Defy EDP is aromatic, spicy, and leathery. It starts fresh with citrus and black pepper, recalling Issey Miyake’s Nuit. As it evolves, it becomes darker, earthier, and more leathery, while maintaining the clean DNA of the original EDT. After two hours, a hint of wood appears, though it stays spicy, leathery, and clean. This is the darkest, spiciest version, ideal for night, autumn, spring, or daytime winter. It also suits the office or casual outings. Longevity wasn’t the best, hovering around 5 to 6 hours: regular sillage for the first hour, then fading to skin-level. I’m not sure if it’s more interesting than the EDT; it depends on your taste. If you love spices, you’ll love it, but if you prefer clean, fresh aromas, maybe not so much. The best advice is to try it and draw your own conclusions.
Reminds me a lot of Hugo Boss The Scent, with that prominent leather and suede giving it a mature, formal vibe, paired with sweet fruits that bring it closer to the first edition, though they aren’t identical. The Hugo Boss has that signature apple note, while Defy Eau de Parfum leans into a very sweet, spicy tangerine thanks to the pepper. It’s not redundant to own both, but they work for the same occasions… performance is pretty good for a Calvin Klein fragrance.
