  • So many perfumes with coffee notes, and this one actually smells like a super creamy hot cappuccino 😋. It’s well-executed; I can’t imagine how they make something so beautiful ☺️. It’s a pity the opening scent doesn’t last long, but honestly, I love this perfume.

The first thing I smell is lavender, and it lingers for a while. It’s not my favorite scent, but after five minutes, a beautiful coffee and milk note emerges, transitioning into a gourmand that makes me crave a cappuccino, even though the lavender persists. I wish the coffee or tonka bean notes were more prominent. It’s a lovely fragrance that does its job: it reminds me of when I was a student in Florence, drinking my sacred cappuccino before class. That place had a faint lavender scent, so I think they nailed it. Would I buy it? Probably, because it transports me to an experience I’d love to remember more often.

  • Lavender dominates this fragrance from start to finish. It’s accompanied by coffee, tonka, and milk at the beginning; vanilla and cedar in the mid-drydown; and vetiver at the end. At first, the sharpness of the lavender can make it sound masculine, but after 2-3 hours, it becomes more feminine. It’s an aroma that wakes you up, like taking a break for a sugar-free cappuccino. The resemblance to Ariana Grande’s R.E.M is only noticeable in the mid-drydown, around the second hour. I don’t think it’s redundant to own both. Projection and longevity are moderate.

  • Finally got my hands on those 10ml of Coffee Break, the cologne I’ve been collecting for ages. I absolutely love the blend of lavender, milk, vanilla, and coffee. I tested it against others like R.E.M by Ariana Grande or Lavander Milk, and while it’s clearly related to Rochas Man, this Maison Margiela version is distinct. It opens with a sparkling, fresh, and sweet lavender that lacks any medicinal edge. As it settles on the skin, it smells like frothed milk and a cappuccino, dominating that milky sweetness. Then the vanilla and woods kick in, transporting me to drinking a latte outside while smelling the lavender. The trail is moderate and fades after about two hours, reminiscent of Good Girl drying down. It lasts around 5-6 hours. For me, it evokes my dad, who used to go through bottles of Rochas Man when I was a little girl. It reminds me of those cold mornings with the news and coffee to wake up. It’s like me and my dad: same words, different tones. I’m so happy to have it; it does its job: it makes me remember happy things, and that’s what matters most in a perfume.

  • On my skin, the coffee note was extremely weak; I had to put in a lot of effort to detect it with my nose right against the skin, imagining it. What stood out most was the lavender and vanilla. It seemed like a rich scent, but it didn’t evoke thoughts of drinking coffee because that note was very poor. It did seem like a nice and pleasant scent (I do like lavender), even though it wasn’t what I expected. It felt different from the fragrances I know, which I liked, but although nothing similar comes to mind right now, I’m sure there are alternatives. Performance? Very personal sillage and a maximum 6-hour longevity on skin. Conclusion: I still don’t know if I’d buy it because for that price, I’m sure I could find something similar with better performance, but I really like the fragrance.

I have the discovery set, and honestly, most are pretty but don’t last at all (except By the Fireplace and Jazz Club). Coffee Break was a disappointment; it wasn’t what I expected. The coffee note that makes this fragrance interesting disappears within the first few minutes. What remains is a strong lavender scent (which dominates on my skin) with a faint vanilla and a subtle echo of sweet milk coffee that turns into a skin scent and fades. I didn’t expect great longevity since it’s an EDT and I have difficult skin, but is it normal to smell like a bloodhound on my wrist after two sprays in less than two hours and find nothing? Absolute disappointment. It’s a relaxing, pleasant, and cozy scent ideal for an autumnal night’s sleep and unisex/masculine (not as masculine as Jazz Club). It has no sillage and is for personal enjoyment. The longevity is laughable (in my case). If you’re looking for coffee, the best I’ve tried are Ristretto Café Intense by Montale, Coffee Addict by Theodoros Kalotinis, and Golden Dallah, all with excellent longevity. I’d like to try Follow by Kerosene and Café by Cabanel. If you’re interested in Replica perfumes, order the discovery set to see if they work on your skin. Many people are in love with this line, but I can’t recommend it because most don’t work with my chemistry.

I have the discovery set, and honestly, most of the scents are nice but don’t last at all (except By the Fireplace and Jazz Club). Coffee Break was a letdown; it wasn’t anything like I expected. The coffee note, which makes this fragrance interesting, disappears after the first few minutes. What’s left is a strong lavender scent (which dominates on my skin), a faint vanilla, and a slight echo of sweet milk and coffee that fades into a skin scent and vanishes. I didn’t expect great longevity in an EDT with my chemistry, but is it normal to smell like a bloodhound on my own wrist after less than two hours and find nothing? Absolute disappointment. It’s a relaxing, pleasant, and cozy scent, ideal for sleeping. It’s autumnal and unisex-leaning masculine (not as masculine as Jazz Club). No sillage; it’s for personal enjoyment only. • Of the autumn perfumes in the discovery set (By Fireplace Autumn Vibes Jazz Club and Coffee Break), this is my favorite and the one I’d buy. It’s very well-balanced, blending the homey scent of coffee with wood and vanilla, and the freshness of lavender gives it a feminine, floral touch. I wouldn’t want to smell just like milk coffee; the lavender provides a counterpoint so it’s not too obvious, making it wearable yet cozy like a sweater. I’m not sure if I’ll write about the others, maybe By Fireplace which has an overwhelming charisma. Autumn Vibes seems like a decaf version of By Fireplace, while Jazz Club feels too classic and masculine, though elegant.

  • I ordered this fragrance a few days ago and it arrived today. On my skin, the opening is just patchouli and lavender; in the dry-down, it smells like a lavender latte with vanilla and very creamy milk. Regarding longevity and projection, I didn’t expect much since it’s an EDT, but I was surprised that it lasts a long time on clothes but very little on the skin 🥲. The packaging description matches its name, “creamy & cozy coffee.” I give it an 8/10.

  • Dama Incognita

I love coffee scents and own several fragrances with that note. Coffee Break caught my eye with its name and notes, so I bought a travel size without testing it first. I liked it, but on my skin it dried down to just coffee and lavender. I probably won’t repurchase since I prefer sweeter or milky coffee aromas like Coffee Addict.

  • I personally drink coffee frequently, so this fragrance fits my personality perfectly—it’s a 10 🔥. I really like the scent, although my boyfriend enjoys it even more; I wear it knowing it drives him crazy. It smells like a date at a café with dessert: sweet without being cloying, milky like foam, a warm and cozy concept.

  • What a delight, by God!!!!! Delicious and creamy coffee ☕️. My husband goes crazy when I wear it 🥰 10/10

  • I like it; it’s warm and enveloping, soft. It works well for work, has modest longevity, and no sillage, making it ideal for personal use. Not all perfumes are meant to announce where you are. Now… it smells like milk with vanilla and a bit of lavender and tonka; I don’t detect the coffee at all.

  • I received this perfume 3 days ago and I have to say, it has me hooked. Yes, it’s not a fragrance that makes me fall in love, but its scent is comforting, soft, and pleasant. I use it to relax at home, before bed, and when I wake up; it’s been a while since a perfume made me feel so calm. I was skeptical about the lavender, which, as everyone says, is predominant, especially at the start, and it lingers for the 3-4 hours it lasts on my skin. However, it brings serenity, and paired with coffee, it creates a sense of peace that few perfumes achieve. The coffee note is noticeable at first, but it’s not strong; more like a caramel latte or frothy milk with a hint of coffee and a vanilla touch. It reminds me of the dry-down of Armani La Sedia/Le I/Elle, which I wore in my late teens. But Coffee Break stays close to the skin, with an almost imperceptible trail. Maison Margiela nailed their concept: it’s not just for perfuming you; it blends into your skin and recreates an atmosphere, a place. I consider it modern, neither loud nor overly sweet. It’s unisex thanks to the lavender, cedar, and vetiver notes. I’m not sure if I’d buy it again, but I’m enjoying it so much.

  • Got this three days ago and I’m already hooked. It’s not a total love at first sight, but it’s comforting, soft, and pleasant. I wear it to relax at home before and after sleep, and finally, this scent gives me the calm I needed. Although I was skeptical about the lavender that dominates at first and lasts about 3-4 hours, it brings a serenity that, combined with the coffee, creates a rare sense of peace. The coffee is noticeable at the start, but it’s not as strong as fresh brew; it’s more like a coffee-with-milk caramel or frothy milk with a hint of vanilla. It reminds me of the dried-down Armani La Sposa/Elle I wore in my teens. Coffee Break lingers only on the skin with almost no trail, which fits the Margiela concept: not to perfume you, but to create a place on your skin. It’s modern without being loud or overly sweet. Unisex thanks to the lavender, cedar, and vetiver. Maybe I won’t buy it again, but I enjoy it so much.

  • Ernestocanete

They told me it was rich, I bought it this year, and it hasn’t disappointed. I recommend it 100%; it’s delicious and the coffee makes me want to drink the bottle. If you like having coffee in the morning or going to Starbucks, this is for you. I’ve received several compliments and have even taken off a few pants. ATTE: the crew.

  • What I feel most is the lavender, then the coffee, and vanilla very in the background. The olfactory pyramid on the website is well described. If you’re looking for a sweet coffee as I thought, this isn’t it. For some reason, it’s a cozy scent (I imagine because of the excess lavender, which relaxes), but I wouldn’t choose it as the ultimate cozy; it’s missing something (Cloud is much cozier). I never found testers, so I grabbed a 30ml bottle on sale. It resembles REM by AG, but more intense. It’s unisex leaning masculine because it’s hardly sweet. I don’t think I’ll repurchase; I’m looking for a coffee that wakes you up, not one that relaxes.

  • What I smell most is definitely the lavender, followed by coffee and vanilla, but as a very secondary note. The olfactory pyramid on the website is described very well. If you’re looking for a sweeter coffee scent as I thought, this isn’t it :’) It is true that for some reason it’s a cozy aroma ☕🧦 (I imagine it’s because of the excess lavender, which is relaxing), but I wouldn’t choose it as the ultimate ‘cozy’ scent; it’s missing something (Cloud seems much cozier to me 🌧️). I never managed to get a tester, so I grabbed a 30ml bottle on sale, with doubts after reading that it resembles R.E.M by AG, and I have to say yes, it does, but it’s a bit more intense. It’s unisex, leaning masculine, basically because it’s not very sweet (or at least, I don’t perceive it that way). I don’t think I’ll repurchase; I’m looking for a different coffee scent that wakes you up instead of relaxing you :’D

  • sophie sinclair

I don’t know where they get the idea that it smells like coffee; to me, it only smells like lavender. I bought it blind based on the coffee reviews, but I thought the lavender wouldn’t be so noticeable, and it’s what stands out most on my skin. It seems like a scent for a proper gentleman.

  • Sir_GregMan

A pleasant fragrance where lavender dominates from the start, with vanilla in the background and a very faint touch of cream or milk. I barely perceive the coffee note, but it’s exquisite. It’s soft, and the experience is satisfying and delicious. The trail and longevity on my skin are low.

  • oliendobonito

Lavender with a coffee touch, leaning more toward the masculine side. It’s pleasant, warm, and distinct from other coffee perfumes. Projection and longevity are moderate (7-8 hours on clothes). It doesn’t resemble either Black Opium or D&G’s The Only One.

  • Freakyscent

To keep it brief, I bought it blind without being an expert and I really liked it. I’ve used it little so far, but the coffee is very subtle and the lavender and a bit of milk (my favorite note) stand out more in the opening. I had doubts that, being a man, it would be too feminine, but the woody note at the end balances it well well. If you’re a man thinking of buying it, it’s a great option, although the coffee scent isn’t very present.

  • DaviniaTolkien

I don’t understand why they compare it to Rochas Man; my husband has the Rochas and they have nothing in common—that one is distinctly masculine, while Coffee Break is unisex leaning feminine. It’s a lovely lavender fragrance with coffee touches, but its longevity and trail are laughable. I wish it lasted longer; it’s lighter than a cologne. It doesn’t work in the heat, and in autumn and winter it dissipates too quickly. Maybe spring is its moment, though then it feels a bit floral. Hard to know when to wear it.

  • Totally unisex, as if you stripped away all the nighttime glamour from Black Opium (though it doesn’t resemble it, just an analogy). Coffee Break is very different from the coffee perfumes we know; it’s much more discreet. The lavender adds a floral touch that opens up to the coffee. My colleagues don’t smell coffee on me at first, but by the end of the day, everyone comments that it smells like a cappuccino. I’d love to try more from Maison Margiela in the future.

  • Subtle and balanced gourmand fragrance: coffee, dairy, lavender, and vanilla that transport you to a peaceful corner. The longevity is acceptable, with a constant but moderate trail. It’s a rare profile on the market, much better executed than by other brands. It’s addictive, pleasant, and enveloping without being cloying. Perfect for cool climates, intimate moments, or enjoying alone. I recommend it without hesitation.

  • Gatitomalbado

It doesn’t smell like coffee, but rather that warm cappuccino that makes you pause, holding the cup in your hands with your sweater on. To me, it’s milk and vanilla with a hint of lavender, almost like there’s a vase nearby. The coffee and lavender are more noticeable in the trail than on the skin. The curious thing is that you don’t smell like yourself, but like a place; it’s cozy, warm, and comforting. Perfect for autumn, rainy days, or when you need a hug in scent form.
