfect for a flirty lady having tea with pastries in a confectionery on a rainy day. As for me, who prefers brighter scents, I’m sure one of its flankers will win me over.
