Wait, wait, Black Opium changing its composition for the first time, but what is this? I can’t wait to smell it 😍❤

  • I love the fig note and I really like Black Opium and its flankers, so I bought it at Sephora thinking it would be an original, coffee with fig… Mistake! What a disappointment. It’s just a Black Opium with a citrus opening, nothing more, much weaker than the original. I can’t find the fig anywhere, I never smell it, I don’t understand how they sell it like this. The longevity is minimal, I notice it for about two hours and it doesn’t project. I was so angry I mixed it with Diptyque’s Philosykos, but that was a bad idea, it only smelled like the latter. I’ll use it by over-applying, but it will pass without making much of an impression. Very bad YSL.

  • I love the fig note and am a huge fan of Black Opium and its derivatives, so I bought it at Sephora expecting a fig-and-coffee original. What a mistake! It’s a disappointment: it smells like Black Opium with a citrusy opening, way weaker. I don’t detect any fig at all and I don’t get why they sold it this way. It lasts two hours on me and has zero projection. I was so angry I mixed it with Diptyque’s Philosykos, but it only smelled like the latter. I’ll use it heavily, but it will pass without making a splash. Very bad YSL.

On my skin, the Illicit Green opening highlights the fig leaf green note, not so much the tangerine or pear citrus. In the original BO, after a few minutes, licorice, vanilla, and coffee take over; here, in this flanker, it’s the green note and coffee. It’s less sweet than the original, and personally, I prefer the original; but both are good options and the notes are well combined.

  • Fruits with vanilla. It’s a triple play between jasmine, pear 🍐, and vanilla, very well balanced. It’s penetrating and intense yet luminous, nothing like the boring sweetness of Black Opium. It pleasantly surprised me, offering a fresh take on the usual sweet scent. Fans of Alien will absolutely love this; I’d almost say Black Opium copied the formula because of Mugler’s success. They both pick the trendy fruit and the trendy jasmine; Alien. They walk the same family lines. Edit: Hours later, it reminds me of a mix between Alien and Olympea by Paco Rabanne, very striking.

  • I agree with Javier Ordaz: it’s a perfect unisex male scent. I wear it and it reminds me of Armani Stronger With You or One Million Lucky in sweetness. I adore it, it’s one of the most delicious sweet scents I’ve tried. It looks incredible on men. What I notice most is the coffee and vanilla; to me, it smells like Bailey’s. It’s charming.

  • I own Black Opium Neón and the classic; this fragrance reminds me a lot of Neón, but it swaps the tropical notes for fig and has a less dominant coffee, making it fresher. The sillage is pretty bad. It smells good, but it’s just another flanker with poor performance, so don’t buy it.

  • xakaranda

I own both Neón and the regular version; this fragrance reminds me of Neón but swaps the tropical vibe for fig and tones down the coffee, making it fresher. The longevity is terrible. It smells good, but it’s a flanker that repeats too much with poor performance, so don’t buy it.

  • Total letdown. The opening is gorgeous, but it vanishes in seconds and isn’t worth it.

  • Smells very similar to the original Black Opium, but with a much stronger vanilla note 🙂

  • I think it’s the flanker that’s most similar to the original, but softened and modernized, like an MK2; basically, they could have made this from the start and saved all, all, all the others. The liquor in the opening reminds me of the absinthe in the Intense, I notice a sweet mandarin, probably the pear giving the sweetness, and the blend of bourbon vanilla and coffee is spectacular.

  • It’s the most faithful flanker to the original, yet softer and more modern, like an MK2; honestly, they could have launched this from the start and saved us the whole saga. The opening smells like the Intense’s absinthe, with sweet mandarin and maybe pear, and that blend of bourbon vanilla with coffee is spectacular.

  • As mentioned before, it’s super similar to the original. It’s coffee wrapped in creamy, sweet vanilla. Very rich and long-lasting, however, if you have the original, it’s not worth buying this one, as it’s the same thing but with different packaging.

Black Opium Illicit Green actually came to me as a gift. I like sweet and gourmand notes in perfumes, and I think this Black Opium hits the nail on the head. From its launch, I easily perceived a juicy pear with a vanilla touch that maintains itself in varying proportions throughout its development, then its characteristic coffee scent appears immediately, but here the fig leaves give a sense of greenery, and if you’ve ever touched fig leaves, they have a certain roughness. Maybe there are better flankers out there, but I adore this one, and in my case it has a decent longevity, nothing extreme at 8 hours but definitely around 5 or 6.

  • I love it. It was a blind buy during a promo, trying to get along with YSL perfumes that I find super sweet and heavy. What a gem I found! No wonder Olivier Cresp is the nose; I love everything he does. It smells sweet, vanilla, with coffee, and the pear gives it an extraordinary touch. It lasts a long time on my skin. It’s like a coffee version of Valentino Born in Roma, which I also adore. Yes, I personally wear it at night; the sun and daytime feel too strong to me. I think it could be fantastic for a guy too.

It’s like a coffee version of Valentino Born in Roma (which I also love). That said, personally, these are perfumes I use at night. The sun and daytime feel too much for them. I’d think it could also be fantastic for a man.

The bottle isn’t one of my favorites… I tested it in a perfumerie and got so tangled in the scent that I ended up buying it. Now that I own it, I’m a bit disappointed because I remembered more coffee sensations during the test. Now it just smells like vanilla, which I like, but I expected more from such an expensive perfume. The intensity fades very quickly; it lasts many hours but is extremely soft, you have to get close to smell it.

  • Gabriela C

Sweet, syrupy, and vanilla-forward; it’s hard to pinpoint the fruit, but a fig-and-vanilla syrup would be the perfect definition. I don’t really detect the coffee or flowers throughout its evolution; instead, it’s a soft caramelized sweetness, nothing invasive, accompanied by vanilla all the way through. Ideal for cold days, for evening wear, and for any age. I’ve loved it.

  • Limavioleta22

Yes, the longevity is short, but it’s exquisite, refined, and elegant. It opens fresh and then turns sweet. The green touch and coffee give it a lot of personality. I think it’s perfect for spring and summer. Beautiful fragrance.

This is my first Black Opium, so I can’t compare it to the siblings, but I can say it feels very similar to Dior’s Poison Girl in the base notes. It has the same sweet vanilla, though the Dior smells spicier on my skin. The sweet part lasts up to 8 hours close to the skin, and I get zero sillage; after two hours, I stop smelling it, and the green, citrus, and fruity notes vanish almost instantly upon application. If you search hard, you might catch a hint of pear. It’s just another sweet fragrance, which doesn’t mean it’s not delicious, only that it feels like many others out there.

  • I love it! I bought it because it was on sale, and I’ve wanted the Black Opium for ages—it’s a fragrance that fascinates me. I really liked the flanker, then I bought the original, and I adore both. The only downside to Illicit Green is that it lasts about 3 to 4 hours. If you love the original, I highly recommend picking it up.

  • MarinaEtoile

I’m completely bowing down to this fragrance. I was looking for a BO flanker and stumbled upon something absolutely gorgeous. It’s fresh yet dense, like pear and coffee with fig and mandarin—wow. On me, it lasts about 8 hours with moderate but noticeable projection; it’s captivating because it wins compliments by the end. I’m already on my second bottle. Without a doubt, it delights my nose and my husband’s. This duality between density, character, and lightness is rare in perfumery, so it’s no surprise that two master perfumers created it.

  • The green opening focused on fig helps distinguish it from the original Black Opium, which is delicious but ultra-famous and even used in air fresheners. However, aside from this extraordinary opening, the perfume is very similar to the BO once dried down. It’s a total gourmand but very well executed. Its longevity is average and I don’t feel the sillage is very potent. I was pleasantly surprised, but I wouldn’t buy it again.

  • This perfume fooled me a bit: in the store, I smelled an intense coffee aroma and bought it instantly because I loved it, but when I opened the new bottle, I couldn’t smell that scent again. Don’t get me wrong, I still love it; I feel it’s a fresher, more versatile version of the original. It’s a good purchase, though don’t expect much projection; after about 4 hours, I can’t smell it anymore, it’s only detectable close to the skin. In terms of notes, the opening is dominated by pear, and over time it becomes more gourmand, although unfortunately I don’t smell the coffee, just vanilla and heart florals. In summary, a good purchase if you like the line; it’s my favorite of all.

  • I bought it blind on a sale to see how it would compare to the Opiums… It didn’t blow my mind like other perfumes. I find it very muddled and I think the coffee note isn’t one of my favorites. Still, I’ll use it or soften it with layering. If you’re in Argentina, I find it very similar to Uma Doré, which is much cheaper. If I had known, I would have bought the latter.

  • Very delicious, much fresher and more versatile than the classic. BUT very poor longevity for a Black Opium. I only recommend it if you find it on sale. I don’t notice anything green, figgy, or anything else, but it does feel less intense, with a fresher opening (30 seconds). If you’re from Argentina, the Vitamina Night seems identical to me. On my skin, it lasts about 3/4 hours.

  • geomeun.apyeon

To me, it’s identical to the classic Black Opium, about 90% the same. It just changes the sillage and longevity a bit.

  • Amazing perfume. I bought it because it was super cheap. It should be viral; I remember nobody was talking about it. It’s similar to the classic, but I like this flanker better because it lacks the strong opening of the other; its opening is herbal and vanilla, fresh. Then it becomes just like the classic, with more coffee and vanilla coming through. I love it, and I think the fig notes are original, making it unisex. It’s sexy, nocturnal, herbal, and sweet—ideal for parties or clubs on a cool night. Scent, sillage, and longevity are spectacular, all 11. I recommend trying it at least, though it’s not always in stock.

  • It’s just like Black Opium, but softer and without the longevity. Super delicious, but it doesn’t last.

  • I bought it blind and I’m fascinated by it. It’s one of the few that lingers on my clothes, skin, and hair. It has different facets: sometimes citrus, sometimes fig, sometimes vanilla. Surprising and I love it. I also own the classic, but this one feels more youthful. Highly recommended 💚

  • My go-to for rainy days. I imagine drinking vanilla milk coffee in the mountains. It perfectly balances gourmand and herbal notes. It’s the most wearable of all the BOs; I even wear it in the heat without it being overpowering. It evolves into vanilla, coffee, and white flowers. It’s not linear; it evolves all day, which makes it so rich. I first bought the Zenz dupe and fell in love, then the original, but I prefer the fake. The original has that typical sharp opening, lasts about 4 hours, and then disappears; I can still smell the fake until 12 hours later.

  • geomeun.apyeon

It doesn’t smell green or weird at all; it’s the classic Black Opium with a fruity twist. I love wearing it to stretch out my original bottle. Great longevity and a real treasure.
