I bought it and was pleasantly surprised. It has an uncommon scent, sensual, mysterious, yet soft. I like it for summer nights; it’s one of my favorites for that season.
It seems Yves Saint Laurent is trying to confuse us with so many Opium flankers. Why not put the subtitle ‘Vapeurs de Parfum’ under ‘Opium’ on the bottle? They’re trying to use the powerful name to attract buyers, but if you’re expecting another Opium, you’re mistaken. It’s a suggestive fragrance, but it shouldn’t be linked to its predecessor; it’s better presented as an independent creation to do it justice. Vapeurs de Parfum is a mix of orange blossom and citrus, which feel synthetic to me, but they blend well with incense and spices. Pink pepper stands out, so present in youthful and feminine perfumes. You don’t notice typical oriental ingredients; there’s little benzoin, which sets it apart from its older sister. It’s delicate, sweet, and powdery, with a hint of incense at the end, less fresh than a typical summer perfume. It only lasts two hours on my skin. Not bad for a summer flanker.
I tested it in warm weather, ideal for summer. It feels right at home. To me, it feels a bit synthetic, but I don’t dislike it; it feels good. I’d wear it in beachy settings. It reminded me of my maternal family’s hometown, by the seaside: smiling, playful, coquettish, cooking, generous mothers. The trail is moderate but noticeable and catches attention at a short distance. On my skin, I detected benzoin, a soft kick of nutmeg, and very soft incense, almost like perfumed powder. Dusty jasmine and green orange blossom, with creamy amber. The top notes (mandarin and pink pepper) passed me by; I didn’t sense them. I didn’t love it, but I liked it; it’s a working alternative for the beach. I agree with Maeva, they could have marketed it under a different name; I don’t see much connection to Opium.
Sirena’s Song is a summer discovery. At first, it’s citrusy—mandarin and tart orange blossom, like diving into a pool, fresh and sweet. Then it gains sweetness, becoming floral, spiced, creamy, and deep. Jasmine, vanilla, and nutmeg with a halo of incense, like a night mist over the high seas. Pink pepper and benzoin make it dense and long-lasting, with amber appearing at the end. The texture shifts from effervescent to smoky, creamy, and dry. It’s a perfect blend, capturing the nuances of a summer day. The incense makes it enigmatic, the fresh citrus, tropical flowers, and vanilla add depth, while the spices provide relief. It’s not overly sweet, leaning toward a clean, soapy neutrality. It’s not oriental; it’s a light spiced/vanilla scent. After 12 hours, it lingers on the wrists and more on clothes. Sensual, warm, and refined. More wearable than other Opiums, it projects a flawless, professional image. It adds personality and maturity; it’s uncommon, has spices but doesn’t overwhelm, offering only warm and mysterious aspects under formality. No intrusive notes. Perfect for summer, formal or informal; people find it pleasant, and it doesn’t fade easily. In cooler weather, the warm side shines through, and it works for winter too.
Floral oriental, warm and soft, with a sensual touch that intoxicates. It opens with mandarin and pink pepper, moves through jasmine and orange blossom, and settles into incense, vanilla, and woods. Perfect for everything; it doesn’t overpower, leaving a delicate and elegant yet youthful trail. It evokes a confident, warm, and mysterious woman. One of my favorites for daytime and summer afternoons.
