Descripción

Sailing Day by Maison Martin Margiela is an olfactive fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2017, the nose behind this composition is Violaine Collas. The top notes evoke a marine air with aldehydes, coriander, and red chili; the heart reveals juniper, iris, amyl salicylate, and rose; while the base notes close the olfactory pyramid with sea algae, ambergris, cedar, and Amberwood.

  • It starts fresh, but within seconds it turns into something weird: it becomes very salty and marine, with a bitter base that smells like cleaner liquid. I was extremely disappointed; I expected it to project what the box says. The longevity is very weak, and after 8 minutes it just smells like salt.

  • It has a fresh opening but changes to something weird in seconds, becoming very salty and more than marine, with a bitter tone that seems like a cleaning liquid. It disappointed me greatly; I expected it to project what’s in the box. The longevity is very light, and after 8 minutes, it only smells like salt.

  • Fresh opening; it’s inevitable to think of nautical perfumes that cost ten dollars—extremely insipid.

  • It perfectly fulfills its promise of being a deep-sea aquatic. It starts citrusy and evolves into a marine, beachy, salty but not overpowering scent, with sand touches less marked than in perfumes like Carner’s Costarela. I understand it might not please at first, but I think it’s a very well-executed fragrance of good quality. It’s an easy marine to make, which isn’t simple, though it doesn’t reach the level of AdG Profondo that 99% love and remains generic; still, it’s evocative and photorealistic. Performance is good for a summer perfume in casual and semi-formal situations. It stays clean without getting dirty with sunscreen or sweet notes like others. If you’re looking for beach alternatives, you must try it. Rating: 8/10.

  • Sailing Day delivers exactly on its promise: a deep aquatic marine scent. It starts citrusy and evolves into something beachy and salty, without going overboard, with hints of sand that don’t reach the intensity of Carner Costarela. At first, it might not grab you, but honestly, it’s a very well-crafted fragrance of good quality. It’s an easy-to-wear marine scent, which is hard to find; it doesn’t quite reach the level of AdG Profondo, which almost everyone likes and still carries a slightly generic vibe, but it’s very evocative and photorealistic. The performance seems good for a summer perfume, ideal for casual and semi-formal situations. Plus, many of these scents get muddy with sunscreen notes or a slight sweetness, but Sailing Day stays clean within its concept and executes it well. If you’re looking for beachy or summer alternatives, this is a must-try. Rating: 8/10

  • For me… I don’t know what to say, it’s the most disappointing fragrance I’ve tried from this house and from all the recent ones. At first, it smells like salt and something marine or clean, and that’s it. I don’t feel the chili, cilantro, rose, iris, or ambergris on my skin. The worst part is that after 30 minutes it barely smells like salt and fades away in under an hour. Don’t buy it blindly; it can be a bucket of cold water. Just because others liked it doesn’t mean it will work for you. Fortunately, I only tried it in samples, and I recommend testing it that way.

Better to try a sample.

A blue and aquatic moment. Yes, it sounds generic, but it’s a very well-balanced unisex fragment. The floral sweetness mixes with salt, algae, and a citrus undertone. Juniper brings that effervescent freshness without being herbal. Try to capture a sea breeze; to feel it at 100%, sit in the shade on a hot, breezy day. In MM, it smells sweeter than reality, I guess that’s the idealized memory they’re aiming for. I like it, it’s safe, but I understand it won’t surprise… there are cheaper options with similar vibes and longevity.

It’s a good perfume, but you need to understand it’s an aquatic EDT type; it lasts about 4 hours, stays very close to the skin since it doesn’t project much. It’s only for noses that know how to detect ingredients; hard to smell at first glance. I got it for a good price ($50); paying more isn’t worth it. It has a DNA similar to Chrome Azzaro; if your skin has a high pH, it might smell salty, but I don’t consume salt and don’t notice that note. Before criticizing, regulate your skin’s pH.

It’s a blue and aquatic moment; while generic, it’s a well-balanced unisex fragment where floral sweetness blends with salt and citrus. The juniper adds freshness without being herbal. It tries to capture a sea breeze, ideal for sitting in the shade on a hot day. On skin, it’s sweeter than reality, like an idealized memory. It’s safe, but there are cheaper options with similar vibes.

  • It’s a pleasant marine scent that reminds me of the moment right after leaving the beach, when the water dries leaving those salty notes on the skin; it’s a well-executed fragrance, though I wouldn’t wear it myself.

  • A very pleasant marine/aquatic scent. It reminds me of when you come out of the beach and the water dries on your skin; those salty notes stick to your skin. I wouldn’t wear it, but I think it’s very well crafted.

  • It smells like men’s shaving cream; I didn’t sense any of the promised beachy or marine notes.

  • Elenperfume

It feels too masculine and very common; I wouldn’t add it to my collection, even though I sometimes enjoy men’s fragrances.

  • Elenperfume

It feels too masculine to me, and although I sometimes like men’s perfumes, this one is very common. I wouldn’t add it to my collection.

  • It’s an aquatic scent with green nuances that realistically evoke a sea breeze, but since it’s similar to other known blues, I don’t think it’s worth the investment.
