I tested this in winter and spring. Among Massimo Dutti’s classic men’s fragrances, this is the one that deviates the most, especially at first. While MD 1985 is citrusy and sparkling, and MD 1985 Fresh smells like the sea (similar to Aqua di Giò), this one starts citrusy but quickly turns woody and musky. After that, there’s little change: it fades until it becomes skin-scented after 70-80 minutes. The dry down is pleasant, like incense wood, but very faint and barely noticeable above 25 degrees. The first hour lifts your spirits, but by the hour and a half, you start wondering if it’s worth it.
A departure from the classic, it comes in 85 ml with decent pricing and packaging. On the skin, it lasts well with average projection, which is standard these days. It has a spicy character and a woody contrast; if you like Mystery Oud by Daniel Josier or Noir by Tom Ford, this fragrance will bring back memories of those scents, thanks to its carrot seed note. It’s ‘different’ without being so, staying away from sweetness with a more mature tone.
