A total flop for a blind buy. I learned to always check the notes, even if you read other reviews. I like the original Armani Code; it doesn’t last long on my skin but isn’t aggressive. Since I read this one was fresher and more spring-like, I bought it during a big sale, knowing how hard it is for me to get to testers. At least, even though it’s a mistake, it wasn’t a huge expense. At first, on skin and in the air, it’s dry—I’d say arid. The first few times, it smelled like walking into a store burning sandalwood sticks or incense: a penetrating scent that doesn’t bother me at home but definitely on the skin. The leather note is very intense, and I haven’t detected any florals or vanilla. I wouldn’t recommend buying it without trying it, even if you like the original. While Code has elegance and freshness, this one has aridity and dryness. I’ve only worn it four or five times, so I’ll give it another shot later to decide whether to keep it or get rid of it. Sometimes perfumes change over time, as I mentioned before. I’ll let it settle and then try it again, editing this review to confirm or change my mind.
One of my biggest mistakes buying blind. I learned that notes matter more than others’ reviews. I love the original Armani Code, though it doesn’t last long on my skin and isn’t aggressive. Since I read this version was fresher and spring-like, I bought it at a great discount, knowing I rarely test before purchasing. At least, even if it’s a mistake, it wasn’t expensive. Right out of the bottle, on skin and in the air, it’s dry and very arid. The first few times, it smells like walking into a store burning sandalwood sticks or incense: a deep scent that doesn’t bother the room but lingers on the skin. The leather is very intense, and I haven’t detected any flowers or vanilla. I wouldn’t recommend buying it without testing, even if you like the original. While Code has elegance and freshness, this one feels arid and dry. I’ve only worn it four or five times, so I’ll give it another shot later to decide whether to keep it or ditch it. I’ve been looking for this for a long time and finally got it at half price. I love it: fresh with water pear at first, then sweet with tonka bean and vanilla. It’s wonderful, but it doesn’t last long on my skin.
Unlike others, this is an intense oriental with a citrus opening and a very pleasant vanilla dry down. The citrus notes are strong at first, then within minutes, the sweet oriental touch emerges and lasts all day on my skin. The sillage is excellent, and I recommend it if you like mixing citrus with sweet notes.
