Very good fragrance! I didn’t necessarily perceive it as aquatic (maybe my perception). Longevity on my skin is about 10 hours. Recommended!
I like the perfume, but it’s nothing new. I don’t know if you’ve tried it, but to me it smells very similar to Tom Ford’s Black Orchid, though super diluted, it’s like a BO aquatic, fresh, and very airy with a touch of hazelnuts. I feel it’s more fruity than aromatic, as Fragrantica points out, but it’s not a bad scent, especially if you like the general aroma of Tom Ford perfumes. Performance on my skin was good, with an approximate duration of about 8 hours, with a very noticeable sillage at the start, but which fades to moderate in 15 minutes, and from there, dropping progressively until it dies down to the skin. It’s a cheerful and summery fragrance, and although it’s a bit fresh, it’s not fresh, it has a good fruity charge that gives it body. Not very recommended for daytime, I see it more focused on warm and fresh spring and summer nights. To me it seemed like a good perfume, but that blatant Black Orchid vibe made me not fully convinced, although if you like Tom Ford perfume, you’ll be able to enjoy this one during the summer.
I couldn’t help it, I went to a Douglas store this afternoon to buy personal care products and ran into Aqua Kenzo. A novelty… and I who love trying new perfume releases (even though most are of negligible quality… and that makes me furious) tried it. Personal impression: it’s not a typical aquatic, it’s a dense and sweet opening (with the dominant note of hazelnut with tonka), spicy to finish with a rich, vanilla woody accord. It follows the trail of the excellent Air Kenzo and I think they have points in common. Especially the warm spicy touch. It’s a deceptive perfume: not citrusy, doesn’t smell like the sea, it’s dense, warm, and sensual, with a very well-done hazelnut aroma. All wrapped in the sweetness of tonka and a subtle, airy vanilla. A perfume to wear at any age, playing on the masculine-feminine and wearable all year. By the way, the bottle is nice and the box with a Japanese ukiyo-e engraving is really apt (although, and I repeat, it’s not a typical aquatic). I liked the fragrance and it has good performance (rare these days).
I couldn’t resist and spent the afternoon at Douglas hunting for skincare, where I stumbled upon Aqua Kenzo. A novelty… I love trying new perfumes (even though most are garbage and drive me crazy), so I gave it a shot. My take: it’s not a typical aquatic. It starts dense and sweet (dominated by hazelnut and tonka), spiced, and ends with a rich, vanilla-tinged woody base. It follows in the footsteps of the brilliant Air Kenzo and seems to share common ground, especially that warm spicy touch. It’s a deceptive scent: it doesn’t smell like citrus or the sea; it’s dense, warm, and sensual, with a beautifully executed hazelnut aroma, all wrapped in the sweetness of tonka and a subtle, airy vanilla. It suits any age, plays between masculine and feminine, and works year-round. By the way, the bottle is pretty, and the box with the Japanese ukiyo-e engraving is great (though, I repeat, it’s not a typical aquatic). I loved the fragrance, and it has good performance, which is rare these days 🙂
I agree the name leads to confusion, just like Valentino Aqua (WTF?). Ignoring this marketing error, the scent is quite curious. It seems to come from a crazy night between Invictus and Valentino Uomo, so I think it’s a pleasant fragrance for many noses, so you could buy it blind, and besides, it doesn’t seem like a very cliché scent. Performance is very good and the fragrance isn’t too heavy, without being poor. It won’t go down in history, nor do I think it’s a masterpiece, but if I find it at a good price, I’ll grab it.
I never dare to try perfumes with ‘Aqua’ in the name; I dislike aquatic scents and it’s not my style… but the reviews convinced me. The opening is fresh, acidic, and juicy, likely from the apple, with a spicy touch. Then the aquatic notes emerge with a salty hint that blends with the hazelnuts, giving it a summery vibe like One Million Lucky. The green note feels like mint, not intrusive, which slightly tones down the hazelnuts. In the dry down, the hazelnuts still dominate, now sweet, with vanilla and tonka bean over wood, perfect for night. I admit I didn’t love the heart phase much, luckily it’s short-lived, but the final stage is spectacular. The name ‘Aqua’ is confusing because it doesn’t smell 100% aquatic; ‘Party Summer’ would have been better. Edited: With my bottle, the trail lasts a maximum of 2-3 hours, same on the skin. Very weak, but since the price isn’t excessive, it doesn’t bother me to reapply. Also, more than once I sensed feminine touches, almost unisex. Is it just my impression?
I never even think about trying perfumes with ‘Aqua’ in the name… I dislike aquatic fragrances, it’s not my style… but given the reviews, I decided to give it a shot. Fresh, acidic but juicy opening, imagining apple and slightly spicy. Heart notes: the aquatic notes appear giving a salty smell, mixing with hazelnuts that give it a summer version of One Million Lucky; the green note felt like mint, not strong or intrusive, but necessary, toning down the hazelnuts a bit. In the dry down… The hazelnut scent still predominates, now sweet, mixed with vanilla and tonka bean resting on a woody base, making it great for evening wear… I must admit the heart didn’t suit me too much, luckily it lasts an hour, and I stuck with the dry down which is spectacular. I don’t know where the name ‘Aqua’ came from since it’s not 100% aquatic; if they had called it ‘Party Summer’ I think it would have fit better… Edit: Now that I’ve used the bottle, I must say the sillage lasts a maximum of 2-3 hours, same as longevity on the skin, very scarce… and a real pity, luckily the price isn’t excessive, so it’s not annoying to have to reapply. Everyone has a different pH, on my skin it just doesn’t last enough. Also, I’ll clarify that on more than one occasion I sensed feminine touches, almost unisex. Will it be just my impression?
It has a misleading name, as there’s little ‘Aqua’ about it. It starts with something that reminds me of a sweet apple, followed by warm and perhaps a bit heavy aromas. It’s a fragrance that pleases and is noticeable, doesn’t project much, and longevity is around 4-5 hours. It’s quite different from what’s out there today, which is appreciated. I wear it across a wide age range because it looks good on everyone. Used lightly, it goes well with heat, though for me it smells more like slightly fresher climates.
Exquisite and enveloping fragrance. My partner initially walked past it because they were looking to take a break from L’Homme Libre, even though they really enjoyed that line. I already had my Aqua Kenzo, but I couldn’t forget that sweet yet masculine wave when I opened it, so I gifted it to them. It was a total hit: they absolutely love it. On the skin, the fruity sweetness mellows out, leaving behind a spicy, woody, and clean trail. Pink pepper, cedar, and tonka bean dominate from the start and last long, keeping the essence intact for several hours. It makes a great duo with the feminine version, although the masculine one has more presence and longevity.
Exquisite, intoxicating, and enveloping fragrance. The last time we chose a perfume with my partner, he passed this one up (I already had the Aqua Kenzo pour Femme that I love) because he was looking for something in the L’Homme Libre line and wanted to take a break. However, I couldn’t forget that sweet, gentle, and masculine wave it emits as soon as it comes out of the bottle, so I gifted it to him immediately. It was a great hit; he enjoys it a lot. On the skin, after a few hours, the fruity sweetness mellows and you perceive spicy, woody, and clean notes. Pink pepper, cedar, and tonka bean are the clearest notes from the start and last, keeping the fragrance intact for several hours. I think it makes a great duo with the feminine version, but I admit the pour Homme version has a presence and longevity the feminine one lacks.
It’s a mix between Invictus and Y EDP. Very long-lasting with good projection.
Snagged it on sale for €16 and bought it blind. Totally agree with those calling the name ‘Aqua’ a scam: it smells nothing like the sea, and the bottle or box with the Hokusai wave is no trick either. The marketing makes you expect something fresh, but leaves you dry. At first, with that strong, sweet pink pepper, I wasn’t convinced, but by the next day I could handle it. The heart has a nice woody-hazelnut touch with an interesting slight saltiness. The dry down is soft vanilla, tonka bean, and cedar—pleasant but generic. On my skin, it lasts 5-6 hours with low sillage, creating a personal bubble. Best for daily wear; at night it can’t compete with the beasts. I wouldn’t use it in summer because there are better options, but rather in autumn on cool days. For the price, it’s decent and has a unique touch, but I won’t be buying it again because it didn’t make me fall in love.
Since I tried it after a blind buy, it’s become one of my favorites (another Kenzo on my humble podium). Spoiler: IT’S NOT AN “AQUA”. Well, that’s what it’s called, but it has nothing to do with what we imagine. It’s a dark, sweet, creamy, and woody fragrance. It starts with a sharp opening of green apple and pepper (I don’t detect any citrus). The heart is hazelnut, which feels blue thanks to the aquatic notes accompanying it, and blends with sesame, which is very noticeable and gives it a special touch. Tonka bean and woods form the base, adding something more sober, while amber and vanilla bring the sweet touch. Overall, it feels creamy, rich, and original… More recommended for nightwear and in mild or cool climates. Ideal for dates, dinners, and intimacy. On my skin, the performance was excellent… Scent: 9/10 Sillage: 7/10 Longevity: 9/10 Duration: 8/10 Cheers, friends!
Since I tried it after a blind buy, it’s become one of my favorites (another Kenzo on my humble podium). Spoiler: IT’S NOT AN ‘AQUA’. Sure, that’s the name, but it has nothing to do with what comes to mind. Dark, sweet, creamy, and woody fragrance. While it starts with a sharp green apple and pepper (I don’t really perceive the citrus note), the heart is definitely hazelnut. A hazelnut that feels blue thanks to the aquatic notes accompanying it, mixing well with the sesame that is truly noticeable and gives it a special ‘something’. Tonka bean and woods form the base, adding a slightly sober touch, while amber and vanilla give it the sweet finish. Overall, the whole ensemble feels creamy, rich, and original… More recommended for night and in temperate to cool climates. Ideal for dates, dinners, and intimacy. I must say the performance on my skin was very good… Scent: 9/10 Sillage: 7/10 Longevity: 9/10 Duration: 8/10 Cheers friends!
It feels like JPG Le Beau but with a woody citrus touch, very very light. It doesn’t feel as sweet and is much better for daily use, though it doesn’t last long and lacks projection.
Very delicious perfume, that warm, sweet, and fresh sensation all at once, yet enveloping thanks to a warm, sweet hazelnut and musky vibe. Highly seductive; it’s not a projection bomb, but you can feel it everywhere.
Not aquatic at all like the name suggests; it’s a really good fragrance with a spark and a scent you can count on. Great for young people and a safe gift choice, plus it’s affordable. Recommended.
Starts like JPG Le Beau but transforms into One Million Lucky. I feel this Kenzo is lower quality than the last two. Works well for going out at night, lasts a decent amount, but doesn’t project much. Not recommended. 4/10
I was gifted the limited edition in a spray can, which is more affordable. Does anyone know if it’s the same fragrance as the one in the regular glass bottle?
At times, it reminds me of JPG Scandal. It’s a good scent, more unisex with a slight masculine and youthful lean. It’s not as fresh as it seems, though diving into the dry down might make it seem aquatic, it’s not really. It’s sweet but not suffocating; perfect for mild days and night outings. It’s a good perfume, but there are better options at this price.
It smells very similar to Kayak Aero, though a bit more woody and creamy. The scent is good, but it lacks projection.
I loved it at first, but when I bought it again, I wasn’t so sure. The performance and projection have dropped significantly. It smells sweeter than aquatic, stays very close to the skin, and isn’t a blue or marine fragrance despite the name. It’s not bad, but there are better options for the price. For me, it’s a ‘meh’—I liked it before, but I don’t think I’ll buy it again.
I own 1 Million Lucky and it smells nothing alike; to me, it’s more like Kenzo Marine.
